Lovely hotel, exceptional staff service. Plenty of sunbeds. Food was good but very monotonous. Spacious rooms and bathroom. Large balcony. Overall a great state but preferred the hotel Karamboa next door.

Hotel's Favourite
We've just returned from here (4th August), hotel is amazing. Food was superb, drinks on tap 24 hours and the location was fantastic. Champagne on arrival at reception, checkin was smooth (but we did get a taxi 10Euro rather than TUI transfer) as we were there before the bus. Porters on hand to take your luggage to your room. We had a standard room, we first had 2 large single beds even though we asked for a double they then changed us day after for a massive king size bed, bathroom was shower only, but very spacious and clean. Optics in the room were Vodka, Gin, Bacardi & Whisky all 37.5ABV or above, not your cheap option. Mini-bar consisted of beer, water (still and fizzy), coke, coke zero, sprite, fanta and tonic water. Some apartments have their own pool, but these are not very private as they back on to the paths so everyone can see you in them!! Pools: 3 pools right on the beach - 2 swim-up bars with a another pool in the middle of these. Staff are brilliant in these with variety of cocktails, beer, spirits, soft drinks & coffees. Hotel provides you with a card to exchange for a beach towel which you can change as and when you please Beach; You can fall onto the beach from the beds by the pool it that close, sea is lovely, sometimes waves are strong but they have lifeguards on duty Food Main buffet restaurant (Africa) served breakfast, lunch & dinner. Food was outstanding, you will not starve, plenty of options for everyone. Breakfast: Onlettes made to order, pastries, steaks, variation of eggs, fruit, milkshakes, juices, cereals and usual beans, sausgage, bacon, toasties, cold meat Lunch: two soups plus gaspacho, variation of fresh meat, fish, pasta, pizza, salads, fruit, ice cream Dinner: 2 carvery meat on offer every evening, sirloin steaks, veal steaks, lamb chops, pork chops, fish options (Lobster tails one evening). pasta, pizza, sushi, salads, cheese selection, breeds, vegetarian options etc We also went to the 2 of the 3 restaurants you have to book in to, Didn't go the Steakhouse as looking at the Menu you had all this in the main buffet. Mitzuki Japanese: It was ok, not to my taste, Krystal: Mrs had a lovely starter, Mash, Mushrooms topped with poached egg. We then had the Duck but the sauce was too rich of for both of us. Tip: Book these two for 7pm then if you don't enjoy it pop to main rest as open till 10pm!! There is also a lovely coffee bar in reception which serves various coffees and cakes till midnight Entertainment in the evening was excellent, various shows on every night from 9pm followed by live bands. Kahoot quiz most nights from 2030. Kids entertainment from 1930. Sports bar has plenty of TV's with various live sport on and is open till 8am and had some snacks

This was our 5th visit to this hotel and will be going back asap. Accommodation, food, service, location couldn’t be better. A quiet bar in the evening would be ideal plus making one of the 3 pools adults only

We came here for my 30th birthday therefore splashed out a little on a room with a splash pool. This hotel is absolutely incredible and luxurious. The staff are amazing, helpful, friendly and hospitable. Overall super clean and tidy throughout, the hotel and grounds are well kept. Bugs were not an issue at all. The food was fantastic with wonderful variety including local specialities. We didn't go to the entertainment so can't comment on that but the piano/saxophone bar in the evening was lovely. Branded drinks and slushy cocktails went down well! Splash pool was a lovely addition and well maintained. Room gorgeous with everything you could need including comfy beds and powerful shower. Mini bar was lovely and the app was easy to use to get top ups or request anything you could think of. Cape Verde is a beautiful country, we can't wait to return!! My only fault if I think hard is the walkways could be better lit at night time but other than that, this holiday was amazing start to finish!!

Lovely hotel in a fantastic location if you like chilling. Our room was lovely and clean with optics, plenty of soft drinks and tea and coffee making facilities. The pools are beautiful and our preference was the quieter swim up bar one. There were always plenty of beds and the pool was never crowded. The food we thought was very good. We eat in all three speciality restaurants, and although none disappointed we really liked the Sal Rei. We would definitely return.

Currently staying in room 4412. This is our 2nd visit and the Riu Palace Boa Vista lives up to its 5 star rating. The evening entertainment is better than any other hotel we’ve stayed at. The team look like they’re enjoying doing the shows which makes all the difference and the Kahoot quiz is always fun. Rooms are spacious and clean. There’s a good selection of food and would recommend downloading the Riu app to book some of the speciality restaurants which are free of charge. Note which is nothing against the hotel but to be aware there is a tourist tax to pay on arrival which isn’t covered by package holidays. (This is different to the airport tax) We look forward to seeing all the amazing staff again next year. Obrigado

Having been at this hotel before I knew what to expect - an amazing, relaxing holiday surrounded by the best staff who never stop smiling and looking after you. Why is this hotel so good?: it’s 5 mins from the airport - so you get your holiday started quickly. Check in in advance to speed things up. If you you have a Riu account, you can do this online. Other tip - if you have €10-15, and are happy to pay for a taxi, it will mean you get ahead of the coach transfer and into your room a bit faster. Make sure you download the Riu app - you can reserve restaurants (Slots open up after midnight) and also request things such as housekeeping for your room, without needing to go to reception. The main Africa restaurant is brilliant - the food selection is great - exceptionally well presented, well cooked and very tasty. Ignore any reviews about people getting stomach bugs - it’s most likely through brushing teeth with tap water than the food. Never in all my time going have I got an upset stomach there. The pool bars are great - swim up ones an added bonus. The southern one is quieter, the northern one hosts Aqua fitness events with music so if you want to chill - head elsewhere. Also take beach towel clips for your sun lounger. There’s always a lovely breeze / wind in Cape Verde but your towels can go flying with some gusts. The housekeeping staff are great and keep the rooms looking superb. Overall the hotel has been really well maintained - I’ve been to others which think a paint job can last 5 years, whereas this Riu Palace looks so well maintained. The gardeners keep the grounds looking amazing. The speciality restaurants are great - there are two sittings - 7pm & 9pm - aim for 7pm if you can otherwise you’ll miss out on the evening entertainment which starts at 9pm. Entertainment is great, the entertainment team work so hard, both pre and post show to get out and interact. Live music at 10pm is varied and great. One thing, depending on what time you sit in the open air section of the entertainment area - check the cushions haven’t got damp through condensation otherwise you’ll have a wet rear end! Just flip the cushion over. The waiting staff have you constantly served your drinks. The staff throughout the hotel are just amazing, always happy and smiling. Don’t believe reviews which say staff are not pleasant. That simply cannot be the case. They are so kind and always helpful. Couple of things for management to consider: Perhaps have light background music playing in the speciality restaurants - they are very quiet and you can hear everyone’s conversations - it kind of makes the restaurants feel sterile and you sort of want to leave asap. One for the future - but the sun loungers aren’t the most comfortable. Bring extra own towels to place near your rear end which will go numb as there’s a metal bar or two you’ll end up resting on. The swim up pool bars generally only have 1 person serving whereas the main pool bars have 3. It means you can have a long wait for drinks especially if people are ordering various cocktails. Order an extra drink or two to avoid a wait. Other than that only other thing I would definitely recommend is getting a taxi to the airport ahead of the coaches otherwise you’ll spend ages in security queues! An amazing hotel - I certainly recommend it ahead of its sister hotel next door (Karamboa) which is more a party hotel and very busy and loud.

Exceptional experience. Phenomenal hospitality. Great variety of food throughout the day (all inclusive). Good branded drinks range. Overall a very well looked after hotel. Rooms ok - was a couple a cockroaches found first day which the staff sorted as soon as! Two twin beds to make a double / king. Slightly irritating as they kept moving /making noises at night. Therefore rooms could do with a makeover at some point. (Side note, the staff did say and were happy to relocate us we just didn’t bother as we had already unpacked) Rooms cleaned daily. Pillows and bed covers could have been replaced/replenished along with mattresses. Stayed 7 days. Weather was perfect - maybe one day of a little overcast but generally hot/warm. Rooms cool once aircon was figured out with fan running. Kids entertaining was ok. Evening entertainment for 30mins plus couple short sessions throughout the day. Overall great experience. Staff did go above and beyond. Very friendly and welcoming.
