If you need uber-modern, if you need flash, you should go somewhere else. The Hotel La Fonda de Taos is an 1800s adobe charmer on the Plaza. The rooms are comfortable, the staff are uniformly friendly and competent. Most of what you are coming to Taos to see is within walking

My wife and I stayed here on out honeymoon in 1983, and just returned this year. The rooms are not large; its an old hotel, not the style when it was built. But the ambiance of the interior and the little touches distinguish it from modern hotels. Pricewise it is cheaper than

We would love to take credit for your lovely stay, but you have posted it to Hotel La Fonda de Taos not La Fonda on the Plaza. We are not connected but do share the historic Northern New Mexico vibe. We're glad that our sister in name only hotel gave you a a great return experience!

The size of the rooms is part of the historic nature, but the ceiling plaster is scheduled to be repaired. Thanks again for staying with us and sharing your thoughts!

We are so sorry that your stay coinsided with the Town of Taos' work on the Plaza. They didn't give us any warning of the work, either. It only lasted a couple of days, but we have never had any luck getting the Town to think of our guests when they begin or stop their projects. We hope you had an enjoyable visit away from the noise!
