With a heavy heart we left this most amazing place. We felt instantly relaxed and at home in this beautiful setting. The staff at Dar Imlil were so welcoming and couldn’t do enough for myself and my teenage sons. From carrying our bags, preparing the hamman, bringing us drinks, booking treks, fetching pizzas for my boys and making me a gorgeous birthday cake. Our room was huge with the most enormous super king sized bed and twin beds; spotlessly clean. The food was delicious with an ample breakfast and outstanding coffee. We arrived as strangers and left feeling part of the family and not wanting to leave. I cannot wait to return for a longer stay and to summit Toubkal. The things they don’t tell you .... they can organise trekking and have their own trekking website which I have asked them to upload on their website; there’s an amazing yoga/ meditation room on the roof and sometimes they have a visiting yoga teacher Omar who happened to be there with a group on team building; the village community has such a wonderful ethos with everyone supporting each other. I defy you not to leave relaxed and wishing you’d booked for longer. We will be back and miss you all xxx…
The Dar Imlil is on a hill slope over looking the village, with amazing views in most directions. Our room was so comfortable and had underfloor heating which was great in January! Being able to sit on a balcony in the sunshine with a cup of tea - there are tea-making facilities - made our stay special. The staff were attentive and very helpful. THis was my second visit and I'd go again
Our welcome was wonderful. Dinner was lovely but we had rats pooing in our room as we tried to sleep. It was awful. We didn't get a restful night. We paid 300 Euros to stay here, 75 Euros for dinner. My daughter was very sick and threw up the next morning and not a single person there showed any compassion. It's a pity as the place could have been such a lovely experience for us. Our room's sliding door didn't close. There was a small gap blowing in cold air. That was fixed eventually. We asked for the under floor heating to be turned on again as we were repeatedly told we had been 'upgraded' in our rooms. Unfortunately the hygiene standards are non existent. We were asked why we didn't go looking for someone to help us at 1am! I should have asked why we had more than 2 people sleeping in our room!!!!…
The photos of Dar Imlil do not match up with reality. In the end, we did fall in love with the charm of the place and our hosts (who bent over backwards for us) but it was a stark contrast with our Marrakech hotel upon arrival. Very authentic and aged. Things we didn't love: 1. We had the rooms on the main level, so every time we entered and exited our rooms, we were in the company of everyone in the lobby, dining areas. One night, it was very smokey (grilling in the kitchen) and our room suffered because of that. I would avoid the main level rooms. 2. Very old (but clean) linens. 3. Smaller rooms had open showers in the bathrooms so that the entire bathroom would get soaked with water when you showered. 4. Very dark in main areas and in rooms (when were the photos taken?!). Granted, the sun came up at 8:30am in December, so please add more light! Things we loved: 1. The hosts were delightful and worked very hard. 2. Lovely views from the many terraces. 3. Great location for day hikes into the National Park. 4. Breakfast was more than we expected. Great coffee! 5. Dinners were nice - after long hikes, it was nice to sit by one of the two fire stoves and warm up.…
Staff are fantastic, willing to assist with every request. Food in-house is perfect for our needs. After a day out hiking we asked for an orange and they bought a whole table with a bowl of oranges! They also assisted us with a booking for a Tagine cooking class, Berber family experience and local hikes. Would definitely recommend this hotel!
