This was the first stop of 4 in Zambia. We immediately felt at home and really enjoyed our stay. The food was excellent as was the bar! The staff were perfect both in the camp and on the river trips. The Zambezi was a lovely venue and the river trips were fantastic - even the canoe bit where my wife was very apprehensive but very quickly picked up her paddle and got stuck in. We saw crocodiles and hippos out of the water and many beautiful birds. In the Lower Zambezi Park we had some wonderful sightings - the highlight of which was a leopard retreating up a tree while 30 baboons sat on the ground making sure the leopard was out of the way for a sleep so they could settle down themselves. There was a lot of noise especially when 2 elephants joined in. We have done safaris before and this was right up there. Would go again.

During our holiday in Zambia we’ve stayed for four nights in the lodge The location of the lodge is directly at the Zambezi river with a beautiful view down to the river. It’s a quiet and safe place. Even the lodge is an older one, everything was very clean and comfortable. The food was delicious. All of the employees and guides were very nice. Our trips on the river and to the national park were fantastic. Thanks a lot to the staff for an unforgettable stay.

The accommodation was incredible! Best View in the house (chalets 5 and 6) we were two couples and everything it was incredible. All the activities provided by the lodge were incredible and we had some incredible time over here! All stuff is amazing providing all the help they can for you to feel comfortable. Visiting the village near by offers you a great experience of the raw African life. Do not let the river unexplored - it will amaze you every second!

What an amazing trip to Lower Zambezi! Staying at Kiambi was the perfect place. The team are so friendly from Timothy at the restaurant to Stuart on the boat for our fishing trip. We stayed in the tented chalets over looking the river which had great views and everything was clean and tidy, great value for money. We can’t wait to go back ☺️🙏🏼

Kiambi Safari lodge was by far the best safari lodge we have stayed at to present (over a dozen at this point). Given they deserve more than five stars, here is an incredibly detailed review that attempts to do justice for the quality they provide: Check-In - 5* process, seamless with a full explanation of activities and warnings about the resident hippo that comes almost nightly to graze Road to the lodge via T2 from Lusaka via Chirundi - fine, typical dirt road that can be done with a 2WD low-clearance sedan in dry season. Not sure on rainy season but it seems manageable. They do offer luxury bus transfers from Lusaka for what it's worth. Food/Drinks: Water - tap water is totally fine to brush, wash produce and even drink. We did all but drink it. There is a giant jug of water you can get bottled water from as needed (one of those 20L dispensers). They also sell bottled water in 750mL bottles at a reasonable price. If you are driving yourself you can buy cases in Chirundu along the dirt road. Food - as for this part, the chef was absolutely phenomenal. She cooked a wide variety of options and the quality si top notch. Ask for Visasi with nshima, the traditional dish of Zambia to have a truly authentic experience. Room: The only type of outlets they have are G so take note for adaptors. They do have a communal universal power strip by the bar though so you can always charge additional things there while lounging, eating, etc... The luxury chalet is in a quiet corner with a separate fire pit if you so choose (the main one is by the better and has better ambiance, we felt). AC and heater in the room, remote controlled. Lodge in general: Great bar selection with reasonable prices. All staff are super friendly, pool is great for kids and families, Wifi is good but disconnect yourself for 24 hours and feel the difference. The stars int he night sky are remarkable given there is no light pollution in this area! Something they need - hammocks by the chalets! Resident hippo comes at night to feed - no concerns just maintain a proper distance given how dangerous they are. Activities 2 hour cruise - perfect for watching the sunset Canoe/Fishing - didn't do this in the end but fishing is catch and release All day game cruise with lunch - this lasts six hours and runs from 09:00 - 15:00. Ensure you leave on time as the picnic spot we had is where TWO herds of elephants, with multiple babies in each herd, came to drink water. There is an inlet and they were on the other side of the inlet. It was a remarkable thing to experience and forever remember. Lower Zambezi National Park - couldn't do the full day game drive in the end because the vehicle was out of service awaiting parts from South Africa. It's a truly long day and probably worth it but the all day game cruise was a blessing in disguise. Afternoon game cruise - we did this specifically to watch pods of hippos lounge about in the sun and afternoon heat. Ended up seeing a hippo stampede after something scared the alpha male who ordered them all to scramble into the water.

We visited the area for a friend's wedding which was happening at Kanyemba Lodge just down river. We decided to make a bit of a holiday of it and stayed 6 nights in total at Kiambi and we had a wonderful time! The safari tents were perfectly comfortable with all you could need, including a fridge which is vital in the Zambezi heat! The en suite bathroom had a well pressured shower with plenty of hot water. The real highlight of our stay here was the team. From the ever cheerful manager Janine, and the barman Evans who never let us go thirsty, to the chefs and wait staff. We spent most days out fishing on a friend's boat and every day kiambi presented us with a food cooler box that was the envy of our group of 15 who were staying at various camps in the area. This cooler box for 2 people contained 4-5 toasted bacon egg and cheese sandwiches, a flask of juice, a flask of hot water, coffee, tea bags, milk, sugar, teacups, teaspoons. For lunch: roast chicken pieces or meatballs (about 15 pieces of each!), pasta salad, potato salad, bean salad, bread rolls, butter, plates, cutlery, salt, pepper, chilli sauce, tomato sauce, napkins, tablecloth, toothpicks.... Everything you could think of or possibly need, it was there, packed efficiently and with a smile, we once only told them at 9:30pm that we needed this for the next day and by 5:30am it was done. The food in general at camp was simple but tasty and plentiful. It was a lovely relaxed atmosphere at Kiambi with stunning views and a refreshing swimming pool. They even set up the rugby for my husband and soon what felt like the whole of the river were pitching up on boats to join the festivities! They also had plenty of snazzy and comfortable boats for fishing, sunset cruises and transfers. A great time and a great experience, thanks Kiambi team x

We had a great time as a group of friends. We booked a cottage but I preferred the ultimate experience of sleeping in a tent. Kiambi obliged. The self catering, air conditioned cottage was well stocked with utensils and toiletries. The bar on the banks of the Zambezi gave a breathtaking view throughout the day but especially at sunset. The staff were always at hand in case we needed anything.
