Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely delighted to make this find! Superb, individual quality accommodation, cleanliness and comfort which is great value for money. Beautiful quiet location and was just so user friendly - I turned up, was immediately shown to the accommodation and then left to relax. Just handed the keys back next morning. Plentiful hot water, wifi worked really well, quality smellies and good selection of tea, coffee and water. Soft towels and included a face cloth which is often not provided. Easy parking. Will be my go to place when needing to stay in this area from now on!

Really friendly host. Immaculately clean. Superb peaceful location within reach of numerous places to visit and the best pubs for meals out. Amazing bath! Really cool to have a change to try clay shooting. Would highly recommend and very likely to stay again.

A group of us returned to Common Leys taking it exclusively for a long weekend to include all the cottages and camping field, after a successful visit in 2021. Allie and Doug are fabulous hosts and make you feel very welcomed. The cottages are cosy and comfortable and have everything you need. The camping field was accommodated our group of caravans, motorhomes, campervans and tents without being on top of each other. Electrical hook ups are included in the nightly cost. Showers, toilets and wash up facilities available just off the field. Sunday morning was spent watching the boys take part in Clay Pigeon Shooting and then having drinks in the bar late afternoon. We have already booked for 2023 - can't wait to return!

We've absolutely loved our stay here. The farm is at the end of a lane and you drive through the shooting range before you get to the house. The car park is around the back. We stayed in Willow cottage, which has a bathroom bedroom and kitchen. We have a small sitting area and two main doors. One takes us out to the car park and we have table and chairs out that side and then the other door takes us out to the courtyard. Again table and chairs. The area is soooooo quite and beautiful. The kitchen is well equipped and the fridge is an under unit fridge. It comes with a small amount of milk and orange juice (super grateful for that). They supply teabags, coffee and sugar. There is a small freezer compartment with an ice tray. If you're coming for the shooting like we did, they open the bar (it's cash only so make sure you have some). There are so many walks that you can do. We didn't really have time for any. Supermarkets aren't far but you need to drive. We haven't found a local shop so make sure you grab what you need. We went to Thame and there is a waitrose there. Thame is a small town but beautiful. The cottage has been a home away from home. It does get chilli on the farm, make sure you pack layers. We've been really lucky and had the most amazing weather. Our hosts were absolutely wonderful and really made us feel at home. You're left to your own devices and come and go as you feel. We would highly recommend this beautiful farm. Thank you for an amazing break.

Stayed here for 3 nights in Country Cottage. It really needed some attention to detail regarding cleaning and facilities. There were no heating controls so had to put up with it too hot or cold. Although the owners came and turned down the radiator thermostatic valves there was no control over when the boiler was on. There was dust on top of the wardrobe and a few cobwebs in corners. The pillows were not clean under the covers and the bedspread had a mark on it. The extractor in the shower room was very dusty. Three frying pans in the cupboard all very worn and useless. The kitchen equipment was stained and worn. Two strange pots in the kitchen containing salt and pepper that had obviously had someone's fingers in!! Light switches and sockets could have done with a wipe over and the kitchen bin needed replacing. Small flies kept appearing over the three days. The gardens were lovely and very well kept and the owners pleasant and helpful but overall would not stay again.

Response from Allie Cherry, Owner at Common Leys Farm
Responded 16 Mar 2022
In all of our 25 years of welcoming guests into our lovely 500 year old barn conversion in the grounds of our Tudor farm we have never had anybody who has not managed to turn the radiator valves up or down to control the heating. We all work very hard to ensure everything is cleaned and refreshed before every new arrival, unfortunately things may not look brand new but they are clean! We do apologise about the dust on top of the high wardrobe and the few cobwebs in the high cottage celings, and we are sorry if this also spoilt your stay. We are so happy that you thought the gardens and the courtyard area were lovely, these are constantly worked on for our guests to enjoy. We are also very happy that you found myself and my wife very pleasant, thank you. In the future we do feel when staying in the area, a more modern form of accommodation may suit you both better than our 500 year old barn conversion.

Stayed here in our campervan for two nights, nice field and hard standing to choose from with electric. Very quiet, showers were hot and clean, also lots of hot water for washing up area. With lots of quirky features all round the site!!! Helpful and friendly owner. Would definitely stay here again. Good location for Oxford and Blenheim palace.

We were a group of friends who took over the estate privately - using all 5 lodges with caravans and tent in the camping field. We had one of the lodges (Keepers) which was large, clean and very cosy. The room had a huge comfortable king bed and we both slept so well during our 3 night stay. It was great to have separate kitchen area and the ensuite shower room provided hot and powerful shower. Allie and Doug are great hosts - on the Saturday night we had a BBQ and drinks located in their "bar" and outside dining area. We had so much fun and the BBQ food was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble. Every other Sunday the clay pigeon shooting ground is open so of course lots of people attending but this didn't interfere with our stay - although you could hear all the shots! Two of our party had a go at the shooting with a personal instructor which they enjoyed very much. As we were the only group there we were able to stay sitting outside playing music and chatting without disturbing anyone else. We will definitely return - thank you!

Visited as part of a clay pigeon shoot meet-up. Lovely location, very private, secluded and safe. Facilities are really good and the attention to detail is high. The wardens and instructors know the place well, are both helpful and safety conscious. The little bar / garden area is a fantastic addition, hopefully on the next meet will get to try out the food a bit more. Well worth a visit
