My wife and I have visited Africa for 24 of the last 27 years, and this was our fifth visit to South Luangwa. Of all the camps we have stayed in, Mchenja was our favourite! To wake up to bird song on the banks of the Luangwa river is a memory which remains with you for ever. Our chalet was...

A marvellous camp , we stay 3 nights after 2 nights at Kakuli . It is in a beautiful location in a wooded grove over looking a river. The Game drives were great & we had to only share the Land Rover with 2 other people which was great . The guide John was great & we got to see...

We spent the last two nights of our week in the South Luangwa at Mchenja. This is another lovely Norman Carr Camp, and definitely the one camp of our three, that had the most amenities. It had a pool, and a lovely bathtub!!! The room was spacious and had screens to keep out the insects. It also had the most...

Dear Sharon, thanks for your detailed review and I'm really pleased to hear you had a great time with us at all our camps and fabulous wildlife sightings and on the whole great guides. I was very concerned to read your comments about your guide and vehicle at Mchenja. It is a firm policy of the company to have no...

Perfect safari experience at an amazing facility. I can never forget taking a shower in the uncovered bath facility under a full moon, looking out over the river, listening to the sounds of the hippos. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating; Henrietta our hostess, who went out of her way to make our stay wonderful as well...

Mchenja Bushcamp, South Luangwa National Park 17th-19th August 2016. The last of the Norman Carr bushcamps we were to visit and what an amazing place. Our room was best described as a bush mansion rather than a bushcamp as it was so large and spacious. The extravagance of a roll-top bath quite took our breath away. Again as in the...

Dear Skew789, LOVE your description of Mchenja as a Bushmansion and to say this was the best holiday you've ever had is amazing - so thank you. We would love to see you back in the NCS 'family' to walk between some of the camps - as Norman said, it's the only way to really get to know a country.

Spending time at two other camps, Mchenja was our last and didn't disappoint! Located along the river teaming with all types of birds, hippos, crocs and elephants, you don't need to leave the terrace of your lodge to see a show. Add to this brilliant game drives, newly refurbished rooms (cabins?) and deliciously varied food you can't go wrong. Much...

Dear Globalbanker, we appreciate your review and it's great to see you liked the mix of authentic, natural camp, with all the creature comforts one could want! Promoting from within is a cornerstone of our company and we're proud that many of the team have been with us for years, if not decades. Thanks again.

Last of the Norman Carr camps I stayed at. Took advantage of the bath which although rather indulgent was very nice. John was an excellent guide and we had very good sightings of leopard and lions. Beautiful sunset and sunrise right outside the room. Hi to Amy who has impeccable taste in music!

A little context before I describe our experiences. We are a couple of 53 and 59 who like our luxuries but are equally keen to get value for money. This trip involved 3 days in Livingstone (the 53 is the great great great granddaughter of Dr. David Livingstone) staying at Tongabezi, 3 days in the South Luangwa National Park staying...
