Although the web site for Die Gat says "near De Rust" it isn't really. It's quite a drive down the tar road before turning off onto a gravel road for another few kms to the farm. The buildings are all very old and a bit rustic, so don't expect doors to close perfectly but we were quite comfortable. Our room...

Something different. Beautiful, peaceful and spacious rooms. Feels and looks like you visiting your grandmother with all the small detail and antiques. Home made dinner is a must! The boere hospitality is so refreshing. We stayed there 3x already and will go again....Only no Internet reception the rooms.

Our stay at Die Gat was not a surprise - not after the wonderful Trip Advisor reviews anyway. It is a beautifully run little guest house with some of the most gorgeous gardens I've seen in years. The bedroom furnishings were very traditional and not exactly my style but the love and dedication that went into their design, cleanliness and...

What a pleasant surprise in the middle of the klein Karoo! This place is an oasis for the tired traveller! Wonderful true boere hospitality! The gardens are lush and the rooms reflect a feel of karoo times gone by! The best is the food! I had some pretty good dinners in Franschhoek and Cape Town but none as good as...

Stayed here over the weekend of the Meiringspoort half marathon. Quaint rooms, beautiful gardens with a pool for those hot days. Great hosts and a very peaceful setting right on the doorstep of De Rust. Highly recommended for anyone traveling through De Rust

A lovely quiet secluded spot with an approach road not for the faint hearted. First class food offering with an enchanting table lay out for all meals. Garden area secluded and comfortable and opportunity for lovely walks nearby. Tariffs for the beverages not made clear and no card payment can be made at this guest house.

A beautiful and unique place to stay in the Karoo – charmingly decorated lodges situated in very well-kept gardens. Delicious breakfast and dinner – lovingly presented with beautiful table decorations. Even as a vegetarian I felt very well looked after. Anton and Susan are very friendly and traditional hosts. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and can highly recommend it!

We choose Die Gat based on Tripadvisor reviews for an overnight stop on our Route 62 trip and were not disappointed. The highlight most definitely being the evening meal around a shared table that was beautifully decorated. The food was fantastic traditional Afrikaans fare, with superb roast lamb. Some of the foreign guests went back for 4th servings they were...

This was my fourth visit to Die Gat. First 02 then 05 then 07 and now June 2014 so I do like it here. I was introducing my friend to the Cape and compiled a trip of cape Town , Franchhoek , Hermanus and the Garden Route finishing with De rust and then back to Cape Town completing a 1...

We were recommended Die Gat by friends, so thought we'd give it a try. We stayed 3 nights in the aptly named "honeymoon suite". If you want the sterile environment of a hotel chain then forget this place - it has to be one of the most unusual places we've been to. The rooms are full of character - some...

“The Cango Caves a must as well as the wildlife experience in Oudtshoorn a must where you have a one to one with Cheetahs truly one of the highlights of your visit. Oudtshoorn a truly lovely place to visit also. Do not book dinner elsewhere,,, no need. You will feel left out of the whole package Die Gat has to offer. The culinary experience here is one the reasons of a great stay here.”
