Mongaup Pond: I came to this campground because it claimed to be located on the largest lake in the Catskills. When I called to ask how big that was, I was told something like 90 acres. I am an avid paddler, and Mongaup Pond took me less than 50 minutes to circumnavigate while checking out the scenery. It was really...

First time campers with 3 kids 10,7 and 4 could not believe the amount of fun the kids had. Very relaxing experience for us being from NYC loved the coyotes at night pretty scary at one point sounded like they were by out tent. Local firewood is best options on Debruce there are a few houses where you can buy...

Nice spaced out sites with lots of privacy. We had a site on the pond and launched our kayaks from the site. The pond is pristine. I did not see anyone catch a fish although lots were trying. We stayed in a 31 foot motor home so did not check out the bathhouses. Swimming in the pond in the lifeguard...

I was told about this campsite area from a few friends of mine. I looked it up online and made my reservation with no problem. The lake front sites were all booked so I choose an inner loop spot in C. I was glad my GPS was still operational because there is no cell service for miles around. I recommend...

We love camping at Mongaup Pond. We have gone for 7 years, and will be back again this summer. This year with Labor Day so late, we had to go a week early. Unfortunately that meant the campground was busier than we are used to. The only issue we had was the bathroom in Loop C was not cleaned as...

We had a great time camping here in off season (October 1-3). Pond views are simply beautiful! Almost no one here, which was another plus! Away from everything! We've heard that it's quite busy during the season.

Spent a weekend with the family at site A at mongaup. Most sites are fairly large and adequately spaced. Bathrooms were meticulously kept, and I always saw rangers driving around to maintain. The rangers in the front booth were very helpful and friendly. Main showers are near the pond, and although they attempt to stay on top of cleaning it,...

The lake is very small. While this wasn't so much of a problem, the water wasn't very clean because of stagnancy, and swimming was only allowed in a small restricted area. If your planning to go, reserve a lake side spot way in advance because they book up fast! There are also trails for hiking in the area and some...

We've been coming here for about 6 years now and always have a great time. The staff is nothing but helpful and polite. The restrooms and showers are always clean. The truck from Sherwood Diner comes by almost every afternoon with necessities and treats. I only wish that people staying there would adhere to the one-way driving rule on the...

I noticed there where a lot of negative comments online about the strictness of the quiet hours, and the abrasiveness of the staff. I think now the staff is a little overboard in the other direction of permissiveness now. We were in Loop A and there was so much car-door-slamming, babies crying, flashlights, radio-playing and other assorted noises that I...
