Just spent the weekend arriving Friday at1530 and departing Sunday at 1400. This is my second Ashram in NY I have visited. As far as the negative reviews that I just can NOT understand, please keep in mind this is an Ashram not a spa resort employing professional chefs!!! You can participate in as little or as much as you... More

Ananda Ashram is a serious place for spiritual seekers, but is also a warm and friendly place for the weekender who may be more into a Hatha Yoga getaway from NYC. If you want authentic Advaita Vedanta teachings, yoga classes, Sanskrit, music, dance, meditation, peace with people who really want to grow spiritually, this is the place for you. If... More

I came to the ashram knowing already about the philosophy behind it because as a yoga teacher I am drawn to the writings of Sri Brahmananda Saraswati. I was going through a terribly difficult time and came for a week but I ended staying 3 weeks because the place and the people here are very healing. I left with friends... More

I decided to take a trip on my own to Ananda Ashram for my 30th birthday weekend and so very glad I did! The room: I choose a dorm style room since I was going alone. There were three bunks in the room. When I arrived there were 3 other women there and I got the top bunk. The room... More

This may seem to be your typical spiritual retreat, but there is a lot more. You have breathtaking hiking within walking distance, boating on the lake inside the premises, a swimming pool, camping, and a friendly atmosphere that doesn't smother you if you're not wearing yoga pants.

Was looking for a quiet place to relax and do some yoga. The constant obnoxious music coming from the Kitchen, coupled with being placed in a room right above it, made that impossible. I was woken up before 7am to blaring music (not even "yogic"), and in the evening it's almost impossible to stay focused in a yoga class because... More

We apologize that did not have a good experience here at Ananda. We have addressed that there may have been a time when the music from the kitchen was too loud. Our policy, which was restated to our staff, is to have closed doors if playing any music while working in the kitchen. Appropriate dress and attention to cleanliness are... More

The drive from NYC is beautiful... Once there, the grounds are gorgeous... Green trees and peaceful scenery. The accommodations are exceptionally clean. The shared bathroom was superising clean and well kept. The food was delicious. An all vegetarian menu was fulfilling and good for your soul. I didn't take any photos because once there... My phone was turned off and... More

My first time taking a trip to a Yoga Retreat, was definitely relaxing. From the moment the taxi dropped me off in front of the big white main house building where you register, my tensions from a city life began to melt away. The office staff were beyond hospitable, answering all my questions, guiding me to my room and explaining... More
