We are a family of 5 with kids aged 6,10,14 We had one week in Zanzibar and decided to stay the whole week in stone town. The hotel is clean, the staff is friendly. breakfast was nice. there were 2 problems: the big dumpster right in front of the hotel and the loud music coming from the restaurant

When we arrived, all the bar staff ignored us. (They were rushing around doing useful things like straightening chairs by a centimetre). Finally, when we went up to request a beer, a staff member looked through me, and I had to insist. Then, 15 minutes later someone came to present a beautiful box with a bill for a drink we...

We only spent one night here, but would definitely recommend it. Maru Maru is in the heart of Stone Town, with an absolutely amazing rooftop pool/bar/restaurant that overlooks the city, the old fort and the ocean. A late afternoon watching the sun dip behind the mosque and into the ocean is a must.

Good location. Saves time esp for tours closer to stone town. Walking around the small market streets gives a good opportunity to feel of the quaint side of stone town. The hotel is just next to Forodhani, a beachfront next to the port, where one can sit and taste the local fast food. A special thanks to Hemanta, the manager, and...

5 nights spent at MaruMaru during a business visit in Stone town. Friendly staff, clean rooms, good food and of course fantastic sunsets at roof-top terrace. A well-functioning WiFI connection was particularly valuable for a business trip.

I spent just one night in this hotel. The room was nice, well equipped and beautiful. I enjoyed very much the sunset over Zanzibar from the terrace. For this only is worth staying in Marumaru, Friendly staff as always in Zanzibar.

The hotel is nicely located in the old stone town which makes for a great adventure-going around the small streets and interacting with the locals is a fulfilling experience.
