My second visit and whilst you get a warm enough welcome it feels like you've walked into an old-fashioned 'lock in'. Obviously popular with locals but it's such a large space that it doesn't project warmth.

We had meals here on two occassions over 5 days. The first meals were fish & chips and scampi & chips with garden peas and were very nicely cooked, fish was haddock and really fresh and i have to say scampi was really good with twice the amount you would normally get anywhere else. Meals on second occassion not up to...

Very relaxed atmosphere and a great pub experience. It was lively with locals and everyone chatting with everyone else. Felt right at home and had quite a nice fish and chips dinner, with a casque ale. Would certainly recommend if you are looking for a place to settle down and relax for a bit.

After a long journey we were looking for somewhere to eat before travelling on, and what a find! All freshly cooked, good choice of menu, friendly staff and locals, and the meals were enormous and so reasonably priced. The best bit, it was an old fashioned pub no music in the background, such a rarity these days.

This was the closest pub near to where we were staying so on our last night we thought we'd try it out - amazing! We both had steak which was cooked to perfection and the sizes were quite big too, I couldn't eat all mine. We did have pudding too (always room for pudding, right?) and that was lovely too...

The food was good, we ordered a bottle of wine, which did not arrive. The order was taken by the blonde barmaid with her hair in plaits. When we enquired of the lovely waitress with dark hair where the wine was, she asked the other barmaid who cheerfully announced that she had forgotten and had not bothered to follow it...

Quiet Saturday lunch in April, good tasty food, wood burning stove added to atmosphere. Books available to read or buy. Lots of history, good cider, friendly staff and original feel to the place. That day you could feel the earth turn, will certainly revisit and hope to make it my local.

Was looking for a roast / carvery Sunday afternoon having arrived in Cornwall the day before. Stumbled on this pub and have to say what a great carvery. It was mid afternoon so it was the tail end of lunch but nonetheless we couldn't have enjoyed it more. Succulent beef and plenty of roasted veggies and potatoes to go round....

We stayed there for lunch. Dogs are allowed there, which makes it even better. The Restaurant is clean, and comfortable. Higher Pub style. The staff was very friendly and we felt really welcomed. The portions were huge, price little higher but they use local products which absolutely justifies it. Only thing was, that the salad was not good at all....
