I visited here in January with my parents and partner. It was my 30th birthday and I wanted to go on a trip to remember. I definitely wasn’t disappointed! We were due to stay here for 3 nights but unfortunately our flight with BA got cancelled and we ended up missing a days/night. On arrival, the staff were extremely sympathetic to our situation and got us checked in immediately. We met Tom our ranger and John straightaway. As I had already spent most of my birthday on the flight (due to the delay), Tom was keen for us to get out on the drive so we could see the animals. Our first drive was incredible and we were able to see everything (the big five and more!). It was the most surreal and breathtaking experience. The rangers are so knowledgable and I don’t know how anyone could complain. The staff at this lodge are extremely kind and hardworking. The food was delicious and it was lovely to eat dinner with the other guests. The staff even arranged a birthday cake for me. My experience here was second to none and I look forward to returning (hopefully) next year. 😀…
We got married at Ulusaba last November and couldn’t have imagined a more perfect location for our special day. Everything was fantastic from the room, to the game drives, the food and drink, the service and of course the amazing setting and views from the lodge! A trip we will never forgot and memories to last a lifetime! 🦒
Well this was our 3rd trip to Ulusaba and I have to say it was every bit as good as the other two. It’s not just the game drives (thanks to Liam and David who were great fun and so knowledgeable) its the whole package, every member of staff bends over backwards to make sure you have the best time possible. Special mention for Patience, 20yrs service coming up and was a real diamond.
When we were met at the airport by our guide, Liam and our tracker, David, we knew immediately that we were going to have the time of our lives. The wealth of knowledge and personal stories that Liam and David shared with us, along with the countless encounters with the animals on our game drives, made this trip better than we ever could have imagined. Staying in Cliff Lodge with our family, we had the most spectacular view from high above the landscape. The staff, Jeannine and our chef, Neil, truly made us feel at home while living in luxury. They accommodated every dietary restriction and shared countless stories as well. We were there over New Years Eve and were treated to a party under tents in the bush, complete with a theme (masquerade) and surprise entertainment - traditional African dances from a local student troupe - great food and such a unique setting. We will never forget it. The fact that Ulusaba had their own airstrip made coming and going a flawless endeavor - just watching Liam and David wave goodbye to us as we took off brought tears to our eyes to have to admit that our time in Africa was over... we'd go back in a second!…
We stayed 5 nights with our two toddlers. Travelling with kids this age to Kruger made us rather high maintenance guests and we thought the whole team at Rock Lodge did a really exceptional job at giving us all a magical safari holiday. Our ranger and tracker were exceptional, Llane the manager was one of the kindest people we encountered on our holiday, Vickers made evenings always memorable and we would happily have taken Gabriel the chef home in our suitcase as his food was consistently outstanding. Our room was the Rock Suite - we had some issues with cleanliness on check in, noise (the room is next to the car park and the area that the staff hang out), and generally feel like the lodge needs some money spent on it (it’s very dated in parts) in order to have the quality of accommodation match the quality of service. Our rating is a 5 reflecting the service being a 6+ and the accommodation a 3/4. …
