We really did not know what to expect, but even if we did, I am sure the experience would have far exceeded the expectations. The accommodations are over the top - but that is just the half of it. The staff made the experience so personal and unique. They treated us like we were like old friends. Natalie, Jonathan were... More

Jackalberry lodge provides a very personalised service, Gideon our butler was so professional and was quietly and unobtrusively attentive. The game drives were fantastic ( except when we were rained off!), we saw such a variety of animals from the lions, elephants and rhinos to snakes, scorpions and a chameleon. Tom ( our ranger) really knew his stuff and managed... More

We couldn't have asked to stay in a more perfect place. The lodge is very nice and has excellent customer service. There is a watering hole nearby where the animals come to drink. If possible, stay in room 6 or 7. The deck is on the "wild-side" of the BOMA and buffalo, warthogs, zebras and even a rhino will stop... More

My sister & I stayed at this excellent lodge, on the Thornybush Game reserve, for an evening & 2 complete days. We booked it through Trailfinders. Our stay was an amazing adventure, gong on 4 game drives. Our ranger & tracker gave us a great deal of fascinating information, & showed us the big 5 in game animals, plus so... More

A group of 6 of us booked our stay through Lion World Travel this October at Jackalberry Lodge and to say it was amazing would be an understatement. The rooms were comfortable, clean and well stocked with anything we could've asked for. Our game driver Willie and tracker Thembe were fun, knowledgeable and allowed us multiple successful big 5 sightings!... More

This was part of the Lion World Travel safari package. Driving in from the local airport I was sure what to expect for accommodations. We were met by smiling, engaging, personnel who developed relationships with their guests. The views from the cottages were outstanding as you watched wild life from your patio. Although it was not what you'd consider modern... More

We booked our trip with Lion World Travel ( this was one of their tours) after reading the great reviews of Jackalberry Lodge. This was our first Safari and package travel trip...and we loved it! We saw the Big 5 up close...and more. The lodge only has 7 chalets which makes it a nice size group of people. We actually... More

If you’re like me and you’re searching for extra kernels of information about an unknown locale, you’re hoping to gain some of that additional insight here on this site. Unfortunately, prior to our trip, I really didn’t learn much more other than how amazing this place is. That’s great! I’m so glad, but tell me something that can help me... More

When I arrived I was given a little intro and was told I would have my own butler. OK, that should have made me realize that I was about to live something other worldly. Gideon the butler was fantastic and was there to ensure my stay was comfortable, I was well-fed (was I ever!!), and met me with a brandy... More

So fourth year in a row staying at Jackalberry Lodge in Thornybush, guess that kind of makes me a fan. We opted to stay five nights this time, which gave us enough time to see pretty much everything we'd dreamed of. The lodge itself hasn't changed much since my first visit in 2005 which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But... More
