Basic, cheap, clean rooms and bathrooms, comfy beds with mosquito nets, breakfast included, friendly staff and all these in the real heart of Stown Town. If you are looking for a place to stay this is a good choise!

It is centrally located in the heart of Stone Town and very affordable for Zanzibar. Not a 4 star but, descent and well kept. If you are light sleeper it the morning prayers call will definitely disturb your sleep. I traveled in January of 2015.

Recommended to us by friends, this was a great option for a reasonable priced stay in an expensive location. We had a twin bedroom with en suite bathroom for $ 34 per night. They don't provide towels and although there is a ceiling fan there is no aircon. No hot water but it was so hot at the time of... More

Super nice guesthouse in Stone Town, not far away from all, but still quite and in the center, close to the slave market. I had the single room with bathroom on the roof, it was very nice! Cleanest room I had in all Tanzania! People there are very nice, breakfast and wifi is included in 17$. Wifi was not working... More

It's situated in the twisting alleys of Stone Town and so there are lots of places to explore nearby. It's a cheap option and the rooms are basic but clean. There's a rooftop terrace to chill on which is nice. Darajani is near to the hostel and you can get dalaldalas all over the island from there. If you love... More

This place is very basic, but the very best value and experience. The rooms are simple, but super clean. You walk across the floor and your feet are not even dusty. You get a good breakfast on the roof, and free, fast wifi. The staff are friendly and helpful, and they even picked us up for the airport. I will... More

Stonetown is really expensive but flamingo is one of the cheapest location. The room was big, nice and really really clean. hot water and wifi really working(first time in tanzania). On the top of the building there's a nice terrace. Is located 10minutes walking from shangani in a nice and not really turistic area of stonetown, but we had any... More

My son and I stayed for 6 nights and the Flamingo Guest House was a fantastic place to stay. Clean and well maintained and while there isn't hot water for showering, it wasn't as bitter cold as some places we stayed. The staff were all so helpful and friendly. Free Wi-Fi and breakfast on the roof every morning. It's a... More

Overall good and would go there again. Good price for Zanzibar, $17 for an airy single room with fan. Very friendly service and good breakfast included; I recommend the omlete. The shared bathrooms weren't the standard I'd expect from a western hostel but I think they were an acceptable level for Zanzibar and Tanzania. I found the tours leaving from... More

“The rooms are not pretty, but for not much more it is good to get one with a private bathroom. Higher up is a bit quieter.”

“I like the rooms on the rooftop because they have access to free Wi-Fi and they also have a very nice view. The con to this is that the rooms can get very warm during the day due to the sunlight shining on the rooms all day.”
