Very attentive and helpful lady, and son, owner. Great meals prepared at request, slightly pricey-but high quality and better than most restaurants. Clean and well kept cottages, great in the afternoon, hot in the morning (or vice verca if your south)
Calm and with a nice afternoon breeze and open air feeling,

La Digue is a stunning destination, so I spent most of the time cycling, hiking, swimming and diving and was looking for a clean and quiet place where to sleep, not expecting too much luxury. I found that at Etolie Labrine and Apurver was an excellent host. The provided bycicle was great to move around the island - I stayed there for 8 nights and was able to really enjoy all of the island.

This is by far one of the best places we have ever stayed.

Service 10/10
Were picked up from the Ferry and transfered to the accomadation by the owner's son who was just a gentleman.
Welcome drinks were ready on arrival and they arranged bikes for us for the duration of our stay. The staff were very helpful and they were willing to go above and beyond to meet our needs.

Accomodation 9/10
The accomodation we stayed in was more than suitable. The beds were huge with plenty of room for me to twist and turn without annoying my wife 😅. The room was clean and always kept that way.

Food 10/10
Breakfast - was made with love and always left you satisfied and salivating for the next morning. Variety of choice with an amazing selection of fruits. Imnnot a drinker but there was always wine for those that needed.

Dinner - the best fish I have ever tasted. We were the only ones who had ordered dinner that night and they went out of their way to make a candle lit dinner just outside our accomdation. Little did they know that it was actually our 5 year anniversary. It was thoughtful of them. Made for a perfect night.

After much research, we chose this hotel for my family of four. There are some positives and negatives. This hotel is well located in the middle of the island, and there are no cars. So we were picked up at the jetty. It took a while to find our transport, a golf trolley, as they were not at the dock with a sign like everyone else. We were shown our rooms fairly quickly, which was good but it was around four o'clock and we were eager to get on with touring and seeing the island. When I asked for a map of the island, I was told that I could take a picture. Really, no paper maps? Ok. We had a cabin with two separate rooms. They weren't the most modern and there were a lot of ants. One shower really didn't work, so our kids used the one in our room. But the room was clean. We were asked if we wanted to rent bikes, and we agreed. Well, after riding to Grand Anse up and down the hills and thinking that I was out of shape, I realized that it was that I had a flat tire. And another of the bikes had a seat that swiveled and one had brake issues. Don't rent from who they recommend. Also, it is not a given that there is going to be dinner served. The first night there wasn't any because enough people didn't request it. So we had to bike on dark and eerie roads at night looking for food. Again, no map. On a positive note, the woman owner is so nice and accommodating and helpful. The breakfast is very good and the grounds themself are quite lovely. The dinner we had the second night was fabulous. But here is my real gripe.. Our final morning, we went down to the beautiful beach for one last swim in paradise. When we got back, we were locked out of one of the rooms and all of our belongings were moved into the other room. What? It was shocking. The son said that because it was an hour past check out (10am) they weren't sure if we were returning and moved our things and this was standard policy. Never in all of our travels has this happened. And he charged us a late check out fee for this too! When we mentioned the erratic wifi and the ants, he told us, "Well this is a tropical island, what do you expect?" We arrived to this island with huge smiles, and unfortunately left with frowns.

Family guest house, in a very relaxing place, near Anse Source d'Argent. I spent about 2 weeks this August with my wife and daughter. We have been here some years ago and the family welcoming is still fantastic, they makes you feel like home. Apever, his mother and all the staff are very kind, assisting you on everthing you might need. At their restaurant you are like home, with fresh fruits and vegetables coming directly from their beautiful garden. Very good food, excelently cooked by the Apever's mother. A very pleasant stay, living La Digue in its authentic beauty.

This is a magical place.
The lovely owner Johanne and the staff was really helpful and very friendly.
We‘ve been served fresh juices, fresh fruits and a good breakfast. All of the fruits and veggies are all organic from the own garden. The garden is really lovely.
We wanted to experience the island with bicycles. Already at the pick up the driver organized 2 bikes for us. By the time we done our check in the bikes where ready.
The place is super clean and tidy. Outstanding!
For us this was one of the nicest accommodations on our trip through the Seychelles.
I strongly recommend this place.
We would always come back 😊
I would recommend to book directly through their email as any questions or cancellations are super easy with them.

My family and I stayed at this hotel last summer as part of a three-week trip to the Seychelles. We wanted to spend time on all three main islands.

The rooms are not bad - not much character, but at least they are clean and spacious. The garden is quite nicely laid out, but but the hotel is on a grid pattern, as if the whole thing was pre-fabricated. The food is OK, nothing special.

The real problem is that the owners are absolutely obsessed by trying to get more and more money out of you. It never stops! You need bicycles because it is so far away from anywhere. Other hotels lay them on as part of the service; here you pay. Wifi - come on, guys, you just can't charge for wifi these days! You might as well charge extra for the water from the tap. And fancy making an extra charge if you want a slice of bacon for breakfast. Tghose are just three examples of many.

Maybe they have mortgaged themselves up to the hilt and need every penny. Whatever the reaon, it's a constant irritant, and it spoiled our stay. It is very rare for me to give a bad review, but here it was deserved.

This is a long review which will present everything you want to know about Etoile Labrine and the activities that you can try on La Digue and nearby islands.
We came back to La Digue after 5 months because this is one of our favourite destinations around the world. Very quiet with great trails, white powder beaches, good creole food and fair snorkeling.
We made a reservation at Etoile Labrine for 5 nights and we paid 550 euro including breakfast.

1. Transfer from and to the jetty
Our trip started badly due to a misunderstanding between the son of Etoile Labrine owner, Apever and Jemmy, one of the local taxi drivers and Jemmy did not show up at the jetty to take us. We wait for him for 10 mins, he finally showed up but he explained me that he was not informed by Apever that he had to take us from the jetty. So we decided to walk with your luggage for 30 mins from the jetty to Etoile Labrine.

2. Room and Guesthouse Grounds
The rooms were built 2 years ago, they are in a very good shape and the amenities include A/C, ceiling fan, hair dryer, fridge, comfy bed, shower with good water pressure. The only thing missing is the safe so if you want to store your valuables you have to do it in the reception area where you can find the only safe of the guesthouse. The cleaning in the room is done thouroughly and the small garden is very well kept. There are surveillance cameras that are working 24 hrs per day so we felt safe all the time. In front of your room you will find also a dryer for clothes. Take with you coffee and tea because they are not complimentary in the room. The guesthouse is offering also a plug adaptor if you need it.

3. Breakfast and dinner
Breakfast is simple like all the guesthouses are offering in Seychelles and include omlette or pancake, butter, jam, tropical fruits, tea and coffee. Dinner cost 23 euro per person without drinks and include lot of fish dishes, rice, salads, pork meat with vegetables, desert and lemongrass tea. Drinks prices are affordable for example a Seybrew cost 40 Rs while a coke is 35 Rs.

4. Tv and internet
There is no TV in the room but who needs it in Paradise? For internet we paid 200 Rs for 450 MB traffic which is available for a 7 day period.

5. Activities on the island
Bike is the main mean of transport on the island and you can rent bikes for 100 Rs per day. They will be parked in front of your room. There are several beaches that you can reach by bike: Grand Anse, Anse Source d'Argent, Anse Severe, Anse Patates while others you can discover after short hikes: Petite Anse or Anse Coco. For Anse Marron I advise you to take a guide (Robert Agnes is one of the best) while Nid d'Aigle can be climbed by yourself. There are snorkeling trips to Coco and Felicite islands which you can find on La Passe area. We have been in a one day trip to Cousin and Curieuse from Praslin taking the first ferry to Praslin and coming back with the last ferry. Etoile Labrine is offering also a sunset cruise for 30 euro and it is a good way of discovering La Digue and spending the sunset with your loved one. Another enjoyable small trip is in The Veuve Reserve where you can find the Seychelles Paradise Flycatcher tiny birds. Entrance is free here.

6. Supermarkets, ATM and Restaurants
Gregoire's is the main supermarket on the island from where you can buy water, drinks, meat, milk, donuts, wine, beer, fruits or vegetables. There are several other minimarkets from where you can refill your stock of drinks. You can find ATMs in La Passe area (MCB, Nouvobanq) or near Gregoire's (Barclays). There are several restaurants on the island like Lanbousier, Chez Marston, Tarosa, our favourite being Lanbousier for prawns and grilled fish.

Very disappointed stay. The room was horrible (basics missing like a small bottle of water in the room, no natural light coming from outside as the "windows" were obscured), looked very old and dirty (hair of previous guests everywhere on the floor, yellow towels), wi-fi not working properly. The owner was rude, he came late to pick us up at the port on our arrival and he charged anyway the cost for it (transfer from and to the port will be charged).
We needed to withdraw money as credit card machine was not working/accepted and we had not been advised in advance (not acceptable if clearly mentioned on booking.com)
Also bicycles are available only at charge (on an island on which you can move only by them). The guesthouse is not close to the port/the center so you need a bike to move around.
Only the garden was pretty.
We don't understand how it can be rated as 9 on booking and Tripadvisor, not recommended at all.

I stayed here with my husband for 2 nights as part of our stay in the Seychelles. We actually cancelled our reservation at a closer to the beach guesthouse and booked here because the reviews are so much better. I hesitated at first because it's hard to get the scale on a map to see how far this is from the beach, but it was close enough for us. And actually pretty well located if you are wanting to bike over to Grand Anse or that area. It's a <5 min bike to Source d'Argent. You do really need to get to that beach early for a good spot. It will still fill up around you, but if you get a good spot first you'll be able to have a bit more space and privacy still. We did not eat dinner here and regretted it. We thought we could just go for a walk and choose another restaurant but this island is not like that. Almost everyone is eating in at guesthouses and you really need to plan that ahead. The breakfast included here was of high quality although not huge, it was perfect for us. The fresh flowers all over the bed and room were a really nice touch, felt very personal. The shower was spacious and had a good set up for hanging your wet things. No TV here if that matters to you. There was a small mini fridge. Out front there is a bike rack just for your bungalow which was great. When we checked-in we arranged our bike rental then and there and the bikes were dropped off (Maria's) within the hour. Highly recommend this family-run guesthouse.
