Stayed for 2 nights with my husband in the beach wing, “Best Room”, first floor.
Cons:
1. Photos available on website are the one on ground floor, where bathtub is outside showing a romantic cadre but first floor room is very disappointing. It lack originality, no decor.
2. You can barely sit by the pool, its too windy.
3. It has its private beach reserved for the hotel only, it was very dirty, lots of algae you cannot even step in the water.
4. We wanted to do the water-sports, went to the reception to book same, they said to go to the boathouse, it was closed and when we enquire about it no one could give a proper reply of when it would be open. For the 3 days we were there the boathouse remained closed.
5. The food is average, nothing special and also lack variety, breakfast everyday you get the same thing, buffet you have very limited choices, a la carte menu for lunch and dinner is very similar, its like you are eating the same thing.
6. Iron your clothes before going, i asked the reception if they could bring it to my room, they said i have to come get it to the reception, which was very far from the beach wing.
7. Hotel infrastructure clearly needs renovation.

Pros:
1. Very friendly staff.
2. Rooms were cleaned, with basics provided, tea, coffee, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel.
3. Waiters were courteous and provided a good service.
4. Pools were cleaned.
5. I highly recommend their Balinese Spa, these ladies are truly gifted.
6. Beach wing is a very quiet place, good for relaxing.

Overall, i would rate my stay 5 out of 10. I won’t be visiting Ocean Villas again, but i shared my personal experience. Others might experience it differently.

Been there for the week end and i must say I was very impressed with the good food! Love the Bbq and chinese night theme!

Balinese massage excellent, highly recommended!

The room was very cleaned but pillows need some replacement, we could see that it was very old.

Just a little note:
The staffs in the restaurant need some training specially for customer service and professionalism.

For what we paid (and the star grading) we weren't expecting a luxury stay. That said, we were expecting clean, (in the best room in the resort) well maintained and equipped room. We were slightly disappointed.

You get simple and clean enough.

While the beach room is wonderfully positioned, it was so windy that we weren't able to sit outside and enjoy the pool area and beach in front of our room. Maybe it was the time of year. We did enjoy the pool room pool area though, which was protected from the wind.

The staff really were lovely, and I must commend them all.

The restaurant was beautiful (loved the cocktails) but the food was bang average. A good place to have pre-dinner drinks and then to disappear to find somewhere special for a meal (there is a nice place along the beach).

Overall a nice-to-average stay, in a decent location. Close enough to take a short bus ride to Perebay, which is a stunning little beach. I must say this was extremely convenient.

If you are looking for romantic or luxury, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a simple and affordable base in Grand Baie with a sea view, then this is perfect for you.

Stunning location!! Fabulous room right on the beach with just the infinity pool between our bedroom doors and the ocean. Comfy huge bed, powerful shower and good air con and Wi-Fi. What’s not to like 👍🏻😁. Good breakfast especially the fresh chilli sauce which is meant to be eaten with some fried dumpling type nuggets but was actually delicious on everything. We stayed b&b as wanted to try local restaurants and we risked life and limb by catching the bus for about 20 pence each every evening which hurtles at breakneck speed the 5 minutes into town. Still, it was safer than certain death by walking on unlit roads with the daredevil buses whizzing past! Taxis home were between £5 and £6. Beach by the hotel has the softest pale sand and as well as the hotel bar there is another attractive beach bar a 5 minute walk away with good cocktails and food (Eden).
Clifford the hotel owner was charming and took time to chat to us on our first evening while we were in the bar. All in all a great hotel but the beach rooms are the undoubtedly the best and our ground floor beach room had an outdoor shower and bath at the back.

Do not recommend for accommodation. Misleading prices not mentioned anyway on promotional material that then double in price when comes to booking.

What a shame as a Mauritian resident who wants to support local tourism that’s been shattered the past year, but then be surprised with that and bad service on top of it. Spend your money elsewhere not here as clearly they do not need it.

We, a group of four couples, all about 70, stayed at this property from January 19-24, 2023 (Room# 301, 302, 303, 304). Our first experience of check-in, Reception was a little disappointing. In spite of registering in advance online and sending it by mail, the Receptionist, who appeared after sometime, struggled with her computer and located our details on our insistence.

Next disappointment was when we were told there were no bellboys and we have to lug our luggage ourselves to our rooms. This is a spread out property. She would show us our rooms when she would be free. Through cobbled stones we lugged our belongings to our rooms. Two rooms were on the ground floor, two on the first floor without lifts. One friend was taken through the stairs on the first floor, was asked to come down and go up again through the other staircase.

We had informed the hotel well in advance that we all 8 were Indian vegetarians, and any one cooked hot item in breakfast would be all right for us. They had told us that they had enough items in their menu. On the first day of breakfast one of us went there beforehand to survey what was available. Apart from cold, uncooked items, there was nothing for us. On our request they cooked something on the first day. Thereafter, there was no hot item for us, apart from usual toast etc.

Our conclusion:

Good property for vacation but not friendly to Indian (vegetarians) tourists and not friendly to senior citizens.

So we had a one night stay in this so called villa. Check in time was supposed to be at 14hrs but had to wait till 15.15 to get the room, which was occupied by another tenant. If it was up to us as husband and wife it would be fine but having a baby who started to get irritated, that hit the bottomline. We got our room, which was very standard. Fast forward to dinnertime: it was a barbecue grilled dinner theme with limited variety of food/salad/dessert! And dinner was supposed to start at 19.30 but buffet only opened at 19.50 or so. Just imagine how much famished one would be! Next day, we expected it to be better but it was worse. Breakfast was tasteless, no added value and limited choice. As for lunch, it was a la carte which was supposed to be at 12.30. But guess what guys? Lunch was served at 13.10!!! My baby was famished, had to request several times before finally grabbing a portion of french fries. I would defo not
recommend this cheapo 'hotel'. Service is lamentable and not customer oriented.

Poor room condition and mauritian guest are treated like dog and the lady on the reception need more trainings and very rude and even you can see her while i was having my diner she was taking food from the restaurant which is not allow normally according to sanitation and even the cook was tasting the sauce using his finger.
As i check in late she gave me a room next to the parking area and also as i saw the hotel is empty i requested to get a room in same catégorie near the resto she told me the hotel is full first time and then after that she told me its a suit which accommodate 2 -3 family which is not true as i ask the waiter on duty he told me all the room are free.
I hope this will take into consideration and severe action will be taken as she told me that she is incharge of the hotel and no duty manager is available. And also when i ask her name as she dont even have a name badge she told me do whatever i want. I was really shocked by her behavior.
Becareful before booking this hotel.

Stayed in beachfront suite. Photos totally misleading - looks nothing like that in reality. Supposed to be an adults only retreat - had children as well as other guests and random people using facilities. Old, shabby and run down. No beach to sit on. Pool in poor repair, light with loose wires hanging in water - hazard. Loungers, cushions broken and wet all the time because they are left out at night. Food ok. Would definitely NOT return or recommend.

The best hosts. Warm friendly team who always greet their customers with a welcoming smile. Rooms are well maintained and decorated at a great art for special occasions. Peaceful, tranquil internal gardens for relaxing. Their wide choice of buffet leaves your mouth watering with excitement for the traditional cuisine that will warm your pallet throughout their courses. Varieties between breakfast, lunch and under the beautiful lot restaurant for your evening meal. Cleanliness is definitely their priority. Their private beach and garden furnished with the exotic palm trees and coconut trees and also mixed with beautiful flowers. All this is well within your budget. Authentic appearance of Mauritius on your door step for your experience. Totally 100% .Océan Villa has and is will always be my preferential choice for a relaxing deserved holiday.
