Reminiscent of a traditional African safari camp, Kapama Buffalo Camp offers a unique and intimate experience in the African bush. It is ideal for discovering big game Africa in true safari tented style without compromising on comfort.Ten luxury build canvas tents, each sleeping two, are set on wooden decks built on stilts over a steep-sided riverbank. Wooden walkways interconnect the rooms, which are all in the upper reaches of tall riverine trees. The river below rarely flows and antelopes are seen daily walking along the sandy riverbed. Each tented room has all the usual comforts of electricity, en-suite bathroom, safe, writing table, wardrobe, low impact climate control, mini-bar and tea/coffee facilities. The communal areas of Buffalo Camp are on the riverbank, where gardens of succulent aloes and euphorbia are tended around the thatched bar, dining room, pool terrace and campfire. But the thick African bush is just a glance away, inhabited by animals like lion, hyena and jackal whose calls can be heard in the dead of night. Lanterns, rather than electric lights, glow at night under the trees, creating a special intimate ambience particular to Buffalo Camp. With a maximum of 20 guests at Buffalo Camp, special attention is paid to personal service and the staff become like friends. Kapama Buffalo Camp is a truly authentic way to experience the African bush.

The Kapama Buffalo Lodge went above and beyond our expectations in every way. We were picked up from the airport by our guide Monika and were driven directly to the camp where we were warmly greeted and given a tour. The entire staff is incredible. The food was out of the world.

I didn’t know what to expect when setting up a safari trip and Kapama had raised my expectations. The place was very quiet and relaxing. We did two 3 hour safaris a day. Each trip has a break and they set up a picnic with snacks and cocktails. We saw the big 5 in the first

Kapama went above and beyond our expectations for our stay. From pick up at the airport by our Ranger Ben through to departure, it was a pleasure to be at Kapama. The service was phenomenal - the Ranger, Tracker, housekeeping, waitstaff, mgmt - everyone! The food was

We are almost at the end of our 3 night stay and have had just the best time. After being met by Monica at the small airport in Hoedspruit and a speedy bag grab we set off in the Jeep on the 30 minute drive to Kapama Buffalo Camp. We drove through the reserve all the way and saw

We had a fantastic three night stay at Kapama Buffalo Camp - our booking here was a once in a lifetime safari experience we are not sure we’ll have a chance to repeat. Overall, we thought this was very good value for money given what is included - including all our alcohol,

Hi, We stayed for 3 nights back in May and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I do think 3 or 4 nights is enough and then you can move on to try someplace different. We did not try the balloon ride but did the Elephant interaction at Jabulani. It was fantastic! As far as comparing the Camps, I believe Buffalo Camp is the smallest and we liked that. Quiet and intimate, very relaxing. Two points to possibly consider; 1 - Buffalo Camp has an electrified fence surrounding the living areas so an escort is not needed after dark. 2 - We only had 4 people at the most on our safari game drives and noticed some of the vehicles from the other camps were more crowded. Maybe we were just lucky but being a small camp might be a good thing. Enjoy

With all the activities and wake-up calls at 5.30 am - you really don't want a tv in the wonderful tent room.

All inclusive. Light breakfast pre morning safari; breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffe/tea and biscuits morning safari, soft and alcoholic drinks + snacks evening safari, complimentary mini bar in your tent. Good idea to read the website and/or contact Kapama. They get back to you very quickly and are incredibly helpful.

I booked through a travel agency and spent three days here prior to joining a three week tour covering the Eastern coast of South Africa and then crossing the bottom to Capetown. The cost of the accommodation at Kapama covered all board, two safaris of three hours each per day, plus all mini bar items in the amazing rooms. You will pay extra for massages, beauty treatments and elephant interaction experiences. The lodge arranges to pick you up at Hoedspruit airport and will return you there at the end of your stay. I loved the stay here and as a result have already booked to return this year.
