We loved every moment! We saw so many animals we felt like we were on Nat Geo. From watching the wild dogs run with all their might to catch their prey (and successfully doing so!), to watching the lions mating repeatedly (lol!), to seeing the giraffes chilling out, the rhinos

Hello Shirley28, Madikwe Game Reserve is owned by North West Parks Board (National Park). We are allowed to go off road in many areas but there are some areas where off loading, for example on the plains where the soil is sensitive. Some areas have too many rocks which makes off-roading impossible. There are rules in place with regards to how many vehicles are allowed in a sighting - limited to maximum 3, sometimes even 2 vehicles. No guests are allowed to drive themselves around on game drive roads so you only see proper game drive vehicles driven by qualified field guides. All field guides are in contact with each other via radio so they work together to track and find animals. Regards, Regards,

What do women wear to dinner?
Hello Lynda2040, Thank you for your question. There is no dress code: some guests like dress up whilst others come to dinner in the same clothing they wore on safari. Most guests wear smart casual to dinner. Regards,

Hello Shirley2810, We are open the whole year through, also over Christmas and New Years. On Christmas morning you will go on a 3 hour safari. On return you will enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the main deck overlooking the watering hole. Lunch is served at 13h00 In the afternoon you will go an another 3 hour safari. Dinner in the evening is a lovely buffet including traditional South African dishes. The dining-room is decorated in a Christmas theme. The weather in December is very hot. Day time temperatures average between 30 and 40 degrees Celsius. The evenings cool down to an average of 20 to 30 degrees. It is our rainy season but we live in a semi-desert area so it rarely rains more than once every two weeks. Rain storms are quick, usually less than an hour. We do not experience drizzle often. Since Madikwe is a fenced reserve, the animals are around throughout the whole year. Big 5, cheetahs, wild dogs and a whole bunch of general game. Regards,
