This is the third time at Smiths. They are friendly, and the rooms are always neAt and clean. The views of the river are awesome. They have great knowledge of the area, very helpful and you can't do better for the price.

Was in Hancock for a 2 day fishingvtrip. The guide, Joe D from Cross Currents Guide Service, recommended lical hotels, among those was Smith's Colonial. Nice family owned place. Clean room and bathroom. Beautiful view, like a piatcard.. Staff very friendly. Will go back and hopefully soon.

I stayed there so I could visit my grandson at French Woods Sports and Arts Center. It was pleasant, clean, the beds very comfortable, and the owners very friendly! I am hoping to stay there again next summer.

We were in Hancock for a wedding at Handsome Hollow nearby, only one night. This is not your big chain type of property - it's a family-run motel, old-school metal keys, the whole bit. While it doesn't have all the amenities of a corporate cookie-cutter property, Smith's Colonial is friendly and welcoming. Its simplicity makes you feel at ease. The... More

I spent one night in the motel and was pleasantly surprised by how great it was. It is obviously an older property but the rooms were recently redone and everything was spotless. I would recommend it to any fishing party or family vacation.

Smith's Colonial Motel is a very nice, clean, and charming motel that is fairly easy to find, and has a very nice view... especially in the back of the motel! It is also very reasonably priced, has all of the basics that you would expect at a motel, and the people working there are friendly amd helpful. Of course, since... More

We needed a motel in the area and this is a classic motel. The owners are lovely, the rooms had two beds and were clean, and the view is stunning! We actually put out beach chairs on the back lawn to watch the Meteor shower while we were there. Would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I and our dog stayed here while looking at properties in the Hancock area. The room was uber cute and very comfy. Very clean and the folks that run this place are so nice. We loved this motel. The staff are very courteous and the our room was the cleanest we have ever had. I have no idea what the poor reviewer was talking about. The lighting was extremely bright. The mini fridge is definitely a plus. Our room had a flat screen tv and there was also a microwave in the room. Never... More

“All rooms have river views”
of 5 bubbles hoovmeister, 18 Jun 2016 | Read review
“Room 11, in the front, had a great view out its rear windows, and the proprietor said that it was her favorite. The ground is lower in the back of the building, so all of the rooms that are at street level in the front are one flight up in the back, which means that they have no direct access to the grounds at the rear. There are also a couple of lower-level rooms, reached from the back. Being lower down, they have somewhat inferior views of the river, but they have direct access to the grounds. (They're also probably quieter, but the road has virtually no traffic on it.) My room was tiny and spare, and I assume that they all are. Not even an easy chair.”
