This was a great experience. The food was gourmet, the horses were gentle and responsive, and the cabins were well-maintained, cozy and comfortable. We felt safe during Covid - meals were delivered to our room, everyone wore masks and social distancing was easily maintained. The rides were amazing. We were able to see remnants of and learn about indigenous people from a thousand years ago. Really fascinating geography and history.
An overall spectacular experience! Outstanding hard working and friendly people! Outstanding and very well taken care of horses! The type of food you would get at a 5 star restaurant and lots of it! A true back to nature vacation with no phones, no computers, no noise except the occasional bugling of a bull elk or the call of a coyote. This was my first time here, but not my last. I have already booked for 2021. Check it out, you will be glad you did!
The most important thing to me in selecting a ranch trip is the quality of the riding, Geronimo Trail checks all the boxes. The horses are responsive, well cared for and well-loved. There are blue gramma meadows to roam, mountains to climb, creek beds to ford, forests to bushwhack and plenty of room to jog or lope. Added to that, there are 3.3 million acres of Gila National Forest to explore and social distance in. Our November trip included superb weather, year round spring fed streams to wade in and sightings of havalina, elk and coatimundi.
I could wax on but I won't. I'll handle this the cowboy way. Review their website; they deliver on every promise made. Enough said! Tripadvisor won't let me get away with writing less than 200 word. It's clear they aren't in the " less is more camp". Wonderful staff, well cared for horses, high quality tack, delicious food, comfortable accommodations and 3 million acres of wilderness to explore on horseback or by foot. No motorized vehicles allowed off road, no cell phone service or internet. Star filled skys at night, clear blue by day. Awe inspiring vistas, cool streams meandering through deep gorges. Ancient ruins as well as remnants of the more recent homestead era. If you aren't on board yet you should probably consider Disney World.
The owners of the ranch, Seth and Meris, were very welcoming and friendly. They immediately put us at ease. Their chef, Fred, was incredible! We had the most fantastic food! Everything was homemade and delicious! My hubby and I are both senior citizens with severe arthritis so we weren't sure we'd be able to ride. Well, they made sure we got to ride. We both ended up taking two wonderful rides that we will remember forever. The horses were very gentle. Their other "rangler", Laura was so sweet. She served our meals, helped with the horses. It felt like a home away from home. Very quiet and peaceful. We will definitely return.
