When my partner and I were looking for hotels our priority was looking for somewhere clean and the Coastal Inn was immaculate. We had a double room above the bar, the block had two other rooms in it and we hadn't actually realized there were more than three rooms till a few days later. The bedding was of amazing quality so comfort was no issue. The T.V in the room was a smart T.V so we could relax with a film at night using our own streaming service accounts. The bathroom was lovely with a fantastic overhead shower, temperature and pressure were no issue. The rooms were also provided with decent free wifi too.

Breakfast in the morning was brilliant, could never fault it. Unfortunately, they don't serve food at lunch or dinner time however they rhymed off a number of other restaurants that were worth booking. We couldn't get a booking for anywhere on one of our nights there so they saved a table in the bar and provided plates and cutlery for our Chinese. As with the room the bar was kept in immaculate condition.

The town itself is an amazing little place and quite reminded me of towns in Cornwall with all the little narrow streets down by the sea. My only issue was parking, as the hotel is straight onto a residential street and a small one at that the parking is tight but you can usually find a space a couple of minutes walk either side of the hotel. I just tried to be mindful and not block locals windows or doors. I was fortunate and on a few nights managed to squeeze into a space at the door, just mind and fold your mirrors in.

Overall other than my fussy need for parking the hotel was brilliant, a very fair price for the quality of room and staff. There are plenty of local restaurants to eat at with lovely views only a couple of steps from the hotel's front door.

This is an excellent place to stay. Our double room was exceptionally clean, it's a stones throw from the sea in a pretty village with tiny colourful cottages

The streets are very very narrow and there are very
few places to park, but the owner came out, moved his van and gave us his space!

The breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked.
Honestly couldn't have asked for more and will definitely recommend to family and friends.

We were in dire need of a quiet weekend away and The Coastal Inn provided the perfect bolt hole.

The rooms were lovely, provided everything we needed and were warm. The staff couldn’t do enough. Mickey was keen to answer any questions and provide anything we needed. Richard (owner)made a mean breakfast and went out of his way to provide us with tourist info etc. Angus in the bar was superbly attentive and provided the personal touch. Everyone was so friendly.

The location is perfect, set in a quiet street a 5mins walk from the hustle and bustle of Anstruther waterfront and 20mins drive from St Andrews.

The Coastal Inn is a straightforward bar with clean, simple and comfortable rooms. The bar is popular with friendly locals, especially when there is football on the TV. It also doubles up as the breakfast restaurant every morning.

The bar doesn’t serve food in the evening, but it does allow guests to eat takeway food in the bar, providing plates and cutlery. This must be a boon to families and to those on a budget.

The spotlessly clean rooms are equipped with comfortable beds, TV, en-suite shower and toilet. At least a couple of those above the bar overlook John Street, a narrow, pretty route which, along with James Street, connects the harbours at Anstruther and Cellardyke.

We were greeted by Angus, a very friendly gent who showed us to our room and who looks after the bar most evenings. A freshly cooked breakfast is offered along with toast and cereal.

We really enjoyed our stay at Cellardyke, which is very well placed for the restaurants of Anstruther and for walking the Fife Coastal Path. The Coastal Inn delivered exactly what was promised in a no-frills, friendly and comfortable manner.

First time staying here and think we'll be heading back.
We were early on arrival (few hours) and asked when we could check in, after a quick phone call from the bar maid we were informed it would be around 20 mins time. No rush as we were just glad we got parked near by as this could be an issue. After enjoying a few rounds of drinks and making new friends with a locals dog we were shown to our room.
It's not the Ritz but the rooms have everything you need and were absolutely spotless plus it looked like the entrance and rooms have recently been decorated.
Seeing as the weather was scorching we changed and headed out to take in Anstruther. Loads of choices for food and drinks around the area so you'll not be stuck for options.
After our antics we heading back and after waking up fresh due to a comfy bed and a shower that actually put out a good rate of water and didn't leak all over the floor, we heading down for breakfast. Good selection of cereals, fruit, breads and as much tea or coffee or fruit juices as you can drink. We took the full fry up option, made to order so arrives pipping hot and definitely hits the spot.
Overall a friendly local with spotless rooms and excellent breakfast options without the crazy prices you find in other areas of Fife.

Having read the reviews on this pub (it’s really nothing special inside so ‘pub’ fits the bill) our party of 6 decded to pay it a visit as we were staying very close by. It was busy, always a good sign. However, we only got as far as just inside the front door. The very strong smell of smoke and the smokey atmosphere caused us to leave straight away. This was not a hint of smoke from someone having a sly puff at the back door, but clearly a result of several people smoking inside the pub. A little sad, given that they could very easily lose their license. I would have expected them to be a little more appreciative of the fact that they’ve survived lockdown - they ought to tread very carefully.

We booked here for a short break in the East Neuk. The room was excellent, spotlessly clean, comfy bed and lovely en-suite toilet and shower. The staff couldn't have been any more helpful and friendly and the cooked to order, traditional breakfast was absolutely top notch.
All in all and excellent experience and I would definitely book again for any future visit to the area. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Excellent accommodation. Very clean and tidy. Bed very comfortable. We were in a room above the pub, not disturbed by any noise from below.

Debbie, the barmaid, was extremely welcoming and friendly. Even boiling the kettle so my husband could have a rum toddy. Good advice re:places to eat.

Delicious breakfast.

This was my first ever solo trip and I was rather anxious. However, from first meeting the staff, I was put at ease. My room was not at the Inn but a minutes walk down the street. It was in one of the old original buildings and it was perfect. My room had everything I needed, a kettle, tea and coffee, a tv and a modern bathroom. The hairdryer was a wee pink thing that looked pathetic but it was surprisingly powerful. I cannot fault the room - I loved it! Breakfast was cooked to order for me back at the Inn and there was plenty of cereal, fresh fruit juice and toast. The Inn has been renovated and was very comfortable for breakfast.
Thanks for a wonderful wee break!

This is a small hotel comprising of 3 rooms above a pub. The comfortable and clean rooms have been recently decorated and the staff and pub locals are friendly. The breakfast was cooked to order and excellent. It’s a short walk to anstruther and Cellardyke itself is a lovely little place. Tops marks are given based on location service and good honest value. I’m a return visiter to the area and will have no hesitation using this accommodation again.
