Our family took the entire property for our son's wedding. To say that we were uncomfortable is an understatement. First, the owner made you sign a waiver for responsibility for ANY damage to the place, including normal wear-and-tear. You had to pledge to not put anything on the furniture, to wash all the dishes, to leave your garbage in a certain place, etc. It was onerous, to say the least. Second, there are no walkways to the different cottages, and no lighting of the property at night, so when we got there, my elderly parents had to walk through muddy beds and over a wet lawn in the pitch black. It was VERY dangerous for them and they were very upset and felt trapped in their room as they knew they couldn't get out without our help. There was so litlle water pressure in the showers that none of us could wash our hair the entire weekend, as it was impossible to get the shampoo out. Instead, we used the showers at the church where the wedding was held! There was limited hot water as well, no hangers in the closets, no mirrors that could be used to do make-up, etc. The stairs up to the bedroom were so steep that we had to help the children up and down. We were told there was an enclosed sleeping porch, but never told that it had no heat and no insulation, so it was about 45 degrees at night and too cold to be used. My parents' suite was well appointed but smelled musty and dank, and they sneezed like crazy while inside. The cottage we were in had no heat upstairs. When we asked about it we were told that "if people are downstairs it will heat up in a while." The owner did not help at all with the luggage, even my very elderly parents who were clearly struggling just to walk on the wet lawn, let alone carry a suitcase, as of course, none could be rolled on the soggy, muddy grass. On top of this, it took them a full 10 days to return our (very large) security deposit. We had hoped for a charming place where our family could be together on this happy occasion but frankly, we would have been much more comfortable in a Holiday Inn on the highway. And on top of all this, it is VERY expensive! So if you want heat, water, clean air, hangers, mirrors, nightime lighting and walkways that kids or the grandparents can navigate, don't come here!

This is not a bed and breakfast, there is no breakfast, it is a cottage rental property. We stayed in Plass, which gives new meaning to the word quaint. Squeaky floorboards, a screen door that banged in the wind, a double bed on the porch where one of us could sleep, steep stairs to the spacious upstairs bedroom. We loved it. It was modern in all of the facilities and very comfortable. There is lots to do nearby, we spent a day hiking. If antiques is your thing you will love nearby Hudson. Two small concerns. One is that the wifi is spotty, most of the time it offers a strong signal but it can fade for some reason. The other is that this place really is only for "able bodied" folks. One of the other cottages on sight might be better, I don't know. We would stay there again.
