The place is still a good and charming hotel. I've been upgraded for a "Bangalô", what praised me a lot!!!
The staff is really nice and always there when needed.
The breakfast doesn't have a big variety of food but what they have, is of a top quality!!
Every day one or two new cake and some Brazilian specialities like coxinha (fried chicken cake) and fresh bread.
The only upside-dow is the noise around the hotel till late night, I mean, after midnight on over...
I don't know about other rooms but from mine, it's like the musicians are playing over my bed!!
I would return, as I did after 15 years!
Thank Alemarincat

Pro
-centrally located, can't get better
-beautiful historical building, close to harbour, easy walk to beach and shops
-amazing view
-free breakfast

Con
-wifi did not work 90% of the time. Not a lot of help from front desk
-no luggage help. There were so many stairs and it was quite difficult
-no towel or linen change. it kinda gets gross since people are at the beach all the time and needed to get clean towels since things get sandy
-no air con control. when it's on, it's way too cold, when it's off, it's stuffy and hot.
Thank dancingbella

This hotel is centrally located. We made reservations for 2 adults and 2 children and apparently they had for two, which was fine. But as we were paying, we thought it was for the 4 and the next morning around noon they wanted to charge us extra for the girls, while we thought we already paid. They said they didn't have anything saying we were four. Maybe something was missed while making the reservations, but our room had an extra bed, which sometimes the kids share. Therefore I assumed they new. So we had to quickly leave and find another place, which there are a dime a dozen.
Aside from that, the room was clean and had a nice view, but it's too expensive and small.

During eight nigths I was at O Casarao. The breakfast was good, the swimming pool after the beach was so good. But the service ... Well, in the third day no toilet soap ... And the fifth day the towels disappeared! The doors are closed with the keys.no magnetic card. You need to give the keys at the reception when you leave, and one day my keys was in the door when I return to my room ... The housekeeper forgot them at the door !!!

I stayed here for 4 days and I was amazed by the professionalism of its staff and the beauty of this historical building. The room I stayed in could use some work, but I visited the new ones and found them very atractive. The hotel is located at the heart of the village, very close to the enterance of the island. Its cosy restaurants has live music and there is a gathering of artcraft sellers each evening just in front of the Pousada, adding to its idyllic appearance.
