We enjoyed our visit with Marie and Philippe. They are wonderful, gracious hosts. But we think it important to express, La Barde is far from being a first class, luxury accommodation. While spacious, clean and the bedding comfortable, we found it needing updates. The bathroom was outdated and furnishings tired and not user friendly (seating in our room not comfortable).... More

While we are saddened by the severity of the rating you assigned us, Philippe and I thank you for taking the time to post this review. We are very sorry that our home decoration is behind your judgment. Our guesthouse is especially a welcoming place where people can meet, exchange ideas, discover other cultures, etc. We are pleased that you... More

Marie and Philippe are the proverbial perfect hosts and their luxury rooms in their delightful house in the hamlet of Montfort provide a great centre for getting out to sample everything the Dordogne has to offer. The other reviews basically echo and amplify this theme and this is therefore clearly telling you something so book in good time to avoid... More

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful B&B for 5 days in early September. The Josephine Room was large and had an awesome view of the local castle. The bath was good size and the deep bathtub provided a good soak from days of touring the area. Marie and Philippe were kind and wonderful hosts that thought of everything... More

Many positive things were already said about the beautiful premises and the kindness of the owners - and it is all true! Close to everything but out of the business of August, it allows to explore the region, while still finding the needed calm in the evenings. Philippe and Marie-Christine have been extremely helpful with all sorts of practicalities.

We stayed here with our two teenage daughters in July. There is plenty to see and do in the local area. Marie-Christine and Philippe were the perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble, they looked after us and made us feel at home from the start. Philippe had an excellent knowledge of the Perigord region and was always on hand... More

Philip and Marie were so welcoming, they shared their love for the region with us, gave us insight into the best castles to visit for our interests and gave us a recommendation for the best dinner we had in our entire 2 week France trip! Our room was beautiful, clean, the water pressure was excellent and the pool was refreshing... More

We have just returned from our seven night stay at La Barde and it was perfection. Marie-Christine and Laura rushed outside to welcome us upon our arrival. After showing us our rooms they offered us each a glass of wine and sat with us to explain the area and all that it has to offer. Throughout our stay Marie-Christine and... More

I guess you will not find a better place to stay in the Perigord noir than the La Barde. On one hand it is right in the heart of the region and therefor ideal to explore it from here (and the Perigord is for sure a place to see!!!). On the other hand Marie-Christine and Philippe are one of the... More

This is the best place we have ever stayed - The house is just beautiful and our hosts Philip and Marie-Christine could not do more to make our stay more welcoming and comfortable. At breakfast Marie-Christine made something special each day and beyond that was the normal cereals bread, meats cheeses etc, but what made breakfast special for us was... More
