I very mush enjoyed my stay. Everyone are friendly and helpful. I can gladly recommend it. Rooms are nice and comfy. You feel like you get a great feel of the city while living here. The hotel is located in the outskirts of stone town but you get there fast by foot and the environment around is really nice.

My friends and I shared two bedrooms for one night. This stay was included in our travel package and we wouldn't be able to find the location of this hotel on our own again (our driver also struggled to find the building), but the amenities were clean and the house quite unique as it used be a Sultan's residence. Some... More

This is a beautifully restored boutique property with only 10 rooms. We loved the old beams, the antiques on a display, lovely small pool and nicely decorated ( if smallish) bathrooms. The bkrf was very nice - we also had a light snake which was good. The location is good - it takes 5-10 min to walk to the main... More

We spent 2 nights in this hotel during our Honey Moon. The room and the hotel decoration are very nice, but we couldn't sleep before 2AM because right in front of our windows was a "bal room" (that can be rent according to the personel from the hotel) where people were having a party (both on Sunday and Monday night...).... We stayed for two nights at Kholle House, in one double and one single room, on the top floor. The good: - Beautiful interiors - Excellent breakfast - Nice pool and garden - Rooms had A/C and a fan - vital in the Zanzibar heat and humidity. The bad: - Every door, threshold and aisle was narrow and dark, the... More

Kholle House was built by Princess Kholle and we never got tired of appreciating its beautiful architecture and detailed decor. It is a small hotel tucked away from busy streets on Stone Town. We were a bit nervous about going into narrow streets to get to the hotel in the beginning, but we felt completely safe roaming around the town.... More

Kholle House is a quaint hotel near the ferry in Stone Town. It is quite dark inside, but the courtyard and pool area is lovely. The rooms are lovely as are the bathrooms. We had most of our meals on the roof top which incurred an extra charge but was certainly worth it. However, the poor staff probably don't think... More

My family stayed in several rooms at Kholle House during Christmas week 2015. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I will begin with the hotel strengths. It is in an old building that once housed the sister of the Sultan, and the rooms and furnishings are beautiful and atmospheric. The location near the port, museums, shopping and restaurants is a plus.... More

Kholle House fact sheet:Services & Facilities:• Wi-Fi available• Outdoor swimming pool• Transport to/from airport if required at an additional charge. Zanzibar airport and Dar es Salaam airport – ferry dock• Island tours and sea activities assistanceKholle House in the heart of Stone Town is an historical and authentic house build in 1860 which belonged to Princess Kholle. Sister of Sayyid Sultan bin Bargash and Princess Salme. The house has probably been there as a showcase from their crystal collection and porcelain. After the revolution in 1964 the house was confiscated and occupied by several families, this period caused severe damages in the house. Three years of restoration has bring us the pleasure to present our town beloved house, the work done in connection with historical monuments and in full respect with the construction methods in the time (coral rubble, lime, mangrove beams, marble…). With an noble and austere façade the building is typically Omani Arabic style while the garden has more Indo-Victorian fantasy rhythms. This style is featured on the covers of the old dispensary which faces Kholle House and was restored by the Ada Khan Foundation. ... more   less
