I read all reviews before we flew out and knew from comments that Hotel was in need of uplift, sprucing up. On arrival, we were given a sea facing room which meant a lot to us, so any shortcomings on decor, etc didn't matter much. I enjoyed the solitude esp walking to the cliff top where weddings take place with stunning views of the ocean. My husband wanted to Sail, attached to the Hotel is a Sailing Club so it suited him. The beach section is limited, however, if you walk out of Hotel, on both sides (Mont Choisy Beach on left) and another beach on right, a short walk brings you to stunning white sand beaches (public) where deck chairs are free. No one harasses you to buy stuff. Evening entertainment at hotel was good, different performers in evenings, they allowed my Husband to sing with the Band every night. All staff from cleaners to Managers were so helpful and had time to talk and sort out our transport or day trips. Rooms were cleaned daily, given fresh towels, had to buy bathroom essentials. Dinners had less vegetarian choice, so went out few nights. Hotels on same road facing the sea were far more expensive, Coral Azur was good to our pocket and allowed us to explore this Paradise Island. Want to go back to stay at Coral Azure for a month as it is affordable and ideal location.

OK, this is a tough one! Before I say anything else, I want to reiterate that the staff at this hotel are awesome, incredibly helpful and very friendly.
Now, the hotel itself. It needs investment!!
The first room we were put in was supposedly an ‘Ocean View Upgrade.’
Ocean View is debatable, we could see a few bits of the ocean between all the trees etc. but we could live with that. What we couldn’t live with was that the room itself was very tired, it had dodgy wiring (tape round the kettle cable, loose sockets, flickery lights, a cable running across the ceiling of the shower albeit in some trunking) and was generally not very pleasant.
We asked to be moved but were told that the hotel was fully booked until the Monday (we arrived on a Saturday). On the Monday, we were shown an available room on the front (road) part of the hotel which had been refurbished. We accepted it as it was much more pleasant than the room we were in. Not to sound picky but the finish was still a little rough around the edges (poor bathroom tiling, broken floor tile at entrance etc.) but it was much nicer than the previous room.
As for the other amenities, the spa treatments were very good and my Wife paid for some additional massages. The entertainment was sometimes OK and a bit of fun and sometimes awful or non existent but we weren’t worried about that either way.
The food and eating area was also hit and miss. We found getting there closer to the start of each sitting was better than arriving late as often the food had dried out and gone a bit cold if you left it late.
In general the food was acceptable and sometimes very good, the young chef who cooked a few things fresh was excellent and often he was working alone in a fairly tight space trying to keep everyone happy and he did a sterling job.
Unfortunately there were a lot of flies and birds in the restaurant area but I guess this is difficult to avoid in an open air setting - the fly situation was quite annoying at times though.
As for someone serving you drinks during the meal, if it was quiet then generally they’d come and find you but often when they were busy, we got completely missed and had to go across to the bar to get our own drinks / water. They need a better system than ‘spot the guests’ to ensure everyone is covered.
Again, all the staff were really good and very friendly so I’m not blaming them for this, it just needs organising better.
Overall, don’t expect a luxury experience if you stay here, I know it’s officially a 3 star hotel and some elements of it are but it needs some money spent on it and some more thought to how they run certain areas. Full credit to the staff for doing their best and being so polite and friendly.
We did have a lovely holiday on this beautiful and interesting island, we just maybe had higher expectations of the hotel which weren’t fully met but we didn’t let it spoil things - the location is great and there are some nice beaches within a short walk too.

Star of my stay: Chef Sunden ,chef Bungshee ,Jocelyn
Chef Sunden worked my meal plan according to the email I sent and he did not show any lack of ability to deliver my request. When Chef Sunden is not there then you have Chef Bungshee who takes over and kindly takes care of you which makes you feel safe and reassured. When both chefs are busy cooking then you have Jocelyn who serves your food with humor and knows how to approach you to make you feel at ease.

Special mention: to the girls at the reception, friendly, assertive, they bring to life the hotel.

Message to Management:

Dear Management, Your hotel's success relies heavily on your staff, the rooms are old and for the money that we pay, we can have much better and newer rooms. A guest will have a memorable experience provided that food, room, staff, and entertainment are at least satisfactory. Right now rooms are failing. I hope you are planning a renovation because you are very lucky to have your property on that piece of land with such a splendid view.

Thanks to Mr Keseven from the reservation who has been helpful.

We were really looking forward to our trip to Mauritius having changed the date twice due to covid. We had a great flight with Emirates and arrived on 8/10/21 full of excitement. Arriving at the hotel I felt a little put off by the shabby reception area, smeared glass tables and tatty paintwork, but I could see the incredible view and was optimistic. On the way to our room I noticed how the grounds looked lovely, tropical and very well cared for. Arriving at our room I noticed the dirty tatty paintwork on the door and on entering I was surprised at the well worn appearance, but the view was amazing. Having had a chance to look around we were shocked at how tatty the furnishings were and decided to ask for a different room. The staff obliged and we were moved to a room with no view, (having paid for a deluxe ocean view), with a busy road behind us. We were not at all happy with this and asked to be moved again, this time we were given another ocean view room which was a little better, but still not of a great standard. Unfortunately, whilst we were having issues over our room there were also issues over the food, Buffett only for the whole of our stay, often not hot enough and of a very poor standard. After 3 days of complaining to the hotel and our travel company (Blue Bay Travel, who told us to discuss with the hotel!), we decided to draw a line under it and just enjoy the location or we ran the risk of ruining our whole holiday. There was only one Buffett restaurant and nothing else - not what was quoted in the resort information. We ended up eating out a lot which added considerable cost to our trip.

The positives - the location is lovely, beautiful sunsets, lovely helpful staff who are happy to try and help in any way they can, but short if fitting new bathrooms and redecorating, changing the menu/dining options, there wasn’t much they could do.
We felt that the hotel needs to be totally refurbished- it does not fit with a 3 Star European standard in terms of decor/facilities, dining. We would have been happy to have limited facilities if it had been tidy (well decorated snd spotless).

My husband and I have recently returned from spending New Year in this great little hotel. We were all inclusive. There was a huge choice of food at every meal, the drinks package catered for every taste including cocktails but prices for other drinks off the AI list were very reasonable.
There were regular activities during the day and evening entertainment but no pressure to join in,
Rooms were clean and towels changed daily.
Staff were incredibly helpful and nothing was too much trouble. They were all fluent in French and English and happy to make recommendations on places to go and modes of transport. (Taxi being far and away the best).
There is a pool, jacuzzi and private beach area and Wi-Fi in all the public areas.
The jewel 💎 in the crown 👑 was New Years Eve - I don’t know where to start, drinks, a huge beautifully set out buffet, entertainment including amazing fireworks. All the guests were treated like royalty.
The hotel is in need of a spruce up but given they had no income for many months without an income (Covid 19) it is unsurprising.

My husband and I stayed here for a week all the way from England.
Lovely greeting on arrival, special mention to Allan he is a wonderful and very talented all round entertainer. Not so good to be said for the hotel, the rooms were old and run down. On the first day we had a bottle of water in the room, second day we asked our cleaner for more to be told, it’s only the first day free (we were all inclusive)!! We had to ask the bar staff for it daily! Tea and coffee supplies the same! We had supplies first day but they were used on arrival, I asked for supplies for the morning and was told “you won’t get anymore till morning”!! The milk was powder and not liquid! Lovely clean thick towels changed daily, restaurant was very poor and looked generally dirty, flies, pidgeons, in fact every time you moved from your table if you left anything on your plate it would be attacked by birds within seconds! We normally eat lots of salad on holiday but this looked so unappetising in an old dirty cabinet we had none! Lovely comfortable sofas in the bar area but no entertainment, only local dancers on the first night, after that it was music, locals singing and dancing, not entertaining at all. I felt cheated at this hotel as far as all inclusive goes, bar closed at 10pm - not that we are big drinkers. There was no mattresses on the sunbeds which meant we were sat on hard plastic loungers, very uncomfortable. Special thanks to head barman Phil, wonderful, honest and polite guy, overall would not recommend this hotel, these are honest comments and to travel for almost 24 hours, I wasn’t impressed, please feel free to ask me anything

Lovely hotel in a great location. Beautiful entrace at reception to the hotel, staff welcoming and informative of events around hotel and things to do on the island. The hotel has it’s own beach area with various watersports and within walking distance along the shore of public beaches on either side. The hotel grounds are very nice, well maintained gardens with various seating areas to sit and enjoy the gardens and the atmosphere of the holtel. Meals were themed every night from italian, spanish and mauritian nights, food was very good with plenty choice for everyone. Entertainment varied each night with music, dancing and shows. Nice area around the bar to sit and enjoy the night.

We visited Mauritius for the first time over Easter, with our two kids of 2 and 3 years old. Everything at Coral Azur has been wonderful and easy! We reserved via WhatsApp: Shilpa has always replied quickly and professionally, explaining options and giving advices to make our reservation and better prepare our trip! She was lovely when we met her in person as well, like the rest of the staff who is one of the key strengths of this place. Jennifer Lopez, Sunil, Vincent and everyone was kind and helpful, professional and friendly, able to speak many languages and to give us top recommendations… with a smile on their face they all made our holiday fun, relaxing and unforgettable!

The hotel is a bit old, but we did not mind as it is very charming and full of positive vibes. It is located by the sea, has a lovely and well kept garden, a pool and a small beach but we usually went to Mont Choisy, a magnificent beach 5 min walking distance to the hotel. There are many cab drivers that can take you around the island and a bus stop in front of the hotel with buses passing every 5-10 min during the day to go easily to Grand Baie, Port Luis or other places.

We booked a standard room, which was perfect in size and perfectly cleaned every day. Breakfast was great, with chefs preparing delicious pancakes among other things. Dinner was also always tasty, offering a good variety of food and different types of cuisines that our kids loved to explore!
The hotel organises complementary activities like a lovely tour on the glass boat and has entertainment during the day, including a kids club, but we never joined the daily activities as we always left after breakfast and came back before dinner.

Finally, not only the staff was amazing but also the owner of the hotel, Maxime. Thanks to his generosity, we saw many beautiful places of the island and discovered its warm and welcoming culture. We will always treasure the special memories and we will think about our Mauritian adventures looking forward to be back soon!

4 couples joined in to celebrate Valentine's day. We checked in at 2 pm on 14 feb. Riom was readily available. Greeted by Jenny Lo. Lol Thats what she is called.
Although a3* hotel the service and other amenities could be rated as a 4*.
For dinner ladies were greeted with a rose bud. The seafood buffet was out of this world..with fresh urchin oysters smoke marlin calamari prawns lobster soup..exquisite salads..a corner for those who do not fancy seafood like venison meat poultry etc
All to finish with a mouthwatering desert buffet.
We enjoyed aqua gym early morning. For a medium size hotel there are plenty of entertainment both inland and at sea.
Good housekeeping and even a safe in the room. Really enjoyed and not expensive.

Arrived after a long flight to a warm reception, welcome drink and amazing views of the Indian ocean as you walk through reception, the all inclusive tariff was available straight away.
As per other reviews the property and our room 125 was a little dated but the hotel had taken on board peoples comments and were undertaking a large refit, yes there was work going on which we were advised about beforehand but it didn't impact on us at all, our room was spacious and comfortable with a huge bed it was located right next to the sea, it was cleaned daily the towel figures were a nice touch and made us smile the aircon was handy.
Tea and coffee making facilities' in the room could have been a little better, all areas were spotlessly clean with a high standard of daily housekeeping.
While we were there the pool area was very quiet during the day there was never any hassle over getting a sunbed with several areas away from the pool if required, we never had to wait for drinks and although the hotel was exceptionally busy for evening meals with lots of families on holiday we never had to wait for a table or food.
The staff are amazing, friendly, helpful and cheerful without exception .
There is a massive French influence and staff did tend to favor that but why wouldn't they, people speak French there, you wouldn't go to the Isle of White and complain that they spoke English, probably might want to give it a miss if you are a Francophile.
Food at all mealtimes was generally ok with a decent selection, our only gripe would be that no matter what time you turned up the food was mostly cold which put us off sometimes and meals were a quick affair, appreciate the amount of mass catering that went on but there must be more options to keep food hotter and more appetizing.
Its true there is a smallish beach to one side, its a little rocky but shallow and perfectly ok to swim in, if you want something a little more substantial the beach at Mont Choisy is one of the best on the island and is a 5 minute walk away, Trou au Biches beach is also amazing but a little further 20 mins.
To summarize
Great location
Amazing staff
A little dated but fixing it
Facilities good
Food ok but would be 100% better if it was hotter
