Kiponda is a nice Bed and Breakfast in the center of Stone Town. Heike, the hotel manager is very pleasant and always there for responding your questions. The room and the bathroom were very clean and comfortable, lovingly decorated. Breakfast was really good and diversified with bread, fruits, coffee, muesli, mandazi,... Some places simply feel good, and this is definitely one of these. I pre-booked for 2 nights, added on one more and would've stayed longer if I could. The old house (take a look at the entrance alcove and the two fine old doors!) is tastefully restored- local but totally kitsch-free, very neat and well maintained. The staff is friendly...

We had such a great time in Stone Town. Kiponda is an amazing place to stay in the heart of Stone Town. You can reach everything in a short time which is very practical especially in the night. We did some nice activities and had to organize nothing because of the dedicated manager. Thanks a lot!

Stayed 4 or 5 nights....seems to be good value for what there is of Stone Town 'budget' type accommodation...an awesome old building...rooms are sparsely furnished, but still good. A great top floor area for the excellent complimentary breakfast, using the free wi-fi, or just reading or elaxing. Centrally located a short walk from the ferry terminal. Would be my first...

A very nice place close to the ferry and to the centre of stone town. The rooms are clean and in a simple Zanzibaran design where you feel at home at a fair price. The staff is friendly and very helpfull. The breakfast at the rooftop with fruits, bread, eggs, marmelade and coffee is a good start for a day...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Even in the hot month of summer in the southern hemisphere (January til April) on our rooftop you can escape the heat and sun. Even if there should not be a breeze from the sea we have plenty of fans there to make you feel comfortable. Thanks for staying with...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Kiponda Bed and Breakfast is in a historical house dating back to the 18th century when it was built as part of the palace; simple and functional yet friendly and welcoming, nested in the charming Stone Town of Zanzibar. This beautiful old original Swahili house is just a walking distance from the harbor and a stone throw from Forodhani Garden and the House of Wonders. The small and simple B&B is an integral part of the neighborhood – meet our friendly neighbors and feel at home in the middle of this buzzing town rich in culture and full of stories. Peaceful, authentic, comfortable and furnished simple but with style, this place has it all if you are out for the true experience. Built in Arabic style – with one interior portico, thick walls and plenty of natural ventilation – sitting at the roof top seating area where we also serve breakfast makes it easy for you to dream up your own story of ancient times. Kiponda B&B is one of those special little hotels you‘ll want to return to again and again, and that’s what many of our guests do. We offer simple quality accommodation and services without fake luxury – a true Zanzibar experience. ... more   less
