After 3 flights from Stockholm via London and Johannesburg, we arrived on time to Cape Town, picked up the car from Avis ( it's very smooth if you are a Preffered Customer - free of charge and easy ). we drove for about 2 hrs Before we arrived to Excelsior again. It's like coming home - even though you are... More

You can experience a piece of history in Excelsior Manor House. Comfortable lounge, elegant dining and a very useful swimming pool. And.... wine tasting, blending and a very good tea shop are just next door. The service is extremely good - being waited on hand and foot.

A great place to stay. The use of the buggy to tour the vines fun. A superb dinner and a lovely breakfast made the stay!! The staff were great as well. Our interesting gin and soda caused some hilarity but was quickly remedied! Do I recommend yes - would I return yes.

From the moment we arrived, Kristin, James and all of the team 'Excelsior', made us feel so welcome and this could not have been a better first stop on our trip to South Africa. Excelsior wine estate is set between Robertson and Ashton in a beautiful valley and two days is not enough to explore. Excelsior itself has beautiful, historical,... More

Beautiful place, excellent staff! Loved every minute of our stay there. The food was very good and the wine was great pairing with it. Wished we stayed a bit longer to make the most of the pool but had time to tour around the wine yards in a golf cart!

We loved staying in Excelsior Manor House. The surroundings are beautiful, the rooms are lovely and the cuisine is exquisite. Kirstin and her staff are very kind and breakfast on the veranda was superb.

Wonderful countryside, wonderful service and an excellent dinner with a great choice of vines. Many advices for the stay and for the following trip. Many possibilities for expolring the landscape for example by bike or with a golf-cart.

A beautiful old house set on a tranquil wine estate in a picturesque area. Very comfortable room, excellent food and friendly, efficient staff. The golf cart to drive around the estate (with dog Mungo trotting alongside) is an added bonus. We return each year for our joint birthday treat!

On arrival we were given a room which was very musty and had no window. We had booked well in advance so needless to say we were disappointed. The manger moved our accommodation the next day but we did feel we had been somewhat sidelined. The manger did try and appease us by presenting us with a bottle of wine... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Excelsior Manor Guesthouse, in the heart of the Robertson Wine Valley, is a Cape Revival manor built during the ostrich feather boom of the early 1900s. Having been recently lovingly restored to its former glory, it offers quiet luxury and personal hospitality. Set in a mature and graceful garden, with shady trees and fragrant roses, the Manor has nine homely bedrooms, with ensuite bathrooms, and exudes old world charm. Generous home cooked country breakfasts and delicious three course dinners are served in the traditional dining room or on the raised deck overlooking the swimming pool with a view over the vineyards to the Langeberg mountains. Excelsior is a working wine farm which has been in the de Wet family for 5 generations since 1859. Guests are invited to explore the 250 hectare farm either on foot or in the golf cart provided. There is a tasting centre, set on the picturesque dam, where guests are invited to try the range of Excelsior Wines and to blend their 'own creation'.
