Great area, friendly check in, clean room. Older motel, but it’s been well kept. Bathroom was update in recent years, comfortable bed. Kitchen was great & outside cooking/seating is a great addition and behind motel. Beautiful Mountain View’s. Quiet & clean location. Free Netflix & Hulu & great wifi. Enjoyed our 2 night stay.

We stayed here for 3 nights to do some bicycling on the nearby beautiful trails. The motel totally met our needs: we loved having the kitchen as we mostly bring our own food, we had lots of space for all of our stuff including keeping our bikes inside the room at night and we also loved having the various outdoor spaces where we could hang out. The motel is very close to several beautiful biking trails and the site itself is beautiful, the back looking out onto the woods.

One should take note that it is very dated - probably from the 70's or so. Everything is maintained, but clearly aged and weathered. It was spotless when we arrived and it was easy to stay socially distant from the other guests. There were charming touches all around, with a gazebo up front, sparkling lights at night, each room gets its own charcoal grill (supply your own charcoal), and Adirondack chairs everywhere. One real negative that should be fixed is that the hot water is surprisingly scalding - the temp should be set lower. When we turned on the hot water in the bathroom and kitchen, expecting a normal, tolerable heat, we almost got burned and had to remember each time to start with cold water and gradually warm it up carefully.

Response from Michelle Odato, Owner at Starlite Motel & Suites

Thanks so much for choosing us. It's so great to see guests get out and enjoy the great outdoors of the Catskills. I understand what you mean about the hot water. It has been a delicate balance of making sure all rooms have sufficient hot water and water pressure over the years while maintaining a safe temp. I think we've finally found the right setting that will allow all rooms to have adequate hot water, even in peak times. We've found that guest satisfaction is often on the side of warmer temperatures. Even a slightly lower setting seems to disappoint most guests who desire a warm shower. I will look into signage to guide guests to their perfect and safe temperature setting. Thank you for your suggestion.

My family and friends love the Starlite. We go every year and Michelle the owner is so accommodating. The rooms are clean and beautiful. There are many thoughtful details. A little basket is left on the table with creamers coffee, filters and little snacks. Trail bars, muffins bagels. There is a kitchen with some pots and pans and dishes. We always bring food and pile into a room to eat together.

This year we also stayed 1 night in the Maplewood house with a group of our friends. The house was beautiful. The back porch is awesome and we wished it was warm enough to hang out in it.

The Kitchen was full stocked with appliances dishes etc. The beds were comfortable and there is a Jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom.

We would love to see the back porch made a little more available with maybe storm windows, etc. It would have been a great space for our Superbowl party. Thanks again Michelle and starlite.

Thank you. We look forward to your return every year. You guys are awesome. I'm so glad you had a chance to try out the Maplewood House for your Superbowl Party. And I agree, someday the screened back porch will be a 4 seasons porch. See you guys next year!

This wonderful small motel near the Catskill ski areas (closest to Belleayre & Plattekill) offers the best of two worlds, and I've been staying here periodically over the past few years. In an area devoid of large commercial businesses and hotels, Starlite shines as a "find", with reasonable rates and always very clean maintenance. Management is very attentive to requests, and the breakfast basket each day with various goodies (muffins, cereals, food bars, coffees, teas, etc) almost parallels breakfast nooks in larger, urban motels (minus the hot food, which you can make yourself),
While the kitchen facilities are basic, they're all there (stove, microwave, fridge, toaster, coffee machine, dishes, cookware, silverware, table & chairs, etc), as are the rooms' amenities, including cable tv, netflix, prime, good lighting, adequate seating, extra quilts/pillows, etc. Bathroom facilities are also basic but all there and always working properly. (Nice shower and towels too, and always extra disposables.)
As a responsible owner Michele is always available and a pleasure to deal with, and Starlite's policies are very reasonable, especially considering the motel's relative remoteness to urban areas. She makes the necessary compromises to continue to operate a small business in a remote area, and gets kudos for keeping Starlite running in such an excellent way. I will continue to stay here whenever i visit this area.

This was a very good hotel for the value. The room was small but very comfortable, with very decent amenities for the price. It is very dated, but it is very clean as well. They provide full toiletries: shampoo, conditioner, soap bars and body cream. Good internet, and cable TV. It has a full kitchenette, you can cook if you want to. The plus is that at the back it has a patio with picnic tables for each of the rooms, overlooking the beautiful forest at the back. Close to really good food options, and unbeatable location, easy drive to many hikes in the Catskills!

Exceptional value considering proximity to the ski resort. Well equipped kitchen, and comfortable beds. However, the bed linens were some kind of synthetic material and produced static electricity, which disrupted our sleep despite attempts to add moisture. But the shower was exceptionally good with water pressure that could strip paint, and we have never seen a shower head so large. There are picnic tables and grills for each room also, which can be used in the summer and which I thought was a nice feature.

I stayed at the Starlite with my husband and our pug for a last-minute weekend getaway from NYC. The room was very clean and the kitchenette had all the utensils, pots, pans, etc that we needed to cook a couple of meals. We were in room #8 and was surprised that we were able to book it the morning of our trip. The room came with a back porch and a bbq grill. There is also a few picnic tables and a gazebo on the front lawn. Very close to a nice restaurant called Peekamoose with a nice deck for outdoor seating and a lawn with picnic tables. We had a lovely time. I would stay there again!

We were very impressed with this place. The motel has obvioulsy been around for a long time but the room was quiet, clean, and well appointed. Our kids LOVED the backyard area. There were plenty of games to keep them entertained and the fire pit was a great way to end the day. There was also an adorable screened in outdoor room that our tween loved and would go in there every morning to read or draw before we headed out for the day. The grounds were well maintained.

The small kitchen was a great plus as there are not a lot of places to eat locally. We would have breakfast in the room and pack a lunch then hunt around for a nice restaurant for dinner. We now wish we had packed or bought some things to grill for dinner since each room has its own grill to use.

The only critique would be the shower. The water temperature was not always steady and I did wish there was a different showerhead.

You should also know that there is not reliable cellular service at the location but the wifi was fast and we never had any issues with it. We also used Netflix and had no problems with streaming.

All in all, we would definitely return. The location was great and provided us the quiet family fall getaway that we were hoping for.

I basically needed a place to stay between bouts of not getting any fish, and was very pleasantly surprised by how clean, convenient and easy to access the Starlite was. I would recommend it. bring some food, cook it in the kitchen, get out in the morning to fish without any hassles, or even checkout.

My husband and our 2 kids stayed here with the intent to ski. This was perfect! Clean rooms. We stayed in #6--1 queen and 1 full bed. No continental breakfast due to covid precautions, which were taken seriously. The room was unlocked in preparation for check-in, and keys on the table. Shower had plenty of hot water and a little window to let light in/steam out if desired. Kitchen has dishes, select cookware, an electric stove, good sized fridge, coffee and coffee maker. The back door has access to a small shared porch with a couple chairs, and then you can step off the porch to a back yard where there is firewood and pit provided for guests, at the beautiful base of Rose mountain. Lots of pretty rocks and trees, and a nice view for watching kids play. There's a screened in gazebo set back for people to sit on indoor lawn furniture with lots of pillows and electric candles. This place will definitely be a place to revisit regularly. The drive to Belleayre is about 3 minutes, so we were able to get the kids' ski pants/boots on before leaving, which made getting on the slopes much more efficient.

We've made some upgrades to our wifi routers about a year ago. And since then the signal has been outstanding for all 8 rooms. The Wifi carries the heavy load of all guests devices plus the movie streaming devices in the rooms. It has held up very well. Occasionally after a storm we need to reset it, so don't hesitate to mention any issues you might have.
