We came back from the Kairaba a few days ago, having previously stayed there on a couple of occasions. Although a little shabby, I was pleased to see that all that makes the hotel special is still in place - beautiful tranquil gardens complete with peacocks and monkeys, clean quiet rooms, excellent friendly staff. Our visit did however coincide with...

Spent three weeks at the Kairaba over Christmas and new year. This must be about our 15th stay here over the last twenty years and we still think it's the best hotel in Gambia. The rooms are ready for a bit of a refurb but didn't spoil our holiday at all. The grounds are beautiful with many different birds to...

Just got back from a week at the Kairaba, including two days as two of the last eight guests left after everyone else was evacuated on Wednesday. The wonderful staff just kept on going, and we felt touched and honoured to be so well looked after during a tense time. I'd have to disagree with some of the comments below...

Enjoyed my brief stay at the kairaba. Deluxe room was very comfortable,if not a little tired! Breakfast was pretty good, although maybe a little more fresh fruit would have been a bonus! Staff throughout out we're excellent! Grounds we're kept to a high standard and the pool and bar areas fantastic! We loved happy hour with a fabulous entertaining Gambian band!...

The staff at this hotel were very welcoming. We moved from a standard room to a deluxe which was bigger and in a better position. Our room was always clean and the staff could not do enough for us. It was my birthday during the trip and the staff made a huge fuss of me. We had gifts delivered to...

Not quite,my reason why ... upon arrival at the hotel and despite 5 emails and a request from Thomas cook for room 710 ( the reason was it was our anniversary and we had that room last year) I was told that the room had been allocated to someone else we asked if anything could be done to free it...

Just spent a week here with my 3 y/o daughter. The staff are polite, the grounds are nice and spacious, the breakfast was ok, the pool was nice but the beach was not nice due to erosion. However the big problem with the hotel is that it is advertised and prices as a 5 start hotel when it really isn't....

Just come back from a 2 week stay as a lone traveler, given room by reception opposite function rooms. Incredibly noisy, as always something going on, even into early hours of morning. Following complaint to reception I was upgraded to a deluxe room situated in garden area. Although the staff dealt with the situation speedily and apologised, I felt that...

Our fourth visit to this lovely hotel. The staff are very attentive and the grounds beautifully tended. The rooms have become a little tired over the years, but everything functions. . The beach has suffered badly from erosion over the past few years, and the attempts to hold back the Atlantic with various concrete barriers have not enhanced the hotel...

Dear Dave, We thank you for your review of The Kairaba. The Kairaba beach has been affected by erosion these last few years, a government project hopes to correct this situation in the near future. We hope to see you soon to appreciate renovations and rehabilitation works that are in the pipeline. See you next year!!!
