the good points : location : its amazing... two steps away from the good attractions of Paje. the room : the concept is very nice.. nice beachfront bungalows. from the bungalow you wake up on soft sunrise :) Staff : helpful and smiling :) Breakfast : the typical Zanzibar breakfast : omelettes, fruits and coffee/ tea along with fresh fruit...

About 8 perfectly situated bungalows all with sea view. You can literally fall out of bed and go kiting. Very friendly staff with a nice restaurant on site. The only down point would be water pressure but with those views you can deal with that!

We took the time to ask around in Paje and finally decided that Kinazi Upepo was the best option for many reasons. It is a small hotel with only 8 bungalows w/private bathroom, all of which have seaview, a terrace, and they are literally right on the beach. It has one of the best prices on the beach and restaurant...

No good food, awful service and high price. Waste of money and time. Would not recommend this place to anyone. 35$ per buffet dinner is not worth of money. You should demand your food from the staff, otherwise you will waste your money

Yesterday we had dinner at this place. It was a buffet offer for 35$ per person, drinks were not included. First we took some food but in 20 minutes the buffet closed, and the dessert or any other snacks were unavailable already. We were a little bit confused about such situation especially for such price. As we came to the...

I must start by stating that we didn't stay overnight, so this is only about the restaurant. Perfectly located right on the beach overlooking Paje Beach. Nicely laid-back atmosphere, but perhaps a bit too laid-back. A bit more enthusiasm from the staff would certainly make this hidden treasure more attractive. The food is good but that's it. Nothing special. As...

Not too much to say about this place. Close proximity to the beach and other resorts. Our bungalow had A/C but it didn't work properly throughout the stay. For what you pay to stay at this resort, you shouldn't expect too much. The room had a nice view of the beach and was close to the water. There aren't really...

The bungalows are unkept, and full of bugs. The beach is beautiful, but so crowded with kite surfers that it was impossible to swim there. The French owners are rather obnoxious, though the staff is very nice and the food is good, but overpriced.

Well, a few years ago, my then-boyfriend-now-husband and I went to Kinazi Upepo and we stayed there only two nights. When we decided to go back to Zanzibar, we wanted to go back to where we'd stayed before as it had been a somewhat magical experience that we wanted to re-live. In four years, absolutely everything changed -- some of...

If I could give it a negative rating, I would. The only saving grace to this hostel/hotel is it's rather tasty (albeit relatively expensive) restaurant and the fantastic wait staff manning it. For $45 per night (b&b rate), we were given a room adjoining a family bungalow, making it semi-private at best. Spartan is an understatement on the decor side...
