Kasbah du Toubkal is the number one property of choice for comfortable hotel accommodation in the village of Imlil and the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Just 90 minutes from Marrakech, the Kasbah (1820 m) is set on a hilltop in the Toubkal National Park below the towering flanks of Jbel Toubkal (4167 m), the highest mountain in North Africa. The region of Imlil is in striking contrast to the busyness of the city and is a place of peace and quiet surrounded by nature. The Kasbah is 100 metres above our reception in Imlil and is reached via a 15-minute walk (mules carry your luggage). The award-winning hotel offers fourteen comfortable en-suite rooms, three of which can be used as a private self-contained house. In addition, there are three family rooms. The delightful garden and large terraces offer unparalleled views of the surrounding mountains. Our friendly and knowledgeable local Berber team will make every effort to ensure your stay is as enjoyable as it can be.

In this hotel you can only arrive by foot, your lugguage is transported by a mule. After a 15 minute uphill walk you feel immediately at home in the cosy guestroom with several fireplaces and off course a welcoming tea with a little sweet snack. From here you walk to the Toubkal mountain or there are several other great hikes to make with local guides. After a hike you can use the Hamman for relaxiation of the muscles. The building is made from loam and stones which gives a very authentic feeling. They do a prefect job in avoiding the use of plastic water bottles by offering water from a purified mountain source which taste great. Their service and attention for the guests is very good.

We had an amazing time, comfortable ensuite accommodation with a balcony and studding view, wonderful staff, delicious food and a great guide. Having lunch cooked for us on the mountain side was just the perfect break in each day's trekking. The Kasbah supports Education for All and works hard to support and protect the environment around it...you must visit and see for yourself.

I and a colleague were here for two weeks in January to provide internationally accredited Mountain and First Aid training to local Berber Mountain Guides.
Being aware of damage sustained during last Septembers devastating earthquake we had wondered how our stay would be……
On our arrival we were warmly welcomed and shown to two fabulous en-suite rooms. The newly created dining room was in the higher Garden Room and the Conference Room we’d use was in tip top condition.
The only part missing due to damage was the old dining room and the towered terrace but there is a brand new terrace to relax on for lunch and to enjoy the all round views which include Mt Toubkal (4167m) to the south.
Our full board arrangements included three meals a day which were always to a very high standard. The freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast, chicken kebabs for lunch and lemon chicken for dinner are amongst my favourites.
Reconstruction is in progress but it is screened off from view with no noise disturbances heard at all during our stay.
We spoke with other residents and lunchtime day visitors who were all enjoying themselves.
Congratulations to the team for getting the Kasbah du Toubkal up and running again - a stay here is highly recommended.

Arriving in the dark and walking 15 minutes by torchlight, uphill to the hotel following a mule was a good introduction to an amazing experience in the mountains. We left it very late to book but luckily there was space in the large berber lodge which suited our needs perfectly. There were four of us and we slept on mattresses in the "loft area" where there was plenty of room with a large seating area down below. Not suitable for the infirm - you have to climb a ladder to get to bed and the bathroom is down the corridor.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating - nothing was too much trouble. We booked a trek for the following day to Sidi Charamouch which was fantastic. Only four hours with a very informative and friendly guide, Brahim, who was very keen for us to see as much as possible. There are also free, shorter group treks offered by the hotel.
The food was delicious. Everyone is served the same food and it was really tasty with large portion sizes.
The hotel has lots of nooks and crannies and it is easy to find space for downtime, even when it is fully booked. The library with its views and woodturning stove were a favourite, as was the roof terrace.with its clean, clear mountain air and yet more incredible mountain views.
The hamman was another experience well worth trying. You have to book it but you have it to yourselves and instructions are on the wall (!).
We were only in Morocco for five nights, two of which were here, which really wasn't long enough - looking forward to returning soon.

Response from mikekasbahtoubkal, Owner at Kasbah Du Toubkal
Responded 2 Jan 2020
Hello Thank you for your kind words particularly pleasing to hear how you enjoyed our Berber Salons and I dare say if you had booked late these were the only rooms available, but they allowed you to enjoy the Berber hospitality and food and as you say there are many small hide away public places open to all our guests. We absolutely believe our Berber staff and guides are key to the experience of our guests and allow them an insight into these proud mountain people. We like to think the Kasbah du Toubkal with its range of accommodation prices allows a great mix of people to stay at our Kasbah du Toubkal and experience the spectacular Atlas Mountains. Its true when looking up to the majestic Jbel Toubkal from the roof terrace its difficult to believe one is only 90 minutes (including the 15 minute walk) from the hussel and bussel of Marrakech. Thank you for your visit and we hope you will come again. Wishing you well Mike McHugo and All the Kasbah du Toubkal team

A long overdue return visit to the Kasbah du Toubkal and it was wonderful to step through the wooden door once again into this very special place. We thoroughly enjoyed our Ouka room and its double aspect balconies and views down the valley. The staff are fantastic, so kind and accommodating and the traditional food is delicious.
The highlight was our trek to the Azzaden trekking lodge with our brilliant guide, Hassan Thami and muleteers Hussein and Ibrahim. It was challenging at times in the heat but Hassan looked after us well and adapted the pace, offering us shady rest stops when he could see we were flagging. The lunches provided en route were amazing and the trekking lodge very comfortable, and again superb hospitality from Omar and the lodge team. We spent 2 nights at the lodge which was worth it as it allowed us to do the half day walk around the villages in the Azzaden valley - fascinating and gives a glimpse of Berber life in these remote communities.
Overall, another very enjoyable visit to the kasbah and the beautiful Atlas Mountains, highly recommended.

Staying at this kasbah was an experience, a nice experience. Our “suites” were 70 very uneven steps down from the reception and main area of the kasbah. They did have many rooms on the main level. That said, our rooms had heated floors and everything we needed and had a beautiful view. We had balconies in the back and patios by the front door where you can set out chairs and admire the view and relax.
With very little choices in the area, you’ll probably eat at the kasbah. Food was rustic in a very good way. All locally sourced and cooked on site. Everyone eats the same thing. No a la carte. There’s a typical Berber oven right next to where you can fill up your water bottles with water from reverse osmosis system. BTW you should bring your own reusable bottles. They don’t have bottled water.

The hotel is located in the valley of the Imlil river, with a majestic elevation that makes it visible from most of the valley. The view from the hotel and in particular from the terrace and tower are magnificent, with a delicious meal or just a tea and a small snack the mind is really relaxing and calling for new adventures already at the same time. The Staff is equipped with a very strong passion for helping and supporting the clients, being flexible, extremely friendly and highly skilled in making an atmosphere in the spirit of the Amazigh (Berber). The hotel has a strong ethic to help the local society, keep the environment clean and support sustainability. Overall, a magnificent stay, strongly recommended.

When we learned that our hotel in Ouirgane had closed (COVID-19 effect), we had to scramble for new accommodations somewhere in the mountains. Not knowing anything about the Kasbah, we took the chance. It turned out that Lahcen and Team saved our silver anniversary celebration. Lahcen responded within minutes of contact, sometime around 5 or 6 am. He set us up in a beautiful room with beautiful views, and he even arranged a small hike for us. We are not trekkers at all, but they were incredibly accommodating and patient. Mohamad was the perfect guide for slow lowlanders. The whole community was friendly and accepting. Sometimes one fears surprises on a trip. But this surprise was perfectly wonderful, all because of Kasbah du Toubkal.

The Kasbah is a great hotel at the edge of the villge of Imlil. The rooms are decorated in traditional Moroccon style, with all comforts and amenities needed. The hotel has green gardens and a terrace overlooking the surroundings. They serve delicious food and the srvice is great. Within a short walk you can visit Imlil, which has some nice shops with local goods and tajine restaurants.

Kasbah du Toubkal is a beautiful and very quiet retreat in the Atlas Mountains, it's really a treasure and the rooms are comfortable with great views of the snow capped mountains. The food was excellent. Staff are accommodating and extremely kind. We also had the opportunity to meet the owner at breakfast. Really appreciated the in room coffee and tea making facilities, the hammam and the hot water bottles every night! We enjoyed one of the daily treks around the local area with a local friendly and knowledgeable guide. I definitely recommend it.

Hello All our rooms have great views but the garden apartment with its huge picture window looking up to Jbel Toubkal Morocco highest mountain has to be the best - Hope this helps
Mike
Hello
There is no air conditioning at the Kasbah its not need is cool enough without - we do have fans in the rooms. The evening temperatures drop down to the teens so air con really not needed. Hope this helps if you want any more info please just get in contact. Thanks Mike
Sorry only saw this question now. it will be very cold definitely the higher up. It would be colder than 10 degrees Celsius.
Hello
April is one of nicest and most popular time to visit the Atlas Mountains and Kasbah du Toubkal - yes the high mountains will still have snow on them. Trekking is perfectly possible even in winter . The Kasbah is at 1800 metres in altitude and the passes over cold into other valleys is at 2200 and the snow line even in winter is 2400 to 2600 m. It would be unusual to have snow lower down in April. Hoe this helps happy to discuss if useful Mike
Hello
Imlil has good mobile phone coverage in fact the whole of Morocco has very good coverage much better than rural Europe. The Kasbah has wifi in the central areas but its not that fast.
Hope this is useful Mike
