Kavinga Safari Camp is a 14 bedded semi-tented camp situated on a cliff, overlooking the dry Ruckomechi Riverbed, within a private concession on the southern boundary of Mana Pools, Zimbabwe - just 8 km away from the famous Chitake Spring. En suite rooms are on high platforms, overlooking a large pan, which offers a photographic hide at water level for amazing photos & game viewing. If it's adventure you seek - be it tracking lion on foot, exploring the hills, sitting in our hide for that perfect shot of an elephant closeup, game-driving amongst a herd of buffalo or just admiring the view of the escarpment from your private verandah - Kavinga offers you a unique experience in an untamed wilderness.

A delightful camp, wonderfully located above a water pan ! From the moment we touched down on the nearby strip we were superbly looked after by Rebekah, Michaela, Nash and all - enjoying walks, drives, excellent food and a friendly charming atmosphere. The Ellie’s were enchanting - frolicking in the water, fascinating social interactions - all aided by (very very) close engagements in the hide. Chalets most comfortable - sleep inevitably interrupted by Ellie’s through the night - all part of the experience.

We had an amazing 4 days at Kavinga in October. Every minute was a new adventure, the waterhole drew every animal we’d hoped to see: wild painted dogs, baboons, elephants without end, Cape buffalo, impala and many other types of antelope. We watched the wild dogs try to capture an impala and after dark, lions at the water’s edge. On our drives we watched lions mating not 15’ from us as well as all of the other animals up close. The blind was magical, we were at the level of the water and the elephants peered in at us as they walked by. Elephants came next to our balcony in the night and tore through the bushes, eating and trampling them. Lots of noise and the reason we weren’t to go out at night alone! We were accompanied by our wonderful guide Petrus Kok who took us out on our drives and were well looked after by the resident guides and staff at Kavinga as well. Food was very good and drinks ample, nothing like a G&T in that heat! Cabin big, beds comfortable. Watching the animals streaming to the waterhole was, as my friend said, like being in a dream. Already planning to return!

Transfers, flights, and pickup service from airstrip to Kavinga Safari Camp, all seamless, safe and on plan. Off2Africa delivered 100% by making this recommendation to us, for 'wild", walking, waterhole, great accommodation and facilities, all with small number of guests, brilliant food options, and attentive staff to inform, laugh and wow you every moment of every day. Thanks Team Kavinga for every moment. Loved swimming in a cool pool, while watching elephants swimming nearby in their waterhole. True genuine Africa wildlife lived raw...Contact Off2Africa, and book early with this Kavinga Safari Camp. Thanks everyone for an unforgettable amazing time.

We stayed in Kavinga Safari Camp in late August. We were there for 4 days and I can honestly say they were some of the best days of my life. The camp itself is perfect, the ‘tents’ were very comfortable, everything you needed and the attention to detail is second to none. Lots of hot water, a great laundry service and very efficient mosquito net! To sit on the veranda of your ‘tent’ (at any time of the day or night) and watch the animals was an utter delight, I barely slept as I was up out of bed at every noise which was fabulous as to see an elephant with her baby drinking from the water hole in semi darkness is something I will never forget! The main areas of the camp were gorgeous, beautifully styled, lovely gardens, great Wi-Fi and room for some solitude if you wanted, there was always a guide on hand to point out things of interest. The food at Kavinga was fabulous, as good as any 5*restaurant and dinner was eaten in a glorious setting with a camp fire and beautifully decorated tables. There were premium spirits, beers and a very good choice of wines! The whole staff looked after us so well, they were all so lovely. But…….the star of the show was Dylan, our guide! Without shadow of a doubt Dylan made our trip to Kavinga.Nothing was too much trouble, he went the extra mile for us everyday and he was as delighted as we were when we had a sighting!! Dylan found us EVERYTHING, he was also so patient while we sat and gazed at the wildlife for (what seemed like) hours and he manoeuvred us into the best place so we could take fantastic photographs. The truck was very comfortable and Dylan drove it very well, providing blankets on the cold early morning drives. We went on the most fantastic hike which I will never forget, we tracked buffalo (!) we sat with lions, we watched elephants play in the water….he found Poppy for us!!! Dylan’s knowledge of the animals, birds, trees and plants was fantastic and his ability to spot things was stunning and he was excellent company. To top all this he made THE BEST gin and tonics which were drunk in beautiful spots he found for sundown. We are already planning our trip back to Kavinga!

The Kavinga Safari camp exceeded all expectations. The amenities were superb, the service was excellent and the setting was simply amazing. Our guide, Liberty, was terrific, I can't compliment him highly enough - He was knowledgeable, friendly and was incredibly patient with all of our questions. I would be remiss if I did not mention the setting. The landscape is beautiful and filled with game. We saw lion, leopard any number of herbivores. We had an amazing experience.

5 star safari experience! Amazing guides, delicious food, perfect accommodation - 5 by the watering hole, felt safe and amazingly comfortable bed. 5 star service in the lounge... drinks and snacks in the hide taken care of. So much attention to detail... Long (4-5 hour) game drives but equally as enjoyable to just sit at camp and enjoy the scenery.

From the comfortable, clean, lovely accommodations to the incredible staff, delicious, fresh food and amazing guides, Kavinga Safari Camp is unforgettable. We spent some of our honeymoon here and could not have asked for a better experience. Being able to watch elephants come to the watering hole right in front of the camps was a big highlight. Amazing walking safaris in the morning with Mark and Luke and game drives in the evening were the best. Thank you to Theresa for running the camp so well! We will be back.

Our stay from start to finish, and everything in between was fantastic. Our rooms were very comfortable and had the best view of the pan. (Rooms 6 & 7) The staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. The guides were knowledgeable and had a knack for being in the right place at the right time for all our sightings! Would definitely recommend a visit to this little eden tucked away in the mana pools area!
