We had fabulous rooms overlooking the ocean and the Swahili decor just adds to the glamour of staying right where al the cultural scene unfolds everyday. For its ranking the rooms can do with better cleaning, corridor carpets better maintained and coffee and tea replenished everyday (We had to beg for that). It's location is perfect for all walking tours and the shopping sprees in the tight colorful alleyways of Stone Town. New Year's eve was simple, elegant and pleasant. It was a relieve to be able to safely listen to music and enjoy our meal with friends. On COVID measures, considering that it's Zanzibar where NO ONE believes that COVID exists, I think the hotel did a pretty good job with face masks and making alcohol and disposable masks available everywhere. Certain tourists were just as in denial, but COVID safety remains an individual effort and the hotel was courteous enough to accommodate everyone, even those with full on masks like us.

The Park Hyatt is in Stone Town. If you'd like to experience the restaurants, market and other fun stuff in Stone Town this is the place to stay. Contact Nelson in advance and he'll organize snorkeling, guided tours, restaurants and anything you need prior to your stay. Once you check in Salvador will escort you to locations so you don't get lost in Stone Town, and organize someone to bring you home. Breakfast is great! And so is room service. If you have an ocean-view room I highly recommend room service which was very prompt, very good, with excellent service, and priced quite affordably.

Its a very beautiful modern hotel set in an old building at the edge of the town, close to the public beach with a wonderful atmosphere. We felt really nice at the hotel. Its clean, beds are comfy, we slept well, you can hear the ocean, AC in the room was sufficient, silent, you can turn it off. Service was excellent. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice especially the local fruits including fresh coconuts. There is a small pool with access to the beach. View from our room as well from the bar and restaurant terrace was amazing. You can walk around the town on your own or with the guide, no need of taxi around the town. We were lucky, we came early in the morning and our room was ready including the complimentary breakfast.

We stayed at the lone Park Hyatt in all of Africa during our stay in Zanzibar. Not having many reference points it’s hard to judge by local standards but I can say the hotel was on average in line with the Park Hyatt brand but not in all aspects.

We stayed in Park Suite which was very spacious (100 sqm), had 1.5 bath, a nice terrace overlooking the beach and seaviews, and had good quality of materials for example the floor tiles. However the room was not entirely great, there were some aspects lacking considering the PH brand, notably soundproofing was poor due to thin windows so we could hear everything going on outside the hotel including calls for prayer at 5am. Soundproofing from the inside was also weak and we could easily hear doors closing. Thankfully because our suite was at the end of a hallway the noise was more muted when being in the bedroom. The sofa in the living room did not look the most clean so we avoided it and on our first day the water flow in the suite was intermittent and would stop at regular intervals making a shower somewhat tedious. However once I mentioned the problem to staff the next morning, they fixed the issue while housekeeping cleaned the room.

Bathroom toiletries were Le Labo Bergamote 22 as expected and were refilled regularly by housekeeping which did a good job exactly at the time we requested every day.

The breakfast buffet was good with many dishes with some variation of a coconut sauce, including beans, sweet potatoes, bananas, and pumpkin. I also enjoyed the coconut water every morning. What lacked in this breakfast to be truly Park Hyatt standards was some kind of a la carte menu, which there was none if not counting made to order eggs which is a given.

The restaurant was in an attractive venue with seating both indoors and outdoors above the beach.

Similar to the restaurant, the hotel common areas looked great and I liked the historical nature of the hotel which used to be the palace for the Sultanate of Oman (the old wing of the hotel). They later built a more modern wing where our suite was located. The bar of the hotel was inviting, the library was quiet, and the high ceilings with sky lights near reception were impressive.

Service was generally a strength at the hotel with various staff remembering our names and being very friendly when we walked by reception and at the front door. They were also more proactive than most hotels in suggesting half day tours from the hotel and talking about the history of Zanzibar and the various sites to visit, compared to other PHs some of which tend to be more reactive.

Overall I found this PH to be good but short of being great, although considering the lack of local alternatives from international hotel chains (there are a couple of Double Tree hotels), I would return with no hesitation and I can recommend it.

I came to Park Hyatt for a business trip and this gorgeous hotel was the perfect place for my stay, a true delight for all senses. Tastefully decorated, with a stylish blend of East African and Middle Eastern touches, I enjoyed beautiful sunsets sitting in the comfy lounge chairs of the veranda and from the swimming pool fronting the Indian ocean. Such a joy after a long day of work!!

And the food! Certainly among the best on the island. I particularly loved the brunch! The Chef has a gift to turn simple dishes into an explosion of flavors by inventing tasty fusions of high-quality ingredients from different continents. Yummy!

A special mention to the very stable Wifi available all over the hotel, which was of the utmost importance for me (had Zoom calls with several videos on without a single interruption!! Pretty rare on the island..)

Finally, special thanks to the lovely staff, very professional, always keen to help you have the best experience :) Asanteni!

What an amazing place! The front desk is very helpful! They were able to arrange many things for me, including a ride from the airport and to my next hotel, a dinner reservation and a trip to Changuu Island. My room was beautiful and included a shower with great pressure and heat and a large bathtub. The (included) breakfast was out of this world! The food during the rest of the day/night was delicious. The hotel has a pool, access to the beach, and an easy walk to all of Stone Town’s attractions. I highly recommend this hotel, and I hope to stay here again someday!

I stayed at the Park Hyatt for 3 nights on the day they reopened post COVID and had a wonderful stay.

Hyatt benefits were recognized and we received a splendid Deluxe Room with 180 views on the beach. The room is beautifully decorated; the stand alone bathtub being the highlight.

I loved the Omani architecture with its open spaces, and the direct beach access. The beach is public, which means it is not the cleanest, but the overlooking infinity pool solves this problem and the fishermen and beachgoers offer a wonderful spectacle as one sips drinks from the deck.

I was surprise to see that the restaurant isn't ranked higher on this review site, as I thought the food was excellent and by far the best we had in Zanzibar. Fish dishes were fresh and splendidly presented; desserts were top notch and quite sophisticated.

All of the Hyatt corporate COVID measures were implemented as far as I could tell (e.g. masks). Alas, these restriction impact the hotel's 5* services: daily housekeeping is on request, there is no turndown service, and breakfast buffets won't come back until 2050; I do feel for management and the associates who are doing a fantastic job.

It was a pleasure to stay and I hope I can come back during a more normal time.

Stayed here with my wife for 2 nights and my only regret was not booking a 3rd night. Upon arrival, Fatima greeted us and helped check us in- she mentioned us having an amazing room but it needed a little more time before it was ready. The front office manager suggested walked us to the back patio to watch the sunset outside, brought over some drinks on them, and came to get us once the room was ready just a short while later. WELL WORTH the wait as Fatima and the team upgraded our room to an absolutely beautiful corner suite and made our stay extremely special.

The rooms are beautiful, clean, and definitely recommend get an ocean facing room! Also, the hotel is 15 minutes from the airport in the heart of Stone Town so the location is pretty amazing and convenient. The sunset views can't be beat, easy access to pool/beach, great breakfast in the morning.

The in house restaurant is a bit overpriced but their sister restaurant the Beach House down the block was well worth dining at. We had a small hiccup at lunch in house restaurant) on our last day prior to catching a flight out with an order mixup and slow kitchen, but the GM or front office manager stepped in and squashed the situation real quick upon checkout and wiped out the bill. Service all around is outstanding, would return and highly recommend.

We stayed here for three nights in July on points as a stopover before safari to visit Stone Town.

The hotel itself is stunning. It is clean, modern but with a nod to its heritage, immaculately kept and has a real luxury feel while keeping Hyatt level service. I am writing this review 6 months later but can still smell the aromas they use around the hotel.. There is a sense of occasion as you walk through the huge high roof reception out onto the pool area overlooking they ocean. We thought maybe the pool area would be full, but there was never any issues with lounge areas or anything.

Location is very central in Stone town, which is an ancient city, so narrow streets etc.

Rooms: Rooms are beautifully appointed, spacious and comfortable fir the room categories they are. They have all modern amenities.

Food and beverage: Food offering during the day was just ok. What you would expect from any big hotel. Completely fine and edible, but you wouldn’t remember it. In the evening, it comes to life.. food was sensational in the restaurant in the evenings. I would be an avid lobster eater and said I would order the 1kg lobster. Well in the Park Hyatt, I think it was 1kg of lobster meat, I couldn’t move after it. A real treat as was the rest of the seafood we had. The cocktails were very good, mojitos in particular were excellent. The staff seem really well trained, helpful, and even kept our suitcases for us while we went on safari which was lovely.

There was no entertainment as such, and this is very much a really nice hotel rather than a resort. It’s a great base for travelling and have all positive things to say about it. One word of warning which is something out of the hotels control. The beach in front is public and as such when you are in the pool taking in the views, you will have people coming to the glass asking for drinks, money etc. they have security, and we never felt threatened, but was a nuisance. Mosquitoes were not an issue here as in other parts of Zanzibar.

All in all, a lovely hotel, highly recommended.

I booked a king suite with sea view and the views were to die for. What made my experience though was the wonderful staff. They were so welcoming and accommodating, from organizing my tours to booking my restaurant reservation at Emerson

Also, if you’re super picky about hotel bathrooms this is definitely the hotel to book in stone town. The modern separate shower+ tub with Le Labo toiletries was very much appreciated.

Next time I visit Zanzibar I may try a different hotel in Kendwa/Nungwi but Park Hyatt will always be my go-to in Stone town.

Hello, Yes there is a direct beach access outside our outdoor terrace which provides a pool lounge that is adjacent to the beach. Therefore you just take a few steps and you are on the beach. It is a public beach, however it is clean and you can enjoy your swim.
