We stayed at the Zanzibar Palace for 2 nights - the last 2 of our holiday. It was just like staying in a rich merchants home- really did not feel like a hotel. The welcome was kind and all the staff were friendly . Particular thanks to the two young ladies carried our bags up the 3 flights of stairs...

We stayed at the Zanzibar Palace Hotel for one night before heading down to Mafia Island to go diving. It provided an ideal base from which to explore Stone Town. The mixed fruit juice on arrival was delicious and our room (Nadia) was clean and comfortable, with a bed so far off the ground we felt like royalty climbing in...

A wonderful eclectic hotel with many original artefacts. The suite we had was large with an enormous bathroom/dressing room. Fans & airconditioning helped to keep the rooms cool. The breakfasts were good but the evening meal we had was overpriced & unsatisfactory. The chef was trying to work above their level creating "amuse bouche" which were unappetising. My steak which...

This hotel is located in the maze of streets and alleys which is Stonetown. No two journeys to and from the hotel were the same, but the people around are very willing to guide you to your destination. The hotel captures the ambience of old Zanzibar, but without the slaves. Vey pleasant for a holiday with a difference. The staff...

Stayed three wonderful nights at the hotel. The first two nights were in the Farizah room - large with king sized bed, hugh bath and balcony. The third night was in the Sherali room - also very large with separate bath and shower and a sea view. Every room is amazing and individually decorated in the Zanzibar style. The owners...

The first night of our stay was in the Nadia room, quiet air conditioned room. For the next two nights of our stay we were moved to the Farizah, large accommodating room, also air conditioned. You get a sense of Stone Town as this B&B is a former residence. Shower is exposed in Farizah. Large King sized beds in each...

We spent one day/night here as part of our Tanzania Safari, Zanzibar Beach holiday. The hotel is perfectly positioned in the old town and is certainly an interesting building. It is lovely and cool inside and rooms are air conditioned. We had booked the Dunia Suite which is the one at the top with the open air bathroom on the...

This is an absolute gem in a prime location for exploring Stone Town. The hotel is beautifully restored and full of character. The Dutch owners Co and Frans are charming, always welcoming and helpful, and it seems nothing is too much trouble for them if it will enhance your stay. They give great advice on things to do and places...

Anywhere that greets you with passion fruit juice is off to a good start and when we saw our room (The Sultana) we wished we were staying longer. It was a very large room with a verandah, an extremely comfortable bed and enormous bath (although perhaps some sort of screening on the toilet could be considered for privacy). Breakfast was...

This place is amazing. They stop at nothing to give you the best service possible, even when it has very little to do with services one might associate with hotels. For example, my grandfather needed a new rubber tip for his cane. ZPH staff took the old, worn out tip and had one crafted out of old tire. The new...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Zanzibar Palace Hotel is a luxurious nine room boutique hotel located right in the heart of Stone Town (an Unesco World Heritage site). It is independently owned and daily under Dutch management and an ideal home to explore and experience all the beauties of this magical town and Island. Zanzibar's rich history is integrated throughout the hotel by Arabian, Indian and English designs, this in combination with all modern comfort (airco, free WiFi, flatscreen TV's, etc). Each room/suite has its own unique decor with many local originating antique pieces of furniture, magical beds, colourful silks, etc. Room rates for every purse definitely makes this a place to stay. As you walk through the front door, you notice the soft aqua blue interior colours along with the antique furniture. You are immediately put into a state of calm and relaxation. ... more   less
