This is our 3rd year in a row visiting Lake Placid and staying at Wildwood on the lake. The oversized cottage #18 is perfect for our three night stay. The room is very large and has a nice table and chairs for dining in. We love the fireplace and hot tub in the room which makes for a relaxing evening in after skiing and taking in the sights. The staff has always been super friendly and has introduced us to many things in the area to round out our visit.

The perfect place to relax after a long day of hiking and sightseeing. We had a room facing the lake and it was so peaceful to sit outside and watch the scenery. Walking distance from Main Street with plenty of restaurants and stores as well as the grocery store and pharmacy. Very affordable rates.

Great reasonably priced hotel. Room is clean and spacious. Hot tub was clean and good temperature to soothe the sore muscles after a day of skiing. Staff is friendly. Parking on site. 2 minutes from downtown Lake Placid. Went with friends. Will stay again

We recently stayed 2 nights at the Wildwood. Made reservations in July for mid-Oct, which is apparently a peak time to visit the Adirondacks. Normally we would not stay in a motel, but prices for other accommodations were double the rate of Wildwood. Plus the Tripadvisor rating was 4.5 with many positive reviews so I went with it. Well...my bad...you get what you pay for. It's possible this motel is fun for families in the summer as the location was quite nice in a little bay on Mirror Lake with canoes, a little grassy area, dock and fire pit, but the location was definitely not appropriate for a middle-aged couple in a need of a more clean, modern and well maintained accommodation. Our experience was as follows.... First, I called the motel 2 days in advance of our stay to confirm our request for 6 bed pillows and no one returned my call. I sent an email 1 day before our stay and eventually received a very curt response "you are all set." Second, upon arrival the woman who checked us in was not very friendly. When we asked about the laundry facility she said, "well you have to do the laundry yourself." Obviously! Maybe other guests in the past expected laundry service but we didn't deserve the snap response. On the upside, she had quarters. Third, our "Specialty Lakeview King Room" (#116) smelled like a forest fire. The fireplace and flue clearly had not been cleaned in months, maybe years. We were afraid to give feedback about the odor because the desk lady was so gruff, so we just dealt with it. (Plus my husband thought all the rooms probably had some bad odor. Why move.) I had a sore throat for 2 days. Fourth, the toilet was wobbly and unseated. (We did inform the owner when we left.) And finally fifth, our room had a whirlpool tub, but the black mold in the caulk all around the tub and shower was so dark, we figured it would be unsafe to spend too much time in the bathroom. No hot bath for us. So long story short, do better homework than me, and don't stay in a motel when you are used to staying in a hotel or B&B.…

The best place to stay in Lake Placid. The owners treat you like family. Free kayak and boats. Highly recommend. I'll be a repeat customer. Practically a private beach with the lake fed pool. Even met Australian bobsled team here. DACK shack for great food.

Booked online for a cottage and a week later I get a call from the Wildwoods that they had been on vacation and failed to take the cottage I wanted out of inventory but they had a hotel type room available....they wanted to charge me the same as the cottage even though their website showed that the room was $40 cheaper then the cottage. This was supposed to be my honeymoon trip (we got married during travel restrictions) and now we are left scrambling looking for a place to stay. If this is how they treat their guests prior to getting their money, I can guarantee that once they have it they will treat you even worse

I came up to Lake Placid from Philadelphia for a job interview. I drove up and arrived middle of the night and stayed at the Wildwood. It was my first time in Lake Placid and I am not lying when I say it is the reason I moved to Lake Placid permanently! The room was so comfortable and the view was phenomenal. Waking up to the sunrise on Lake Placid and sitting on my porch with a coffee I thought "this is my place." It was walking distance to Main Street and to the grocery store. The owners are an amazingly wonderful family that has been there for decades. When my family comes up to visit I always put them at the Wildwood and they LOVE it! Not to mention the FREE boat rentals for the lake - save yourself the $50/hr elsewhere...

This is a fantastic hotel! I don't often take the time to leave a review but this place deserves a bit of my time. Clean, (I mean super clean and not covered up with stinky deodorizer), comfortable room, with a great location, relaxing good vibe and friendly staff. I was completely unfamiliar with Lake Placid, so I did what many others do...I searched travel sites for a hotel that looked nice and was priced right. I booked a hotel online that looked great online but when we arrived it was clearly not as advertised, so we canceled. We stumbled upon Wildwood by chance and could not have been more pleasantly surprised. We had a large room with our own balcony, a large back yard on the water with a gazebo, plenty of seating areas, a fire pit, grilling area, they have kayaks, canoes and paddle boats for guests to use, and there is a Walgreens right across the street. I will stay here again and again. Highly recommend.…

When I pulled in to this place. I thought "oh know this is gonna be one of those musty broken down places." Boy was I wrong! We went into our Room it was spotless it smelled very nice the rugs were in great condition and the view was spectacular. I was, very pleased. The Gentleman/owner I don't remember gentleman's name, is a hardworking, happy, funny man. If it wasn't COVID I know i would have made good friends. He worked day-and-night to make things nice, kepted things repaired, have things cleaned. He took care Of the Lake/pond, took care of the garbage, took care of the bonfire. Molly the front desk clerk was cool. Molly with her happy smile at the front desk (behind a mask) Molly gave us access to everything that I needed, including a fork when the take out place didn't put one in my bag. I would definitely come back here in fact I am planning to bring my grandchildren here the kayak accessibility is perfect, lake/pool has the playground right there. The kids can play in the Lake or on the playground without parents even getting out of a lounge chair. It's not an updated 5 star is just a good old American place to stay.…
