Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Don't book this hotel. It's been closed since 2021 according to people in the area. I booked this hotel through Expedia.com. Let me tell you I was pregnant and I had the worst experience of my life here. Me and my family decided to visit Santorini and booked this trip last year. The place is abandoned. No one will answer your phone calls or emails. Expedia.com didn't help at all. I was left in the streets of an unknown place with my family 5 and months pregnant. We were there until 3am in the dark with kids. We were in fear. The place is really lonely so there is no vehicles passing by. No business' or other homes/hotels. We were finally able to contact someone we found online who offered transportation and picked us up and took us to a hotel. It was really expensive but we didn't have a choice. Expedia didn't want to refund me the money. I reported them to BBB and after 3 months I was able to get a compensation for the nightmare I had there. Please be aware of the places you going. Call the hotel, email them before traveling. Have a backup plan always. After reporting this hotel is closed I am in shock that they still advertise it in many sites. If you notice the last review from this hotel is from 2021. I didn't noticed until now.

What a wonderful discovery here in Oia, a charming boutique hotel with an amazing small staff, taking such great care of its guests. A pure delight! A charming quiet place to enjoy the best of Santorini, Oia is only a few minutes away yet this is a peaceful and loving place to stay. Very clean and comfortable, the staff is very outgoing and helpful with any questions I had. This is a wonderful and affordable place and best kept secret, please visit them! Be sure to enjoy yourself and admire the magnificent sunsets surrounded with peace, quiet and a lot of love!

The place is a bit out of the way from Oia, about a 20 minute walk uphill. It has nice views of the sea and a nice garden. The pool had algae around the perimeter so that we dd not go in. The room was decent and simple but smelled of terrible mustiness. Good airco. Very nice staff.

My husband booked this hotel for our holidays in Santorini and it was a good choice. Our room was cozy and simple, but everything worked fine. Our host Alina was super helpful. She really looked after us and Tonia was really generous with breakfast.

We stayed at Ecoxenia and couldn't be more happier. It's away from the busy town of Oia, so it's nice and quiet. The staff were wonderful - we loved Alina and Tonia! They made us feel welcomed and are so friendly and really helpful!! I would definitely stay here again. The only thing I would do differently is have a car since it's about a 20 min uphill walk to Oia. However, we used the bus and it was fine.

The level of genuine hospitality at Ecoxenia from everyone who works here can not be understated. It’s clear they love what they do and have a desire to ensure guests have all their needs met by always going above & beyond. They make us feel at home when we are here. The location is great, and the ocean view is sooo relaxing by the pool. We get the privacy and quiet by being a short bus ride from Oia, but can be there in a few minutes (a 3 minute bus ride or 20 minute walk) for the shops, the restaurants and of course the views. The bus stop is literally a 60 second walk. Side note: after exploring Oia and Fira, I see how few hotels have actual privacy from the multitudes of tourists passing by at all hours. It made me further appreciate the location of Ecoxenia. The food here is great, and the breakfast served is absolutely DELICIOUS (be sure to try the Greek honey!!). The grounds are kept impeccable, and the finishes in the rooms are top shelf. Highly, highly recommended. P.S. If you see Blackie the cat, be sure to say hi! Super sweet. =)

My first reaction was - Wow! Stunning view and so peaceful and quiet! With Oia a stones throw away, ecoxenia's location is bang on! Eva was a big help. Always smiling and so very helpful. Wonderful tips on the best eating joints around Oia! Thank you Eva for a very comfortable stay. Quaint rooms and windows provide a stunning view of the ocean.

We had a wonderful stay at this cute hotel. Perfect located close to Oia. Really friendly and helpful staff, especially Eva! She help us with great recomendations both with places to visit and restaurants. The breakfast was lovely! Standard breakfast with a personal touch. We stayed for five days and the did some variations on our breakfast so we never got bored. All and all a cute and lovely place! I can definitely go back!

Beautiful garden tended by owner Christopher, this place is the perfect antidote to the hype of central Oia,a small bay is just a short walk away where you can be in perfect isolation. Old style hospitality without the hype. Would recommend a stay here

This is the ideal place to stay if you want to do Santorini on a budget and for us the perfect stay. Hotels and villas in the main towns are at least twice the price but for us Ecoxenia truly gives you the best of both worlds. Christopher and his assistant Mariana made our week stay a fantastic experience and Ecoxenia is extremely well thought out for its guests. The rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable with everything you need. We always opt for self-catering (restaurants in Santorini are all expensive) on holiday and the kitchenette was perfectly equipped. If you have a balcony then you can see the colours of the sunset but just hop down to the end of the garden to see all its beauty. We're going to be realistic here about its distance from everything. There is an opening to the sea just a ten minute walk downhill but it is not a built path and the shoreline here is very rocky and covered in seaweed so not ideal if you're looking to swim. There is a private little shack with sun loungers especially for guests here which provides shade and rest. Oia is at least a half hour walk up hill. It is not paved all the way and in the hot weather is pretty gruelling. You can hire a car/ATV if required, just ask Mariana. We did not and found that the holiday provided good exercise. All of Santorini is hilly so if you're not prepared for exercise you should hire a car. On one evening Christopher flagged a car down from a local going to work who gave us a lift up the hill so that's an option too if you're comfortable with it. Oia itself is beautiful and a must-see but be prepared for large swarms of tourists with their selfie sticks and lack of spatial awareness. We recommend going in the morning (before 10am) to avoid getting caught up in the crowds. To walk to Paradexes beach with actual black sand and a more gentle opening into the water is about half an hour in the other direction and there is the great Taverna Delfini on the way for drinks or a snack. The way there is at least level. A taxi to Fira is just €20. Taxi to the airport is €35. Any taxis you need can be booked reliably through Mariana who is at reception from 8am and extremely helpful and knowledgeable. She can also talk you through the island and give you personal recommendations on where to go and what to see. Christopher, as a member of staff she is an absolute credit to Ecoxenia! The gardens at Ecoxenia are gorgeous and extremely well kept. There is loads of space to sit out and the bar is open generally whenever you need. The bar is excellent value and cheaper than anywhere else in Santorini - they also stock the red/yellow donkey ales local to the island. The hot tub is gorgeous, especially if you get a cooler day. Just ask if you want to use it. We actually emailed Christopher before our trip to book a taxi from the airport and get a restaurant recommendation for our wedding anniversary. He was so helpful and we had a lovely meal in Oia and our driver was waiting for us at the airport when we arrived, giving us a local tour of the island and a little volcanic history on the way to Ecoxenia. All in all this has been an extremely pleasant stay made even better by Christopher and his team. We love Santorini and Ecoxenia is the perfect place to stay if you want to get away from obnoxious tour groups and have some real relaxation as well as see the sights.
