It is such fun to meet parents of the freshmen class at Cornell and Ithaca College when they stay here at Halsey House as the area is usually new to them and we welcome the opportunity to ease their concerns and make them feel at home. If we are lucky, we see them over four years and shed tear and... More

Stayed at Halsey House for 3 nights. All was wonderful. House is beautiful, rooms comfy and clean. Owners treated us like family. Breakfasts were absolutely amazing! The recommendations for best local dining and wineries all turned out to be true. Overall, if you want to have an experience of living a Downton Abbey life for a number of days -... More

Downton Abbey...what a compliment. Halsey House is not quite so grand but perhaps a bit warmer and more welcoming and we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We came into this venture with one primary goal: to offer a home and hospitality in keeping with how we would like to be treated were we the guests. It sounds... More

My wife and I just returned from a quick weekend trip to Ithaca. As much as we look forward to visiting our daughter at Cornell, we equally look forward to our stay at the Halsey House. The stresses of our hectic lives seem to erase as soon as we see David coming across the parking lot with a big smile... More

We love our returning guests as they are regular proof that we are doing things right and the fact that you can enter your room and find immediate relaxation is the best possible tribute. We did miss having time to chat with you this visit and we look forward to seeing you in March...we will have the home fires burning... More

Yeah, more kudos for our breakfasts We do change our menus with the seasons as we rely heavily upon our local farms, orchards and dairies in order to bring the freshest possible to our table for guests. Currently, apples are the primary stars be they baked, broiled and bruleed, made into a delicious compote for our puff pancakes, used in... More

We were on a road trip from the UK and stayed here for two nights. The Davids were delightful, warm, friendly and so hospitable. The breakfasts were out of this world, the totally over the top bed with the carved headboard and a stool to use to climb into bed, the wonderful art and theatre memorabilia all made it a... More

Most B&Bs do represent a change from the expected decor and art of corporate hotel and motel chains and we are happy to share what we have with our guests. So many have stories associated with them so we could spend hours relating them...and often do. It is easy for us to be hospitable and delightful when guests like you... More

My husband and I spent 3 days at this beautiful and charming B and B. The hosts were welcoming and very helpful. They gave us suggestions for wineries to visit and other places of interest in the area. Our room, although the smallest, was well appointed and comfortable.

You were in our smallest room (Chamber) but it is cozy and comfortable and the one your innkeepers most often go to when the house is empty of guests and we just want to feel wrapped up in the warmth of that room that was the nursery back when the house was first lived in. All the amenities of our... More

In October 2016 my wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Halsey House for a week taking advantage of its' central location to tour vineyards, gardens and parks, as well as enjoy many local restaurants. It is such a treat when we have guests here for an extended stay as it means that they really want to see much of what the Finger Lakes Region has to offer . There are lots of B&Bs in the Finger Lakes, many of which sound very nice. And yet, when we return (and we really hope to return), we'll book again with "the Davids" for so many reasons. The inn itself is very old and lovingly restored. (If you're looking for hotel-like new lodgings, you'll probably be disappointed.) Do not for a... More

If there is one thing we have learned after 3 1/2 years as innkeepers, it is that there must be good communication between innkeepers and guests if a stay is to be a memorable and enjoyable one. We do our part by sending a welcoming email with lots of information about our home and the surrounding area in an effort... More
