We stayed in Kavinga Safari Camp in late August.
We were there for 4 days and I can honestly say they were some of the best days of my life.
The camp itself is perfect, the ‘tents’ were very comfortable, everything you needed and the attention to detail is second to none. Lots of hot water, a great laundry service and very efficient mosquito net! To sit on the veranda of your ‘tent’ (at any time of the day or night) and watch the animals was an utter delight, I barely slept as I was up out of bed at every noise which was fabulous as to see an elephant with her baby drinking from the water hole in semi darkness is something I will never forget!
The main areas of the camp were gorgeous, beautifully styled, lovely gardens, great Wi-Fi and room for some solitude if you wanted, there was always a guide on hand to point out things of interest.
The food at Kavinga was fabulous, as good as any 5*restaurant and dinner was eaten in a glorious setting with a camp fire and beautifully decorated tables. There were premium spirits, beers and a very good choice of wines! The whole staff looked after us so well, they were all so lovely.
But…….the star of the show was Dylan, our guide!
Without shadow of a doubt Dylan made our trip to Kavinga.Nothing was too much trouble, he went the extra mile for us everyday and he was as delighted as we were when we had a sighting!! Dylan found us EVERYTHING, he was also so patient while we sat and gazed at the wildlife for (what seemed like) hours and he manoeuvred us into the best place so we could take fantastic photographs. The truck was very comfortable and Dylan drove it very well, providing blankets on the cold early morning drives. We went on the most fantastic hike which I will never forget, we tracked buffalo (!) we sat with lions, we watched elephants play in the water….he found Poppy for us!!!
Dylan’s knowledge of the animals, birds, trees and plants was fantastic and his ability to spot things was stunning and he was excellent company.
To top all this he made THE BEST gin and tonics which were drunk in beautiful spots he found for sundown.
We are already planning our trip back to Kavinga!

Transfers, flights, and pickup service from airstrip to Kavinga Safari Camp, all seamless, safe and on plan. Off2Africa delivered 100% by making this recommendation to us, for 'wild", walking, waterhole, great accommodation and facilities, all with small number of guests, brilliant food options, and attentive staff to inform, laugh and wow you every moment of every day. Thanks Team Kavinga for every moment. Loved swimming in a cool pool, while watching elephants swimming nearby in their waterhole. True genuine Africa wildlife lived raw...Contact Off2Africa, and book early with this Kavinga Safari Camp. Thanks everyone for an unforgettable amazing time.

From the comfortable, clean, lovely accommodations to the incredible staff, delicious, fresh food and amazing guides, Kavinga Safari Camp is unforgettable. We spent some of our honeymoon here and could not have asked for a better experience. Being able to watch elephants come to the watering hole right in front of the camps was a big highlight. Amazing walking safaris in the morning with Mark and Luke and game drives in the evening were the best. Thank you to Theresa for running the camp so well! We will be back.

5 star safari experience! Amazing guides, delicious food, perfect accommodation - 5 by the watering hole, felt safe and amazingly comfortable bed. 5 star service in the lounge... drinks and snacks in the hide taken care of. So much attention to detail... Long (4-5 hour) game drives but equally as enjoyable to just sit at camp and enjoy the scenery.

The Kavinga Safari camp exceeded all expectations. The amenities were superb, the service was excellent and the setting was simply amazing. Our guide, Liberty, was terrific, I can't compliment him highly enough - He was knowledgeable, friendly and was incredibly patient with all of our questions. I would be remiss if I did not mention the setting. The landscape is beautiful and filled with game. We saw lion, leopard any number of herbivores. We had an amazing experience.

Our stay from start to finish, and everything in between was fantastic.
Our rooms were very comfortable and had the best view of the pan. (Rooms 6 & 7)
The staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. The guides were knowledgeable and had a knack for being in the right place at the right time for all our sightings!
Would definitely recommend a visit to this little eden tucked away in the mana pools area!

We recently spent three nights at Kavinga, the day after the infamous " Kudu Reception Incident", and were delighted to find that the staff had managed to clean up virtually every trace it. The hyena were still present, skulking around in the torch-light as we carefully made our way back to our rooms in the dark, trying also not to bump into Morgan the elephant who spends his time shredding the trees and kicking up the lawn in the camp. It is some comfort sleeping in the raised rooms, placed safely above all the wild life action!

As usual, the accommodation, food, service and game drives were excellent and I must single out young Luke McDonald, our 20-year old guide, whose knowledge of birds was one of the most impressive I have ever encountered. We managed to log 76 species in three days, with some gems such as the African Barred Owlet, Arnott's Chat, Peregrine Falcon, Bohm's Spinetail, Cut-Throat Finch, and Shikra being rare sightings for us. Luke was brilliant with our children, and I think he will go on to become one of this country's top guides, as his knowledge is not restricted to birds alone, but to an array of subjects which he continues to study in depth.

There were many predators around, and we spent quite some time parked in the vehicle just a few metres from a sleeping pride of 8 Lionesses and 4 cubs resting on the dry riverbed. We also disturbed a female Leopard, who crossed in front of our vehicle into the riverine forest, while another vehicle had watched a male Leopard for 20 minutes the day before. Not surprisingly, the plains game was a bit scarce although we did see a big herd of buffalo, a group of female kudu, a lone eland and bushbuck, and the usual scattering of warthog, impala and plenty of elephant by the waterhole.

Thanks to Caitlin and Siraaj for being excellent hosts again and we hope to return before the end of the year, if there is space, before the rains close the camp for your annual, well-deserved break.

We had the most amazing time at Kavinga. Siraaj, Caitlin and the rest of the team went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable, exciting and just idyllic as possible. The view over the waterhole is beyond special- we felt so 'in the bush' while sleeping in luxury and eating delicious meals. Particular highlights were the morning bush walks with Siraaj (we learnt so much from him) and hearing the lion and hyena calling at night- amazing!

My brother wanted to celebrate his 70 th birthday in the country of his birth so he and his family from Australia USA and Zim set about planning a once in a lifetime holiday. Of course the holiday had to include some Mana Pools wild life. Our party was 17 strong and included some young children. We contacted Leah at Kavinga and she organized the accommodation
, no problem. She also agreed to include a day trip to the floodplain which although costs a bit more, is a must do with different plains game on view. We were also very lucky to see a PANGOLIN, a threatened animal on our drive in to the floodplain. We were also privileged to see Painted dog on the plain. For lunch we sat down on the banks of the Zambezi river and had a sumptuous meal.
In Kavinga it’s self we had daily sightings of lion, buffalo and elephant, as well as hyena. At night the game drives were exhilarating and we saw many different nocturnal animals. Sleeping at night was exciting, with a cacophony of noise from calling lion, hyena and leopard.
Finally I would like to thank most sincerely Siraaj and Caitlyn who ensured that everything was perfect. Carl and Luke, thank you for your expert guiding. Luke a special thanks for your talk-on the stars.

In short, a never to be forgotten experience well worth the visit.

We will be back
