From the moment you arrive at the paradise that is fundu lagoon you feel a million miles away from the world in your own little piece of heaven. Staff were incredible...nothing too much trouble. Food was exceptional...as a vegetarian you always worry ... But the variety and

How wonderful to read your fantastic review of your recent holiday at Fundu Lagoon. Thank you so much. I am particularly delighted that you enjoyed our ‘exceptional’ food. As a vegetarian myself, I have always made sure that there are suitable options for non-meat eating guests available on every menu. Your kind comments about our staff will be very much appreciated too. All of us at Fundu Lagoon are so happy that you had such a lovely holiday with us, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Ellis Flyte (Creative Director) c.c. Ramon Ribes (Manager)

We were lucky to stay there during 6 nights. This place is a hidden gem and makes one with the nature. It is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. The staff is great and the meals are delicious (all of them!). There are three different dishes for the dinner every evening and there

The answer to the title of your review is, in my opinion, ‘yes’ – Fundu Lagoon is heaven!! What a wonderful review to read, and I am delighted that you had such a terrific holiday with us. I am so glad that you enjoyed all the menu choices that were on offer to you during your stay, and that you did your best to try everything – that will make our chefs very happy! I was also pleased to learn that you enjoyed the massages you had at our spa – I would certainly agree with you that our therapist has fantastic skills. Apart from your very generous comments about our staff and the resort itself, I am grateful to you for pointing out that we have a no tipping policy at Fundu Lagoon. As you correctly point out, there are many staff who work unseen behind the scenes in the day to day running of the hotel, and it is a far fairer policy to split all the donations kindly left by our guests, between every member of staff. Thank you for your recommendation of Fundu Lagoon to potential future guests, and also for taking the time to write your review – it is genuinely appreciated. Ellis Flyte (Creative Director) c.c. We arrived at Fundu after more than a week of long-haul travel, a wedding and a dusty, bumpy safari. We were ready to relax and unwind and Fundu didn't disappoint. The bar on the wharf is a great place to watch the sunset and the cocktails are reasonably priced and delicious.

I am so pleased that you found Fundu Lagoon to be the perfect answer to help you relax and chill after your long and busy but highly enjoyable week of travelling, attending a wedding and enduring a bumpy safari! Your kind comments about the fresh fish and food on offer to our guests are very much appreciated, and I was delighted to read that you enjoyed your full body aromatherapy massage. As you witnessed, the weather can change rather suddenly, so I’m sorry to hear that you got soaked after your lovely snorkelling trip, but at least the rain is warm! Thank you for your advice to potential future guests with mobility issues who might be thinking of staying with us. Fundu Lagoon is not suitable for people who are unable to walk easily or climb up steps. As you saw for yourself, we are situated on a huge site (42 acres), and the hotel and various areas are spread out and up over a large part of it. Thank you also for your tip about keeping the shower drain cover in place when it’s not in use. Feedback from our clients is most important to us, so thank you for taking the time to write your review – it is very much appreciated Ellis Flyte (Creative Director) c.c. Ramon Ribes (Manager)

Our second visit to Fundu Lagoon was as good as, if not better than, our first in March 2017. This time we were fortunate to stay in a Superior Suite with our own private plunge pool and direct access to the beach. The food was superb, the company was great and the staff, many

We love all of our clients at Fundu Lagoon, but those who revisit us are particularly special, and I’m delighted that feeling is reciprocal! Our staff are always so happy to see returning guests, as it is a great compliment to them and their hard work that you both wanted to come back to the resort. I’m very happy that you enjoyed your stay in a Superior Suite with its private plunge pool and beach location too. You’re absolutely right - ‘the Fundu family is very special’ and we are privileged to have you both as a part of it. Ellis Flyte (Creative Director) c.c. Ramon Ribes (Manager)

Fundu Lagoon is a spread-out, architecturally courageous complex embedded in the jungle hillside behind a fine beach. It’s quite exotic, rustic, and earthy: monkeys and bushbabies steal food off your plate, paintwork is worn, and the water in the wash-basins is often

Thank you for your review of your recent stay with us at Fundu Lagoon. We do make it clear on our website that Fundu Lagoon is designed in a Robinson Crusoe style – it is as far away from elevators, shiny floors, moving walkways, buggies and concrete buildings as you could possibly imagine, and we are very proud to embrace our jungle surroundings and live in the most eco-friendly way as possible alongside the wonderful wild life that we are privileged to share it with. Sometimes when a tap is run in the rooms the water can be discoloured for a few seconds, but it always runs crystal clear after that. This is by no means uncommon in a lot of similarly remotely located hotels and safari lodges in Africa. When you arrived, Ramon noticed that you had some difficulty in walking and consequently moved you to accommodation situated along the beach front, so that this would help you with walking along as level a surface as possible. We also offered you the option of having your meals delivered to your room if you didn’t wish to walk, and I understand that you said that you were happy to dine in the various dining areas of the hotel. As has been mentioned in admirable terms by many of our reviewers throughout our 15 year existence, Fundu Lagoon has a large variety of animal life, some of which you manged to see for yourself. This is often a highlight for most of our guests and not the opposite! Due to the unspoilt nature of the resort we have some very rare birds and crabs, and the millipedes are also very much a part of Fundu. Yes, they are large, black and might look a bit alarming when one first claps sight of them, but as it was explained to you, they are utterly harmless and have no interest in human beings. Often found static on the sandy pathways or on a bit of decking, when they move, is on a par with the speed of a snail, and they are by no means an ‘infestation’ – they simply co-exist along with everything and everybody else at Fundu Lagoon. The monkeys and bush babies also have homes in the trees at Fundu, and whilst we actively discourage guests from feeding them and do our utmost to make sure that they are nowhere near the restaurant areas, every now and then a bush baby will manage to get in and make a quick dash to try and grab a canape or a bread roll before racing out back to the trees. This is not a frequent occurrence and when it does happen, all of our guests are usually most intrigued and ask our staff all about them. I am sorry to hear that you felt that you had to cut short your stay with us. Unfortunately it would appear that we were not the right resort for you, and I hope that you managed to find somewhere else you were better suited to. Thank you again for taking the time to write your review. I will be speaking with Ramon to see if there might be a clearer way of explaining on our website that the resort is not appropriate for guests who have walking difficulties, or who are apprehensive about being surrounded by natural wildlife. Thank you for your question. I would confirm the previous responses to your query - there can be short bursts of rain during November. We recommend that our guests use mosquito repellent, but there are also sand flies which some people can suffer from more than others. We look forward to welcoming you to Fundu Lagoon next year. With all good wishes for Christmas and 2019. Ellis Flyte (Creative Director)

Thank you so much for your enquiry. Currently only 3 of our accommodation suites have air conditioning units, but we provide overhead fans in all the other bungalows. I do hope that we will be able to welcome you both to Fundu Lagoon later in the year, and make your honeymoon the holiday of a lifetime. Ellis Flyte (Creative Director)

Hello, and thank you for your enquiry. During the evenings at Fundu people do tend to dress up a bit more - but we're not talking full length evening gowns and stilettos here! Our guests are more inclined to wear trousers and long sleeves as they would in most resorts as this helps to double up as a barrier against mosquitoes. Although the temperature is still very warm, it can get a little breezy so I'd suggest you pack a light wrap just in case the wind gets up. Ramon and all of our staff will be very much looking forward to welcoming you both for your holiday with us. Ellis Flyte (Creative Director)
