A wonderful game reserve location. The guides were fantastic (thanks OBED) and the common area of this lodge was amazing. They have a bore hole for water and each day/night animals would visit. We had almost 18 giraffe once, and 45 elephants visited one evening. The food was exceptional and the games drives really made the experience.

Savute Safari Lodge was absolutely amazing. I have to start with the incredible talent of our guide, Obed. It was amazing watching him use all his talents, senses, and experiences to introduce us to the wildlife of Botswana. But the whole team at Savute was wonderful - including the management and all the staff. So friendly and welcoming. Loved the open bar (24/7!), the great food, the accommodations, and the gentle-but-early morning wake up calls. We appreciated their infectious love for Botswana and their respect for the land and wildlife. Strongly recommend Savute for at least three nights. And I didn't even mention the watering hole adjacent to the camp - we ate with elephants, giraffes, antelope, and a single hippo that wandered in one day.

This was our second stay at Desert & Delta’s Savute Safari Lodge and once again it did not disappoint! Our guide Vee was amazing, and delivered incredible game drives every time! We saw lots of lions and baby cubs and even saw them mating! We also saw leopards and their cubs that were so cute and of course at the camp watering hole we were privileged to see many elephants, giraffes and other animals visiting daily! Charity was so warm and friendly and made sure everything was perfect for us. We were treated like VIP’s as this was our second visit and surprised with a candle lit dinner on our last night for my husband and I and our son and daughter in law! It was so lovely and touching! The food was delicious each and every meal and the chef really catered to our dietary restrictions. The bread!!!The rooms were pristine and comfortable! The entire staff were outstanding and couldn’t have been more hospitable! It was an amazing stay and I highly recommend this camp for an authentic, luxurious and memorable safari experience!

Savute Safari Lodge Operated by Desert & Delta Safaris (see below) this was our 3rd safari destination on a 4 centre itinerary across Botswana booked through Okavango Delta Explorations (see below). After stays at two Desert & Delta camps in the Moremi Game Reserve area of the Delta, we had moved onto the Savute area in the Chobe National Park. Greeted at the airstrip by our guide, Isaac, whom we had requested, we were made to feel special and immediately at home. Straight onto a mini game drive as a way of getting to the lodge. Upon arrival we were greeted by manager Yompy and his team, then showed to our room and what a room!!! A view across the watering hole which was to die for and the room itself was stunning too! Daily activities here were all game drives in open vehicles, morning & afternoon. Like previous Desert & Delta camps we had stayed at on this trip so far, the food throughout the day was astounding, as was the service. Worthy of note is the included laundry service which is fabulous. Taken in the morning and back in the room late afternoon; washed, dried, ironed and folded. Special thanks to our guide, Isaac, who was always mindful of positioning with photography in mind which was perfect for us and the other guests on the jeep, as they too had high end cameras and long lenses. We particularly loved Isaac’s ‘Patience, patience, patience’ sighting whereby he knew there was a Wild Dog den with the youngest pups in but didn’t let on until the adults returned with food for said pups. This gave us one of our most memorable Wild Dog sighting ever! And then there were the lion cubs, 8 of them with 4 lionnesses on a Kudu carcass - Isaac, you are the Mane Man! ;) Special thanks to Yompy and the team for our special anniversary meal on our last night there too. Having such a wonderful meal together with a view of what seemed like 100’s of elephants walking one way then the other along the watering hole before us was pure magic. Thank you all, so special and unforgettable #magical #specialmemories Operated by Desert & Delta Safaris Words cannot begin to describe how amazing Desert & Delta Safaris are. They provided my wife & I with one of, if not the best holiday experiences - ever! 12 nights taking in 4 of their safari destinations across Botswana being Camp Xakanaxa, Camp Okavango, Savute Safari Lodge & Chobe Game Lodge (see separate reviews for each establishment) afforded us not only wildlife beyond our dreams but also the most amazing service, environments and experiences we could have wished for. This being a postponed trip from 2020 due to travel restrictions then, became our Silver 25th Wedding Anniversary trip in June 2023. Desert & Delta Safaris, not only did what they said they would but exceeded our expectations in every respect. From the outset of booking this trip via Okavango Delta Explorations (see below), all our requests were honoured; for example, specific guide at Savute, recommended room at Savute, private meal at Chobe. And then they added special treats for us around our anniversary too, just amazing. The attention to detail, the slick operation throughout, the impeccable service, the wonderful staff, the fabulous food, the awesome guides, the rooms - EVERYTHING was just perfect. For mentions of specific staff at each place we stayed, please see those reviews. Notable commendation and thanks here to Andrew of Desert & Delta Safaris, as your help in making our dream trip come true was above and beyond. Even before travelling, your help when the 2020 trip was cancelled, during the planning, booking and ultimately even whilst we were there, showed us that Desert & Delta Safaris is a fantastic company to travel with. And now we have experienced the magic, we know this notion was well founded and now proven, as we would not hesitate to recommend Desert & Delta Safaris and will be staying with you again in the future to take in more of beautiful Botswana. Booked via Okavango Delta Explorations If you are looking for an experienced, knowledgeable, helpful and friendly tour operator for a bespoke trip to Botswana, look no further. From the outset, Louise was fantastic! We had some ideas of what we would like to do around the Okavango Delta and Chobe area of Botswana with a visit to Victoria Falls tagged on the end, after all this was going to be a super special trip for our 25th silver wedding anniversary but had no idea how to put such a tour together. We’d looked at standard tour packages with the likes of Virgin Holidays but they had pulled them from their brochures after the pandemic. Based on our initial emails and follow up phone calls, Louise created the perfect personal, bespoke itinerary for us consisting of 3 nights at each of 4 Desert & Delta Safari camps/lodges being Camp Xakanaxa, Camp Okavango, Savute Safari Lodge and Chobe Game Lodge (see separate reviews), culminating in 2 nights at a family run guest house at Victoria Falls. The process was not only exactly what we needed, affording us as it happened, a magical trip which exceeded all expectations but was also easy and an enjoyable experience. Lots of comms which Louise did not mind about at all, always eager to help and iron out any issues we thought may arise. Louise covered everything, from the availability/order of camps/lodges to the transfers between them, any special requests we had around our anniversary celebrations and even provided us with all the documents and information about our dream trip via the Vamoos App. This meant everything was all in one place and Louise could update at her end and message us via it with gate details for departures whilst we were at the airport, for example. Superb service throughout. Even had a call from the local rep at Victoria Falls to check if all OK on our final day before we departed. Special thanks to Louise too for the notes we found in our rooms along the way and the bubbles at Batonka to celebrate the end of a stunning trip. Would recommend Okavango Delta Explorations and Louise within a heartbeat and will most certainly be contacting Louise again when we plan our return to Botswana.

A group of 23 of us spent three amazing days and nights at Savute in mid-June. This was one of 5 Desert & Delta lodges we stayed at, and it was by far everybody’s favorite between Chobe, Xakanaxa and Okavango. First, the lodgings—amazing! Where else in the world can you dine and watch families of elephants come and go? The staff—amazing. They knew everyone’s names after a single day, and went out of their way to genuinely make your visit as amazing as possible. There were so many staff who made our trip special that it’s impossible to name them all. The wildlife viewing was out of this world—prides of lions with their cubs, a leopard with its kill in a tree, large families of elephants, the African wild dogs with their pups, two cheetahs, and the usual array of everything else, close-up and personal Special shout-out to our guide and never-to-be-forgotten friend K.T. Who made every game ride special. He is truly a gifted guide and by far the best we have had on two safari trips to Africa. His ability to read animal behavior was astounding and led us to a Lion pride with cubs. K.T. Went to the ends of the world to get us the absolute best view and we all felt so blessed to have him as our guide. His new nickname: “Maverick”. We didn’t want to leave and would have gladly stayed at Savute for the rest of our trip. Savute will always be in our hearts.

This was the first lodge we stayed in on our honeymoon safari trip. The staff were very friendly, the room was large and very comfortable, and we had a wonderful few days. We stayed two nights and wished we had stayed for a third. On our last night the staff set us up a beautiful private dinner to celebrate our honeymoon, which we really appreciated. Our guide Lynn went above and beyond to make sure we got to see a leopard, as well as helping to show us to all of the other amazing animals this part of Chobe has to offer. All of the staff were clearly very committed as they worked incredibly long days and are away from their families for long stints. Like other lodges, there is no heating in the rooms so if you are coming in the dry season, come prepared for some very cold mornings! We loved hearing the animals at night but if you are a light sleeper you may want to bring earplugs. Note we were in room 8 and the view of the water hole was amazing, but not all rooms had a view so I think we were lucky with this! The wifi was consistently strong but again we may have benefitted from our room being near the common areas.

Super location on a water hole with constant animal viewing. the rooms are super comfortable, large with room to lounge around, big deck. The Lodge is great for the in between times, with lots of overstuffed sofas overlooking the dining, deck, pool area with a great view of the water hole. The game drives were spectacular with Conrad finding a leopard 30 minutes after we got off the plane! Great lion encounters with babies!. Wild dog families. Once again the Desert and Delta Safari Staff were all A++. If smiles were worth a dollar apiece they would all be millionaires!

Wow. What a beautiful lodge. As it was explained there is a 3d wide screen tv :) this was the view from lounge and dining area on to the waterhole. Extremely good wildlife sightings which included leopards (with kill) wild dogs, lions as well as giraffe, buffalo and impala. Thank you to the staff who were absolutely lovely. Many thanks to Isaac who made our game drives so interesting. I cannot recommend this lodge highly enough to those wanting the see the real Africa.
