Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Set in beautiful gardens the host of this beautiful guest house will give you a memorable stay. The thatched house is decorated so nicely inside and the bedroom is extremely comfortable. The large outside space has something for everyone, a pool, a rose garden and two large seating areas. The breakfast gets five star reviews, it is excellent. It is a lovely place to stay, relax and chill out. Not to be missed.

A brilliant visit both there and back. Seven of us. Excellent rooms, venue and great hosts. Marlene went out of her way with delicious breakfasts . We love the area and the house never disappoints. Under new management and Marlene certainly enthusiastic and keen to please. Love the little Cgardonnay Vinyard over the road and the pool.and rose garden.

Port wine (the street facing rooms) look out over the boplaas vineyards and the back rooms a lovely courtyard. Rooms are comfortable and well decorated. Hosts are very welcoming. Good rates too. While they didn't cater (breakfasts due to covid), there are lots of lovely restaurants in the area.

Thank you for a wonderful stay - Waldo is a friendly and caring host who went out of his way to accommodate requests - even special take-away breakfast packs when (currently) they do not even offer breakfast! Great location, safe parking - couldn't ask for more!

Room was definately not checked. No teaspoons, no sugar or coffee. Luckily we brought our own. No fridge in the room for milk etc. Only 1 glass. No shower mat. Waldo attended to the matter.. TV was out of order !!! No small bedside mats. The pillows was old and flat as pancakes. When my sister got into bed, there wasn't a bottom sheet on, only a very dirty mattress cover, the top sheet was crinkled as though somebody slept in the bed. Waldo gave my sister another room to sleep in

PortWine Guest House was the perfect weekend spot. The heritage building is beautiful and the rooms were very comfortable, clean and inviting. Thank you to Waldo for attending to our needs and pointing us in the right direction for a fabulous breakfast. The complimentary Boplaas port was delicious and is a 4 minute walk if you need to buy a bottle. Would recommend this establishment.

This was a lovely guesthouse. Although it is right on the road, it is quiet and peaceful. Meticulously neat, with a lovely outside patio. Waldo was a fantastic host - friendly, knowledgeable and very ready to help. I would definitely stay here again

We only stayed one night but very much enjoyed the Port Wine Guest House. Decor is warm and charming, and host/owner Waldo was super friendly and concerned about our well-being. Our room was spacious and the sweet scent of the thatch made it a special experience. We particularly appreciated the a/c given the room was on the second floor. Breakfast ample and tasty. Thank you Waldo and Angelina!

We loved the look of this guesthouse and enjoyed our overnight stay. It was a nice touch for the host to offer a complimentary glass of port. The breakfast was beautifully presented and delicious. The hosts have plans for this guest house and we wish them the best of luck

We had a fantastic couple of nights here while on a cycling tour of the Western Cape. The house is absolutely beautiful and the rooms very comfortable and clean. Waldo and Angelina are great hosts and we enjoyed a fantastic breakfast they prepared. We were able to braai ourselves one night which was great, while the other night we enjoyed a restaurant they suggested. The grounds and pool are great just for hanging around and relaxing in between venturing out to explore the town and visit some of the nearby wine farms. Highly recommend!
