Take a trip down memory lane to a time where the luxury of time to take in the sights of America, one small town to the next, existed via Route 66. Kevin & Nancy Mueller purchased this unique 12 room motel several years ago and have given those who stay there a peak into this slice of South West Americana...

If there was a way to give Kevin and Nancy more than 5 stars, I would in a heartbeat! If you are going anywhere near Tucumcari, NM, Blue Swallow Motel is a must stop. My Uncle and I were driving my 1939 Ford Woodie from CA to PA and had planned to stop at a few motels on Route 66....

Each year as we travel from IL to AZ, The Blue Swallow is the one hotel stay we always look forward to. It is such fun to experience the nostalgia of old Route 66 at this lovely, restored motel. The owners, Nancy and Kevin are the perfect hosts, and they are always willing to share stories and offer warm hospitality...

Lillian Redman's 40-year record of hospitality on Route 66 is a hard act to follow, but we do work hard to honor her traditions, and to make sure we provide a comfortable, friendly "home away from home" for our guests. Thanks for staying with us, and we hope you will visit again when your travels bring you through our little...

On our way from Minnesota to Arizona we picked this spot for a nights stay based on the great reviews. Loved the back to the 50s feel and the personal touch from the proprietors. Clean and comfortable.

After a long day of driving, this was a welcome site. The bed was great and the charm was amazing. Beautifully restored back to 1939. Clean, quiet and the hosts were like family. If you are doing the Route 66 tour or just want to remember your childhood, stop in and spend the night. It will be worth the trip.

Amazingly awesome motor lodge! Very clean! Comfortable beds with wonderful bedding. Wifi is fast and easy connection! We stayed in the Redman Suite and the claw foot tub was a huge plus! VERY friendly staff had great ideas on tours and dining options.

We had been on a trip out West and were driving Rt. 66 home. We were looking for the classic experience. It really felt like we had stepped back in time. They had kept things original, but still functional and clean! We loved our stay at the Blue Swallow.

Stopped by on the way from Durango to Ft. Worth. Usually drive without stopping but it was a snowstorm the night before and driving was slower than usual so we made the decision to stop for the night in Tucumcari, Found the Blue Swallow on Trip Advisor and was pleased. After checking in, the owner showed us the room and...

We were drawn to this motel by virtue of it being on Route 66. The owners were so welcoming and the place has been renovated in style. A microwave, fridge and ice machine were available in a separate area, a couple doors down from our room. Makes a lot of sense for energy savings. A couple of restaurants were also...

We stayed here for our second time over New Years weekend. We love Route 66, neon and nostalgia. Kevin and his family have maintained all three at the Blue Swallow. Thank you so much for keeping Route 66 alive!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
BREAK THE CHAIN! Travel just a short distance away from the I-40 off-ramp to experience the best of the past, with old-fashioned hospitality that is all too rare these days. The Blue Swallow Motel is a classic Motor Court established in 1939 on historic Route 66, and one of few anywhere still operating in its original configuration. Rooms are clean and comfortable, but retain an authentic feel from the heyday of route 66 travel. Premium creature comforts including wonderful mattresses, spa-like towels, and Desert Breeze organic shampoo, soap, and lotion. Most rooms include a garage to make you feel more at home while you are on the road, and these are perfect for parking your motorcycle or classic car for the night. All rooms are non-smoking. One of the best neon displays on Route 66! Come spend a memorable night and experience the home-style hospitality of a bygone era at the Blue Swallow Motel! ... more   less
