Our honeymoon started with us being collected from the airstrip by our guide Rama, who we had for our entire 4 days there. Making our safari experience feel very personal! Rama is extremely knowledgable and anything he couldn't answer he would the following day after doing his research, the guide spoke excellent English, very well educated and was clearly as... More

Selous Riverside has everything you could want in a safari camp. The lodges are beautifully done, with full electricity and running water, and the setting is perfectly peaceful overlooking the river. You discuss each day's itinerary with the managers (Clive and Raine) every evening, so you can hear the best time for certain activities and choose exactly what you want... More

We found the accomdations clean and comfortable. The food was high quality and fresh, with a nice variety. Service was impeccable, from our guide, Venice, to our waiter, Chandy, to managers, Clive and Rain, even the Maasai whom escorted us to our rooms after dinner each night. Excellent safari drives in Selous. It was our first ever safari and a... More

Hosts Clive & Raine are very accommodating to your every needs and the camp and staff are lovely. The rooms are decent with good toilets & beds. The showers are OK. The generator runs during the day whilst you're away but there's electricity 24/7. Lunches and dinners are great, especially packed lunches on safari where they pack a table and... More

We have just returned from 8 lightsi at the Selous Riverside Safari Camp. During our stay we enjoyed full day game drives, a walking safari and boat trips on the Rifuji river. Our guide, Rama, was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to try and find the animals we wanted to see. He was almost as happy at... More

Selous Riverside Camp made our stay in Africa one to remember forever! We had a turbulent start to our trip (our travel agent- Pure Safari were the worst company I have ever dealt with- never book with them) however Selous Riverside Camp made us feel safe and welcome and went above and beyond to deal with the issues our travel... We booked four nights at the riverside safari camp for the beginning of our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. After an amazing short flight from dar Es salaam over the Selous reserve we were greeted at the airstrip by one of the rangers for the 20 minute drive to the camp. Each couple is assigned a personal waiter who looks... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Imagine the silence and a powerful untamed nature… untouched forest, and crocodile filled lakes. On the river, a small canoe gently rows through the king palm trees. Nature awakes. In the first light of dawn, the golden elephants approach the river to drink. A group of still impalas watching us move between the hippopotamuses and crocodiles are disturbed by our passage. The largest African reserve is crossed by the Rufiji River and its tributaries which forms a network of lakes ideal for boat safaris.Wildlife observation and bird watching (350 catalogued species) take place in a superb natural setting. Respecting nature’s rhythm, you can be assured of close contact with the wildlife. With elephant population of over 50,000 and more than 5000 leopards, the Selous has undoubtedly the most rewarding game to offer. Other rare species include the African hunting dog. The Reserve provides home for some of the last remaining black rhinos.Selous Riverside Safari Camp, located just 6 km east from the Mtemere Gate that gives access to the magnificent Selous Game Reserve, is a cozy and exclusive 10 tents´ camp with breathtaking views over the Rufiji River. Hidden amongst dense forest and on the banks of the Rufiji River, Selous Riverside Safari Camp provides the most breathtaking view as dawn arises and a whole new adventure is about to begin.Lavishly furnished, the Camp provides comfort, style but also a feel of arguably the most untouched bush anywhere on the African horizon. Attention has been paid to every detail to make sure you experience the true essence of an adventures safari of a lifetime.
