Located in a residential area, Cedar Lodge was very peaceful and welcoming. We and our friends had rooms upstairs; if you have mobility problems, these rooms would not be for you, the stairs are quite steep. Although there are several dachshund doggies on site, they might come and visit you but they're not intrusive. We had an excellent breakfast, if slightly longer than we'd reckoned on. We didn't realise till we saw the leaflet in our rooms that we could have asked for an evening meal on site. We'd stay at Cedar Lodge again.

Another great guesthouse in Robertson. Lovely pool, comfortable rooms and fantastic breakfast. And then there were all the lovely "sausage-dogs" :-) Nicely located in a quiet area and still close enough to walk to the restaurants.

Had a good weekend away in Robertson at Cedar Lodge. Well received and looked after by Paul - friendly and taking personal care. We were a group of seven staying in a family room (4), 1 double and one single. Breakfast was included in the price. The Saturday eve we had a lovely braai next to the pool, playing dominoes and just enjoying a lovely evening with family and friend. The Lodge is located in a very quiet area that seem to be very safe. Beautiful and well maintained gardens add to the tranquility of the place. The owner is in the process of erecting a fence which will make it even more secure. My wife and I stayed in the family room with another couple where there was a double bed with en-suite and two single beds. Place was neat and tidy but maybe not completely suitable for two couples. The en-suite/toilet is kinda located at the back of the room. So, you basically have to walk through the "main-bedroom" to the en-suite to use the toilet and shower. Should be good enough for a family. However, we did not mind and still enjoyed our stay. This room was fully equipped with utensils, stove, fridge, microwave, etc. I did not see the other rooms so cannot comment.

We had a very relaxing time here before heading back to Cape Town and the UK. Paul and Lynne are excellent hosts and very friendly! Paul was very helpful when we asked for recommendations for wine tastings and places to eat. We would certainly recommend this as a peaceful place to stay. The room was verycomfortable. There was a good choice of foods for breakfast and it was all well presented. The garden setting with pool is delightful.

We arrived in the morning (well before check-in time) but the owner was happy to let us check in as the room hadn’t been occupied the previous night. It’s situated in a very pleasant residential area of Robertson, close to all the town amenities. We had one of the rooms with a garden view so we were able to enjoy coffee on the small patio in front, giving on to a lovely shady garden with a small pool and to share the company of 5 friendly rescue dachshunds. We had a lovely large comfortable bed and a small en-suite shower room. It was very quiet at night and lovely to wake up to birdsong. Next morning we were served a good breakfast, cooked to order. We would happily stay there again.

Quiet location. Beautiful garden. Very comfortable bed with the best pillows ever! Delicious breakfast! Great hosts - seating on veranda - pool available! A chair in the room and a small fridge would be a great addition!

My parents came to visit for my birthday - only for one week. I wanted there stay to be comfortable and memorable. As our place wasn't big enough to stay over, I chose Cedar Lodge, it had good ratings and only good things said. I can honestly tell you that my parents loved every minute of that place! From the lovely and very spacious room to the yummy breakfast. Paul and Lynn truly took care of my folks and made sure they were comfortable. Cedar Lodge is the perfect place to stay if you are looking for comfort and that 'home away from home' - but with all the luxuries ;-)

6 of us visited Robertson a few weeks ago and checked into Cedar Lodge. The rooms are tiny, with a 12 inch. TV perched on top of the wardrobe,no space to move in the room and no chairs to sit on, only the bed. The only place to sit was outside on the verandah- not the best place in the winter. We stayed for 3 nights and had to go out all day as there is no communal lounge or area to sit with friends, maybe it's fine in the summer to sit by the pool, but is not conducive for an out of season stay. To top it all, we asked if we could braai one night as there was wood available, only to be told the next morning that we would be charged R 50 for the wood we used. I would not recommend this guest house.

Response from bugjem, Owner at Cedar Lodge Guest House
Responded 22 Jul 2016
We feel that your comments are a little unfair as you and your party chose to have your weekend getaway in the middle of winter. You were welcome to use our lounge in the main house if you had asked. We were a little surprised that you decided to braai the one evening given that the weather was not very warm. You were happy to sit outside on the patio whilst you were braaiing your meat. The charge of R50 was not for the wood at all as we had told you that you could use the wood free of charge. There were other consumables however which carried a cost which we felt we were entitled to recoup, for instance the charcoal and firelighters. We also cooked your potatoes in our microwave as they were large ones and would have taken hours to cook them in tin foil on the braai coals. When your food was ready you gladly accepted the use of our dining room where we had lit the gas heater especially for your party. My husband and I were on hand the entire evening in case there was anything you and your party needed. In fact we went out of our way the entire weekend to try to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
