I recently had the pleasure to stay at the Dartbrook Lodge in Keene, NY. What a wonderful spot - for many reasons. First, it is situated in the middle of Keene, which is a lovely New England village nestled in a valley among the high peaks of the Adirondack mountains. The village has several great shops which have the greatest gifts for all those you have left at home as well as furniture for your own lodge back home. The Dartbrook Lodge is a series of small and medium sized cabins that perch between the village and the Dart Brook. Each cabin has from one to three suites, each one more wonderful than the next. There are one, two and three bedroom suites. They all have the distinct Adirondack vernacular which includes twig furniture and architectural details, Persian or…

Went up on Friday night and received a very warm welcome. After checking in we were escorted to our room, and given a tour. Everything was perfect! It was so clean, neat and beautiful. Outside the temps were 4° with wind chills -17°. The room was toasty warm and perfect. I certainly recommend staying here, great value especially when you consider the rates in Lake Placid.

I recently surprised my husband with a trip to the Dartbrook Lodge for his 40th birthday. I had read the reviews online and they were all excellent. I have to say the Lodge lived up to the hype! We spent 2 nights in Halycon House and we loved it. In my opinion it seemed like the best location on the property. It was immaculate and so comfortable, we enjoyed sitting by the fire drinking the complimentary champagne given to us in honor of his birthday. We also drove into Lake Placid and hiked Cascade Peak (there are many peaks to hike within a short distance from the lodge). We enjoyed two great breakfasts at the ADK restaurant on property (they inky take credit or debit cards, no cash) and also enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Ausable Inn just up the road. We will definitely be…

Dartbrook Lodge cabins are very comfortable and stylishly decorated. My husband and I booked one of the smaller cabins (Bell's House) but there was still a ton of room to spread out. The bathroom was spacious and had lots of counter space. It's incredible well located for hiking and is in a small cluster of useful shops. You're a 5-minute walk from a great diner, fancy corner stores, bakery and fashionable gift shops. The cabin was very clean and pretty quiet. We didn't hear the road but could hear our neighbours when on their porch, which wasn't too disruptive. The beds are sleep number, which is a nice bonus feature. They have DVD players but only carry the classics, so if that's not your thing, bring your own DVDs. Our cabin didn't come with a kitchen but we got by pretty…

Dartbrook Lodge was a real find! Can't wait to go back! Nestled off Rt 73 in Keene N.Y. it offers a wonderful relaxing setting to unwind. All the cottages are beautifully decorated in a true Adirondack style.

Perfectly situated in the valley, Dartbrook superficially resembles, and once was, an old-school cottage motel for motoring tourists, but has been rebuilt and revamped to a fare-thee-well by proprietors of exquisite taste and sensibility. As the New York Times said a few years ago, the entire character of the place is "pitch perfect" Adirondack. The locally hand-made furnishings, and overall feel, are indistinguishable from the restored camp cottage at the Blue Mountain Lake Adirondack Museum - - but better, as our ancestors didn't enjoy a high-tech all-granite shower with a seat. The large plot affords considerable privacy while food & drink amenities are next door. Excellent choice for this locale short of a stand-alone cabin

I almost hesitate to write about Dartbrook Lodge because in some respects I'd like to keep it a relative secret. Dartbrook is a beautiful small Lodge in Keene New York, which is in the middle of it all in the high peaks. Close to Lake Placid to the North, close to Keene Valley to the South, close to the ADK Lodge and most of the great hikes to high peaks. Even more, the small number of suites - and a few stand alone cabins and homes - are spectacular. The decor gets all the rustic details right without sacrificing luxury, the scents in the rooms are deep wood pine, and the sound out of the window is or the nearby running brook. And a short walk to the street is to ADK Cafe - which is good at most meals, but particularly good at breakfast. Dartbrook is one of those special,…

I booked the reservation after reading through all the great reviews on TripAdvisor and was not disappointed. I came up with my husband, sister and mother as part of an Adirondacks road trip and we stayed at the Owl's Head Cottage for two nights. The cottage was perfect with two bedrooms, two full baths, another semi-separate room with a sofa bed, living room, full kitchen with dining area and a large outdoor deck. Beth, at the front desk, had been so helpful in helping us book our accommodations and was so pleasant when we met. She took us down the gravel path to our private cottage and showed us around the cottage herself. We were all so impressed with the cottage. It was so tastefully and beautifully decorated with thoughtful provisions for a relaxing stay throughout…

We were so excited when we saw our cottage. We stayed at the Woodruff Cottage. It was so clean and cozy. The furniture was great, we loved all the wood details. The bathroom was immaculate and the bars of local soap was a nice addition. The ADK Cafe was literally 2 minutes down the driveway. We felt very comfortable here. The best part was that it was less than 15 minutes from the Adirondack Loj (where we started our hike). We will definitely be returning. Well worth the $$$.

My husband just brought me here for a weekend to celebrate my 30th birthday. The little cabin we stayed in was absolutely perfect, and the staff was above and beyond. Everyone at Dartbrook is not only helpful, but takes obvious pleasure in their jobs and in running an excellent property. They made sure we were well fed with delicious food from their restaurant and market, equipped with walking poles and shoe grips for our hike and gave us lots of guidebooks and dvds to entertain us over the weekend. It is far and away the best run and most perfectly designed Inn in the area. The interior design is pitch perfect - classic Adirondack without getting kitschy. We are already planning our next trip back! Our ONLY complaint was that the land around the cabins is relatively…
