The manager and staff are excellent. The food was the best, the Pizza is out of this world. The room was excellent well kept and serviced every day. Oh my God the Location is the best if you want peace and harmony this is the place to go to. The property is right next to the beach and across the Lamu where you can go shop around and learn the history of the Island. My best part was going on a dhawo to watch the sunset and also discover the villages nearby. We wish we could have stayed longer, honestly, I have never felt sadder leaving a place in all my travels

If you prefer authenticity over ostentation, a location that is respectful of its environment and warm, kindly service you need to stay at Diamond Beach. The site itself is gorgeous; a cluster of traditionally-inspired bandas with kitchen, bar/dining area and library at their centre. The bandas are simple yet elegant with en suite facilities and space to chill outside away from the bustle of the other buildings. The beach is easily accessed and the beach beds provide shelter during even the hottest parts of the day. We spent days swimming, reading and eating the magnificent food. Suffice to say people come from all over Shela and Manda Islands just to visit the restaurant. Excellent music, Friday film night, yoga and massages all contributed to our very special experience at Diamond Beach. This is a place not just to stay but to make real connections with fellow travellers and marvellous hosts Rachel, Helen and Tima. Can't recommend enough!

We wish we could have stayed longer. This is the real deal. Authentic, hip, comfortable & relaxed common areas and a delightful, simple, traditional banda with ensuite toilet and shower, and all buildings made entirely of natural and local materials. As if we had stepped back in time and found comfort in a local village. Fabulous beach location, great for loooong walks, and facing Shela village, only a short, easy and cheap boat ride way. Sunsets are SPECTACULAR and the shaded beach beds are a perfect place to watch the day go by and especially to see the sunset dhows sail by each evening. The best part, an incredibly talented chef that prepares mouthwatering, delicious dishes including fresh. local seafood, that draw visitors from all the hotels and villas in the Shela and Lamu area. Yoga, massages and more are available. If getting away from it all and living simply but surprisingly decadently appeals, then this is the place for you.

We were staying at The Majlis just 300 meters walk along the beach and we came for dinner at Diamond Beach twice in three days. Beautiful sunsets over the stunning beach towards Lamu Island, Diamond Beach serves the best pizzas I have had in Africa and as good as any in Naples. Lovely staff in the very laid back very casual bar/restaurant and very good prices.

Nice location with very friendly staff. The pizzaoven made their pizza the best pizza i had whilst in Kenya. However the bed in coconut hut was broken. Furthermore there were too many sandflies on the beach and we were heavly attackted Apparently coconutoil prevent the flies from biting, but we were never informed about IT. AS there is no shops on Manda beach, one needs to go to Lamu town to buy the oil which is not convinent. When you look at the price for the accomodation, they should have provided this.

We arrived on Saturday late morning and were shown to our bandas (we were even upgraded from a twin to two individual bandas). The accommodation is basic but very comfortable and clean and has everything you might need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The village is right on the beach which is gorgeous and perfect for sun bathing, swimming and (at night) stargazing. The beach is also not busy and on my morning swims I had the whole beach and the water to myself. For swimmers the sea is perfect and you could quite easily swim across the channel to the island opposite (although, of course, be very careful of tides and currents - you can probably find someone to accompany you with a boat). The food is delicious and eating breakfast with the beautiful view or dinner by the campfire is perfect. Rachel and her staff are very friendly and helpful. If you get tired of relaxing there is a lot to do. We went on a sunset dhow cruise and also were lucky enough to watch baby turtles hatching. Lamu town is only a short boat trip away and well worth a visit. Yoga classes and massage is also available at Diamond Beach. We only stayed 2 nights (3 days) but could easily have stayed longer.

If empty beaches, wonderful sea, unbelievably friendly people, no cars, great food, lovely weather, back to nature no frills living, albeit with white wine and Wi-fi, then you would be hard pressed to find a better spot that Rachel’s banda village. Thank you to Rachel and her fabulous staff. I’ll be back

We ended our honeymoon with a nine-day stay at Diamond Beach. What a great decision! Rachael was a fantastic host and looked after us so well throughout the stay. We stayed in Frangi pani which was incredible - a two-storey banda with its own sitting room and balcony. Thank you for our beautiful honeymoon flower welcome on the bed! We particularly loved all the amazing places to relax at Diamond Beach Village - not only was there a swinging bench on our balcony and a swinging bench in the garden but Diamond Beach is home to a wonderful library and bar area with hammocks, sofas etc. The location of Diamond Beach was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. Diamond Beach is right on the beach and has uninterrupted views of the beach and sunset. We never got tired of sitting in the bar sipping the delicious cocktails as the sun went down and the locals played volleyball. It was without doubt the best beach we saw in our whole time in Kenya. The food at Diamond was also delicious. The pizza is to die for and there is also a selection of healthy dishes and fresh seafood as well. Breakfast consisted of a generous portion of fresh fruit and eggs. All of the staff were really welcoming and Peter in particular really went out of his way to look after us. I was a bit worried at first that nine days might be too long but it definitely wasn't and we wished we could stay for longer! You could easily while away days relaxing at Diamond at what feels like its private beach. However, you can also get a boat over to Shela to go shopping or to Lamu Town to explore this fascinating traditional Swahili settlement. We also walked to the Takwa ruins, went on a sunset dhow, enjoyed Diamond's Friday film night and had a massage from Monica which is highly recommended! It's an excellent base to explore Lamu from - we enjoyed all of our excursions but were so happy to return. Plus there is no way you will have your own secluded beach like this anywhere on Lamu or Shela. We left feeling so relaxed after staying at this piece of paradise. A huge thank you to Rachael and her team for everything.

This restaurant offers a welcoming place to grab a bite, serving the best pizza in the whole of Lamu. There is a wide variety of options, each with fresh toppings and many drinks available which are served chilled. Perfect on a hot day at the coast! It’s on the beach and provides easy access to the ocean if you want to pop in for a swim. The hotel and restaurant also has lounges on the beach to relax and sunbathe. Diamond Beach also offers cozy rooms to stay. It also shows a movie every Friday. This place throws a New Years Eve party and brings in DJs from other coastal locations and countries around the world. The location means that one can experience the undisturbed peace of the sea but still be close to Peponi Hotel and The Majlis Hotel which offer more restaurants and activities. Lovely place!

Beautiful oasis right on the beach. I've been coming to Lamu for years and this i my favourite place to stay - the perfect eco getaway. The traditional banda-style accommodation is clean and comfortable, and you really get the feel that you're nature, waking up to the sound of birds singing in the beautiful baobab tree. The staff are friendly and helpful, the food is excellent, particularly the pizza from the wood-fired pizza oven, and the view from the bar is spectacular, especially when enjoyed with a cocktail at sunset. We also loved the hammocks and the library/chill-out space. Thanks Rachael and everyone at Diamond. This place is magical!
