The adventure began with a 12-seater plane flight from Dar es Salaam to an airstrip in Selous Game Reserve which took about 40 minutes. We were met by guides/rangers with Land Rovers and taken to Sable Mountain Lodge about 20-30 minutes drive away. Our rooms at the Lodge were brilliant! Great views during the day and at night you could... More

This was my third stay at the sable mountain lodge with yet another part of my family (5 altogether this time). Again the genuine African environment, the perfect service and the delicious food made our visit an authentic and pleasant experience. Rama's (our driving guide) thorough knowledge of the Selou and its "inhabitants" enabled all of us to see and... More

This is a small lodge in Selous Park. its about 25 mins jeep drive from the airstrip-- the plane ride will be your first experience. We stayed in one of the individual stone houses- with its own bathroom-- there are tents here too.Dont expect tv or wifi. You charge your batteries in the main bar. All meal are provided. There's... This lodge located just outside the western edge of the Selous Game Reserve is a dream. The rooms are wonderful with fantastic views and the food excellent. A bathroom open to the world might not suit everyone but since there is no-one out there to see you what does it matter? We thought it was brilliant!

Sable Mountain was our first experience of safari and we were not disappointed. The staff and bandas were great but the location is what it's really about. Our guide for most of the safaris we did was Joseph and he was engaging, hugely knowledgeable and did his absolute best to ensure we saw everything you would expect to on a... More

We spent 3 nights here staying in Banda number 10. Fantastic view from the bed and from the outside bath and shower. A novel, liberating experience getting clean outside. Very comfortable and airy accommodation. The food was varied and very good, especially considering we were miles from anywhere. The staff were excellent led by Mbasha. Always helpful and cheerful and... More

My wife and I spent four nights at Sable Mountain Lodge in mid-July, staying in one of the honeymoon suites. We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing start to a two-week trip to Tanzania. After three flights (the last a tiny six-seater up to Selous from Dar), the warm welcome was much needed. Highlights: the food - mightily impressive... More

We booked directly with the 'Tent with a view' guys and was a bit apprehensive as you are not protected by ATOL, but they informed me that they are used by several large travel companies and that we could book through them if we wanted. So we paid online and everything went like clockwork. The adventure starts with the the... More

Sable mountain lodge is exactly that, each morning you wake up with a view across the tree tops all the way to Sable mountain, which is a breath taking sight! The camp is large and full of an array of different accommodation, from small stone cottages to huge hilltop houses! I was very impressed by the quality of accommodation, the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The beautiful Sable Mountain lodge is set in the beho hills on the North Western boundary of Selous Game Reserve. The lodge is built over several hills giving a fantastic vantage point and, arguably the best view of the reserve. There is a combination of large and comfortable en suite tented rooms and stone cottages all private and all with great views. The freshwater pool provides a welcome on return from a safari. The nearby tree house and water hole attracts lots of game and a few hours can easily be spent there observing. Relax at the Land Rovers Return pub before dining in the restaurant or under the endless stars. The most special element about Sable Mountain is the team who are famous for their friendliness and will go the extra mile to ensure that you have a superb safari experience. ... more   less
