Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed for 1 night before a flight the next day. The hotel was very clean and the room spacious. The bed was comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. We did not use the facilities available as we only stayed one night, but you had the choice to add breakfast as a reasonable price and available for takeaway. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Wrote to the Manger with our experience and as yet received no reply. Receptionist was not welcoming. Room we were allocated far to small for a six day stay. Majority of staff were very helpful. Felt rushed on our last day . Our cooked breakfast arrived before we had finished our cereal.

Stayed at the Stanwell which was a delight. Was concerned that the noise from the airport would be too much but actually hardly heard it! Rooms a decent size and very comfortable bed. Extra pillows in the wardrobe which we did not find until the second night!! Dinner on the first night was exemplary, and Dylan, the young waiter, was very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast too was delicious. the only downside was the lack of staff - only one waiter to serve, replenish and relay was not really enough so constantly waiting for bread, pastries, croissants, milk etc. to be be replenished. Cooked breakfast was good, however, poached eggs were hard on the Eggs Benedict and plastic ham instead of gammon or bacon. Excellent coffee though. Overall an excellent experience. Reception staff very helpful too.

I liked the Stanwell. It was close to London, had a small gym, the staff were really good, the food was really nice and the price was extremely good. I stayed multiple times over the last couple of years so much so that I became a corporate member due to me working in London so often. There was one minor blip when I had to check in pretty late in the evening and was left standing outside in the cold for 30mins because the guy on reception had stepped away and the phone that should have rung to alert him of my precense chose that moment to not work so he had no idea I was there. But hey these things happen. But then today occurred. Stanwell has just been taken over by Mercure. I had two bookings with them coming up in about 2 weeks time. This morning I received an email saying both my bookings had been cancelled and sorry I couldn’t make it this time but hope they can be of service next time. I didn’t cancel the booking. On calling the front desk I was informed that the hotel had entered into a contract and had to cancel all bookings in the hotel starting on the 5th May onwards. The reception apologised but said there was nothing she could do and that all guests were advised to find alternative arrangements. So find 7 days worth of accommodation with 2 weeks notice for the same price near London. Good luck with that….. Suffice to say I now have had to spend nearly £100 more then I was paying. I respect that things happen in business but flicking out regular paying customers including their corporate clients at a moments notice with no warning is highly unprofessional. I need to be able to trust that when I book somewhere it is going to be there and I’m afraid the Stanwell just blew that out of the water. Suffice to say they will not be required to provide their services in the future…..

Staff were really good and couldn’t do enough for you. Breakfast wasn’t too bad, not great gluten free options and breakfast could be improved by having some melon or water melon. Good car parking availability. Rooms comfy but extra pillows would have been good.

Very comfy bed and beautiful hotel exterior. Parts of the interior feel a bit outdated, like the ripped blinds in the room. Not sure why they would be left like that? The breakfast was quite nice. The main problem for us was that we stayed here due to an evening flight arrival at Heathrow and to find both the bar and restaurant were closing by 930, wasn’t much use to us. It meant we had to go out and find some food first. It would be more helpful for there to be some form of bar food until a bit later. A nice hotel but perhaps not for people with unsociable plane times.

This was a first visit to this property and was chosen because of the acceptance of dogs. The hotel has recently been inducted into the Accor group and as 2 x platinum members we booked with confidence. The purpose of the trip was a business/leisure trip and our company currently places a huge amount of business through the Accor Group. So… the actual hotel is nice and despite the need for a little more attention to cleaning was for the most part smart and decorated well. The receptionist was an absolute delight and was extremely friendly and accommodating to us. She ensured we received our welcome drink and then went on to organise a dinner reservation at 19:30. This particular evening the hotel we’re hosting a ‘tribute’ night and staff were busy organising this. Something that seemed to be a good and regular thing. The young gentleman behind the bar was also accommodating and pleasant. However, the staff seemed to not fully understand their own wine menu and seemed to be more interested in chatting and joking amongst themselves rather than having a customer centric focus. None the less the service they offered was functional and OK. Then I had the absolute displeasure of meeting the “Food and beverage Supervisor”.. I was informed her name is Laura. This person not only looked miserable and unkept but she also spoke to people like dirt. I politely enquired as to where our table would be for dinner she immediately shot me down with a rude comment. The conversation DID NOT go any further, I decided to walk away and not get into any sort of dialogue with this awful person. She then realised that her comments had not gone down well and tried to make ‘small talk’ whilst collecting glasses … to which I was not interested in conversing any longer. She made smart and awful remarks about the staff stating that “normally she gets those lot to collect glasses”… I was absolutely astonished that she was referring to her colleagues in that way!!!!! If she holds a position of leadership and management she has to be the worst example I have ever ever seen. The experience with Laura was SO AWFUL that I decided to write this review… which I never really do unless it’s shockingly bad, and believe me, this situation left me reeling. We had pizza in our room and left the next day. Upon the leaving the same receptionist was a delight and a credit to the hotel. If the manager would like to discuss this situation with me I would welcome a call from them… my reservation date was 01/04/2022 and the receptionist will certainly remember me.

The hotel has recently taken on the Mecure Brand but was still getting to grips with these implications. As such don’t expect the usual service just yet. As a Platimum member I was not able use the pre-check in service, this meant that my room requests were not taken into account. That said the receptionist was very good and super friendly she moved things about and got us the perfect room with a door opening onto the grounds which was ideal for our small dog. There was no free drink vouchers but the receptionist made sure that the bar staff were aware so we still enjoyed our welcome drink. The room was lovely and I recommend this hotel for anyone with dogs from a room point of view as there are many rooms which open direct to the gardens so this was a big tick in the box. Now the worst part of the stay was the F&B supervisor called Laura. She was absolutely terrible and the worst hotel staff member I’ve come across in a long time. Very rude, unhelpful and nonchalant! We asked where we could sit to eat with our dog. She said normally in the conservatory but there is a function on so nowhere! We said could we sit in the unset up side of the restaurant - she looked through us like glass and said what bringing a dog into a restaurant oh no! Her tone lacked all empathy and no advice on local eatery’s, empathy or solutions shown. We thought about asking if we could reposition a table next to the toilet door but didn’t dare ask! We ordered in, however would have had 3 courses so they lost business. Breakfast was great and the guy on duty was so lovely and by contrast very accommodating to the dog and brought our breakfast in the room and a treat for the dog. I couldn’t express check out as I couldn’t wait any longer and there was a big queue. I dropped my key and the receptionist called me later which was a nice call. I told her to bill me card for our wine and she said she would email me my bill. To date I’ve had no bill emailed, not been charged for the wine and have no points credited. Hopefully as the lovely staff come through training these glitches will be overcome. The F&B supervisor absolutely needs to go.

The Stanwell hotel?? We stayed for 1 night before a flight from Heathrow, we paid £40 with groupon and figured for that money we can’t go wrong….and we was right. I can’t in all honesty give an amazing review as it was 1 night, we arrived around 7pm and left at 5am so…. We did have food, starters are a bit steep for what you get but generally the food was decent, menu is nice with not too much or too little to choose…..I liked the whole food experience there. Our room was a good size, shower was good but a tight fit. Now anyone that reads my reviews know….I like a good bed!! A good bed is compulsory in any hotel…..this one fell pretty darn short to be honest, it was tolerable for one night but one night was enough!!! If your simply looking for a cheeky layover before flying this is fair for that kinda money….the groupon price is the price I’d like to pay! We didn’t stay for breakfast so can’t comment. Would I stay here again? Hmmm I mean for one night? Yes, for any longer no. I’d pay an extra £30-40 for a decent bed personally. For those on a budget this is perfect.
