I needed some me time, away from town noise of vehicles then Nkwazi came into my mind and I don't regret. Birds singing, boat ride on the Kavango river, cultural dances and a camping experience inwardly rewarding. Visit the place, enjoy the beauty of Africa. Pics not available.

Went on a business Tiger Fishing trip, was a great experience. The lodge is well organized and the staff treated us to a great fishing experience. Will go back for a return visit. The chalets are neat and a great stay

We spent three nights at the lodge with our south African family. A rustic and peaceful location with excellent attentive staff. Getting close to nature and feeling like you are so at one with nature. We had a boat safari I have never seen so many crocodiles up close! Also hippos so close and huge! Great place a must

We were in a group of 7 fishermen/woman and we fished 2 in a boat for 3 days. The fishing was extremely difficult compared with previous years due to the drastic drought situation in KZN. But we had an amazing time there, the food absolutely outstanding. The lodge is very well designed and has plenty of cozy areas where one...

Nkwazi Lake Lodge is situated in the Pongola Game Reserve on a cliff overlooking the Pongola River as it enters Jozini dam. The view from the Main deck & most of the rooms is absolutely amazing & numerous wild animals & birds can be viewed without leaving the Lodge. The food quality was good & well cooked without being anything...

It's difficult to speak highly enough of NLL. We only stayed one day as we were en-route. James and his team do a great job. The accommodation is not "luxury", but it's very clean & spacious. The staff are enthusiastic and the food was home cooked. Drinks were sensibly priced. The location is stunning, and allows the visitor to experience...

Firstly, given the pricing being so competitive perhaps this could be deemed a five star destination. The setting and the views and the activities are superb (unrivalled Tiger fishing on the 13000ha Lake Jozini), bush drives, croc watching, all uniformly superb. Only negatives are the rooms (which are spacious, tastefully decorated and all with a roomy verandah with fridge, and...

Always a peaceful place to stop over for a couple of days. Stunning deck overlooking the Pongola river and the Pongola game reserve area. Great fishing offered, boat cruises and game drives. Not the most child friendly place but keep an eye on them and they will have a blast. So much running around to do.

This Lodge has everything you need to relax and enjoy the wild life in and around the lake. The view is breath taking, but hang on, what about the accommodation. Well, I stayed in the all inclusive lodges overlooking the lake and the decor, the comfort and the plumbing- yes I'm all about the essentials these days, the bathroom; these...

We Spent a Couple of Hours Here on our way out of the Southern Pongola Reserve. We were told to come and have a drink and have a look at the Resort before we left and it was well worth our While. They have Spectacular Views over the Pongola River. From all the Chalets and The Bar and Dinning Area....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Few exclusive yet affordable private getaways combine the scenic variety of bushveld, mountains, major water bodies and a range of leisure activities that make the best of all the natural features. This combination, an abundance of space and the results of a "light footprint" development philosophy are key ingredients of the special experience offered by Pongola Game Reserve, Pongola Game Reserve in northern KwaZulu Natal. The reserve extends over part of the original area that, in 1894, was declared the Pongola Game Reserve by Paul Kruger, President of the old Transvaal Republic. The original reserve has since been re-proclaimed, in part, as the Phongolo Nature Reserve, which is the present Pongola Game Reserve's immediate neighbour. The business is owned and managed by the Landman family who's ancestors arrived in the Cape in 1744. The Pongola River, broad and perennial, meanders through the centre of the reserve before entering the man-made 13 276 hectare lake. It provides a leisure environment unique for a South African bushveld destination. Safari cruises, canoe adventures, birding and tiger fishing are among the main activities. The area is home to many typical plains game species, four of the Big Five (excluding lion), Hippopotumas and crocodile. It is also a birding "hotspot". Over 350 species have so far been recorded here. One can also enjoy the experience of tracking rhino on foot and participating in the elephant monitoring programme. Please take your time and enjoy your visit to our website and please feel free to make a booking enquiry if you are interested in visiting the Pongola Game Reserve. The reserve is 450km from Johannesburg and 350km from Durban. ... more   less
