Overall, the hotel was amazing. Clean, friendly staff, lots of activities and entertainment. Pools were plentiful, clean and peaceful in places with a more lively pool for the usual pool activities that the hotels run. The rooms were clean, the mini-bar was stocked every other day and each day the rooms had a thorough clean. Easy enough to request extra towels, pillows etc via their app. The food was okay, it's your typical all-inclusive, with plenty of options but I think the hotel would really benefit from themed nights like other hotels to help change it up a bit. We tried all of the ala carte restaurants, as each one is included in the all-inclusive. The Italian is just a repeat of the usual buffet, so don't rush to book it. Booking for the restaurants opens at midnight but they fill up fast so make sure you either stay up or set that alarm to guarantee a visit to each one during your stay. They use local spirits for drinks, like any other all-inclusive across the world, so for those moaning you could just stay somewhere else and pay per drink. Cape Verde is very relaxing and remote, and if that's for you then you'll enjoy it.

Hotel's Favourite
I don’t normally do reviews, but felt like I had to address some of the reviews we read before we went and call out their BS: “There is nothing to do, no nightlife” - it’s the perfect relax holiday, no busy streets, no touristy destinations, just pure sandy beaches and the occasional hotel… perfect for us, if you don’t like that go to the canaries. The motto of the island is “no stress” and everyone (staff in particular) really vibes this. “The alcohol is really watered down” - they literally serve you half a glass of it, so if it is watered down they make it back up by filling your glass right up with it! “The pool isn’t very good” - the pool was very spacious and a separate young kids pool around the corner, which meant plenty of space. It was really clean and yes a few tiles missing but who actually cares? Plus we spent half the day at the pool bar, being served cocktails and spirits whilst half in the pool… what more do people want?! “The staff weren’t very helpful” - this is by far the best resort we have been too for staffing. They are always dancing, always smiling, wanting to know you a little more, they remember your names, drinks, accent… just really lovely people, I wish we had more of that attitude in the UK. At the pool bar they dance like 3 times a day with bottles on their head and all kinds of crazy stuff, they look like they love working with each other and for the company which really radiated off! They were also so good at like 100 different languages which is crazy to me! “The food was a little bland” - it’s an all inclusive resort… it’s not a Michelin star restaurant… but the food was really good, plenty of choice for everyone, beautifully cooked meats and everything was fresh. “It’s very windy” - who isn’t looking at the weather before they book?! It is windy which keeps a nice cool breeze on during the day and reduces the temp in the evening. Never felt like you was sweating and still plenty of sun, so many people were red as the UV is crazy high! Overall this is by far the best resort we have been too for the whole round experience, the staff make it feel relaxing and alive. If I wanted a proper recharge after a few busy months work, I would 100% return… and we’ve never returned to a resort before…! Thank you to everyone at the resort who made our stay really special, keep up that no stress attitude 😎

Really enjoyed our stay. Hotel very clean, beautiful beach, lots of variety of food, weather perfect! Booked not expecting it to be as good as it was due to be relatively cheap in comparison to other destinations, but very impressed. Entertainment team were amazing!!!

Let’s get the negative out in the open first, once you visit you will want to come again and again. The hotel is super clean , the staff are so hard working and the food is good quality with plenty of choice. Yes it’s not 5 star but it’s an incredible 4 star. Only small gripe would be almost impossibly to book the gourmet restaurant but hey life sucks. Don’t think about this hotel just book it

My wife and I have just returned from a vacation in this beautiful hotel and have got to say this has got to be one of the best holidays we’ve had. Room - We stayed in a twin room which was very spacious, en suite , balcony, free mini bar including optics which was topped up every couple of days and was spotlessly clean, as was the whole resort complex. Food - if you couldn’t find something to tempt you I’d be very surprised. In addition to the main restaurant there are three bookable restaurants, Asian, Italian and Gourmet. Hygiene standards were very high and the staff were very friendly. Outside Areas - Five pools to choose from and what we liked was there was none of this stupidity of people getting up at the crack of dawn to save sun beds. There are an abundance of beds around the pools and on the private beach. Swim up bars at two of the bars and two out side eateries. There is another restaurant in the grounds. There are numerous activities organised by the activity team for those that want to participate. In the evening - A full activity programme changed fortnightly with two party nights. Age group in the hotel ranged from all those over 18. A really good mix, in other words and the entertainment reflected that. The hotel staff could not do enough to help you wherever you were, be it at reception, the bar staff, catering, entertainment or room staff. The acid test - would we be going back, you bet we will.

We had such a great time at this warm and welcoming hotel. The staff were so friendly and happy. The room was just as we expected having seen previous reviews. The bed for me was the most comfortable bed I have slept in, in all the hotels we have visited and we’ve visited a few. Staff cleaning all the time, gardeners keeping the grounds looking immaculate. Tge entertainment team worked very hard every night (and I’m sure during the day too) with the different shows put on for our entertainment. We’d like to mention the staff at the pool bars especially Carlos who was very friendly and helpful. All staff served with a smile and made you feel really welcome. Yes this hotel is in the middle of nowhere but people should know thus before they go so shouldn’t be an issue when you get there! All in all we had a great time and would return to this hotel as well as checking out other RIU hotels. Thanks for a great stay 😊

One of the older hotels on the island. Recently been updated. Pools have been compleatly re-done. It's quite spead out so generally lots of walking. Also pleasant walk along the beach. It's very clean - staff work hard. Accessability to pool towels is lovely - plenty sun loungers by pool and its right on the beach. The sea can be rough - there is a flag system. Need to be a reasonable swimmer. All inclusive. Fridge in room, with drinks & kettle. But do bring your own tea & coffee ( can ask for carton milk from the bar). The food is buffet style - it's mediocre. Some days better than others. It could be better quality - however fish is always good. No variety in the fruit choices. All-inclusive alcoholic drinks are poor. Local alcohol. Wine tastes watered down. Beer OK. Staff lovely and attentive - clearly work really hard for visitors to enjoy. Little extras like towel art! There is the odd cat around the hotel - very friendly. Would return, but would go to the Riu Palace next time.

Great hotel really enjoyed our stay Three acts on every evening often involving live musicians with the rest made up of the entertainment team dancing, the dancing was much better than it sounds with professional dancing, often decent themes and costumes. Friday they have alternative party nights. Food was really good the usual fruit, breads, eggs of every type and the typical holiday bacon. Lunches were in a buffet restaurant with two or three fresh fish options, meat dishes, cooked meats, salads, burgers, pastas and pizzas ( which were really good). Two small snack buffets at each end of the pools with fresh bbq chicken wings. Evening meal had all the lunch items plus two options on the carvery table. Fish included salmon steaks, swordfish and tuna steaks. There was always chicken breasts. We went into both Italian and Asian ( mainly Chinese). Plenty of extra choices and nicer atmosphere. Getting in the gourmet one was very very difficult. The spots on the other two came up four days in advance and you could usually book when you woke up. Pools were warm enough to swim, sea a bit warmer but nobody went any further in than 20 yards good fun actually and we could go in 8 out of 9 days. Hotel transfer is literally four minutes. We got a taxi to Sal Rea which is very run down, if you go in I suggest you make for the small pier and work from there. Staff were friendly, reps were professional. Despite wind every day because it was 28 day in day out it was plenty warm enough on a sun bed. In room bar was excellent two of everything inc coke and Fanta
